Can't really understand the reviews on here. Booked a room here for a night stay and having seen the room, disgusting, walked back out. I have done lots of stays everywhere but have never encountered a room with such bad cleanliness as this one. Shocking. We not offered any refund either  be warned. 

Stained and worn out bedding

A lovely little guest house and an excellent location. 

The rooms are not very modern looking but the room I stayed in had plenty of space, beds were extremely comfy and the room was clean. 

The bathroom was spacious and I had a lovely hot bath! 

The breakfast was delicious and a nice choice of foods for the continental breakfast. 

Staff are really friendly and welcoming and always seem happy for a chat. They were also very helpful when it came to trying to find taxi's. 

The guest house is a small drive (5 mins or less) from bridgend town and a Tesco, but I feel you would need to drive there as I didn't see any train or bus stops. there is also a small spar which is about a 5/10 minute walk. 

I would definitely recommend the guest house and would stay there again 

Lovely little guest house 

After an horrendous experience the night before, staying at Blanco's Hotel in Port Talbot, it was wonderful to return to this smart, comfortable, beautiful guest-house that we had stayed in some years previously. Tony the owner welcomed us in like old friends, our room was clean, bright and very comfortable with added features such as a fridge, microwave and even wine glasses for guests who don't want to dine out. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff who have all worked at Hazelwood for years were attentive, polite and friendly. The breakfast was amazing, with a choice of cooked or continental breakfast, served in a cosy, beautifully set out dining room. I loved the 'proper' tablecloths and napkins and matching crockery, a stylish touch that made breakfast feel like a real treat - which it was! We left feeling that we had had a really relaxing break. We have already decided to make this our base when we return to Wales in September. Excellent value for money too! Highly recommended. 

Wonderful guest house, highly recommended

Excellent position for exploring the area, close to the main road to the motorway junction, but little noise from it. Peaceful and calm gardens.

The décor is perhaps a little dated, but it's all immaculately clean, and the room was full of extras for our convenience, including a fridge and a microwave!

Breakfast was well-cooked and substantial, with lots of choice in the "Continental" option. The hosts were pleasant, friendly and helpful.

A really enjoyable stay

Again, an excellent stay here for 6 nights.
As usual the hosts were fantastic and very welcoming. 
If anyone is considering a stay in Bridgend I can highly recommend the accommodation and hospitality. 

Excellent Value and Location 

We had a very comfortable spacious room with fridge, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities, with plenty of refill sachets available.  We liked that the room charge was separate from the breakfasts, so that you could choose between a full Welsh or a "Continental", or nothing at all if you didn't want breakfast.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for more.

Friendly and comfortable

Having just spent 4 nights at Hazelwood Lodge we have never been in a Hotel where we feel that the Customer really does come first.
 
The Hospitality and friendliness of all was what made of short break an experience to remember, so much so that we have rebooked here later this year for another 5 nights.

Breakfast Table presentation was exceptional. Food was hot, and plentiful, with nice touches like Butter Dish with Knife, Napkin Rings and Table Cloths. 
The room was large and very clean. 

The Hotel is set in beautiful grounds with well established trees, Flowersand the plenty of wildlife to be observed. (You might need a Camera).

There are several areas where Bistro Tables and Picnic Benches are available which allow you to capture the daily sun and a nice area to reflect on the day with maybe your favourite tipple like we did.

Excellent Hosts, Facilities and Hospitality

Really friendly people that own/operate the hotel. Having stayed in many hotel for work over the years, this one is at the top of the stack. Really handy fridge and microwave in my room allowed me to save money on evening meals. Breakfast is not included but is at a reasonable cost. Bed and the pillows are so comfy. I am only sad that I won't be back in the area for a few months. Would I return ? Yes without a doubt...

Lovely place to stay

This is an excellent guest house. We stayed on Easter Saturday for one night only as we had a family bereavement. It was a last minute booking and Jane very kindly accommodated us. I was very touched that Jane fitted us in at such short notice. We had a marvellous welcome and were very happy with our lovely sunny room. We had a king-size bed and everything was provided to make for a comfortable stay. 
The cooked Welsh breakfast was absolutely delicious. In fact, the best we've ever eaten. Beautifully freshly cooked by Annette. We normally stay in hotels but if this is guesthouse standard, pity poor hotels. We  would highly recommend this guesthouse and look forward to returning in the future. Overnight Stay

Booked an overnight stay, originally only a twin room available but this transpired to a double which was great. Easy to locate just outside Bridgend. Reception area was well presented and we were greeted by Tony. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable complete with toiletries,  which is often missing these days. Cooked breakfast was great, didn't mind that this was extra as this was explained at check-in. Staff introduced themselves and engaged with everyone. Clearly some repeat customers giving relaxed atmosphere.
