Nythfa House is owned by HF Holidays and we stayed there on our first guided tour in Wales and in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. We had a large comfortable room (number 6) - the only drawback being the small sink area in the bathroom with no room at all to put one’s toiletries. With two of us we simply used the floor.  
Breakfast was good, but following NF tradition the coffee is undrinkable (very weak and tasteless).  The service was excellent and many thanks to the barman - he was just perfect.

Almost perfect

Hotel was lovely and clean, food was really nice, staff were friendly and the manager was very welcoming friendly & helpful.  Would recommend this hotel if you fancy a break looking around the town & taking in the beautiful scenery or if you love walking this is the perfect place to stay.

This was the first time I have ever stayed in WALES and my 1st walking holiday too and I was delighted with my experience 
There was so much to see and do the staff were all amazing but especially ‘Lorraine’
On breakfast and Basia (Barbara)  for the other meals 
All the staff work so hard and they are all a credit to this hotel.

Walking holiday

Due to social distancing check in was quite slow, but shown to our room with good view of the garden.

 You have to preorder dinner choices and packed lunch choices. Meals are in two sittings. For breakfast on the second sitting it was a rush to finish before guided walk started. Good choice of food with a variety of different options for breakfast  and dinner.

Due to covid restrictions  currently there is no lounge or anywhere comfortable to sit. Prior to dinner guests could sit in a wooden floored room with uncomfortable  chairs and small groups of guests social distancing. Currently  the pool is closed.

Meals were a real challenge for staff with two way system and two sittings. Some people had to wait despite the best efforts of all the staff. I really felt Holiday Fellowship who own this hotel should only open this hotel once restrictions  have ceased

The hotel is in easy walking distance of Brecon, which is a interesting  town and has a prettywalk by the canal.

My fourth visit to an HF house, as always we received a warm welcome upon arriving for our walking weekend. Walkers are extremely well catered for both with the hearty food, lunch pack options and guide-yourself maps at the Discovery Point. The room was comfortable and spacious. The centre of town was a short walk away. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

HF at its best

We stayed here for a "taster weekend" recently with HF Holidays. The hotel is described as a Country House but it's actually located in a residential area of Brecon about 10 minutes walk from the centre. Having said that it was very quiet. We were welcomed on arrival and shown where everything was before being taken to our room. The staff were also friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

Our room was a good size and very comfortable and there was a nice view overlooking the gardens. The plumbing system in the hotel needs looking at though because whenever the taps were run or the toilet was flushed there was a loud groaning noise!

Service especially at dinner could be improved. To speed things up for the group everyone had pre-ordered but the staff still seemed to get confused and there was a lot of backwards and forwards as the wrong orders were brought out and had to be returned. Some people were also kept waiting for their food for a long time after others on the same table had got theirs. We were looking forward to using the pool, but it was in a separate building which was uninviting and the water was disappointingly cold so we didn't stay in long.

I don't think we'd come back to this hotel. HF Holidays have others around the country and guests we spoke to thought some of them were a lot better. Overall we did enjoy the weekend though - the walking was good and the HF leaders were excellent, so we'd certainly consider HF Holidays again and would probably try a weekend in a different location next time.

HF Holidays  "Taster" Weekend

Our second stay at Nythfa House did not disappoint. A warm welcome from deputy manager, Maria, friendly capable staff, excellent choice and high standard of food and well stocked bar! Many locally resourced food products served. High standard of accommodation and the swimming pool is an added bonus. The usual first class facilities for walkers i.e. boot rooms, driers etc.  Location of house close to centre of Brecon - just a 10 minute walk.

Our first holiday with HF so wasn't sure what to expect. Nythfa house is in a lovely location about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Brecon. We had room 5 which was assessed as a 'better' room. We weren't disappointed, it was a lovely big room with very comfy beds and spotlessly clean.   We enjoyed the plentiful food and the service at breakfast and dinner was very good. The staff worked very hard to make everyone feel welcome and to accommodate individual needs. We also enjoyed the walks. My husband enjoys longer harder walks so it suited us both that there were 3 choices of walks. I liked that there were a mix of people on the same holiday, solo travellers, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, these holidays cater for everyone, young and old, such a friendly atmosphere. Last but not least, I must mention the guides, John, Sue and Gerald, a very knowledgeable crew. Big thanks to John for showing me the best way to walk on a hill, it really worked . We are looking forward to book a second holiday with HF next year.

Hf walking holiday

Lovely hotel and grounds. The Manager, Tiffany, was very welcoming and ensured we had all the information we needed for a pleasant stay. Her staff were friendly and efficient.The rooms were freshly decorated, simply furnished, with coffee and tea making facilities and all other acoutrements you could need, e.g. shower, hairdryer, shaving point, etc.
Breakfast, picnic lunches and evening meal offered lots of choice and were well presented and enjoyable. We would certainly return for a repeat visit.

What more could you want?

What a fabulous place to stay. Tiff and Nina the manager and assistant manager run an excellent house. Food is top notch especially all the fish they serve and the lamb. Gorgeous rooms. Lovely swimming pool. Croquet to play at night & pitch and putt. Very quiet but also no distance from the town.  Spent 10 days there. It was like brilliant. Thank you to all the staff
