This is truly a fantastic place to stay. The breakfast is great for choice and the full breakfast is cooked to perfection. The evening menu offers a good choice of food and compliments must be offered to the chef for outstanding cooking and presentation of the food. The bar offers a wide choice of beers, lagers and cider etc.
The room was clean and tidy, the beds were made up everyday and the shower was brilliant, also there is ample car parking. The location is excellent, you can walk to the River Cam and Trumpington Meadows in around 10 minutes, there is a large Waitrose within a 5 minute walk and Trumpington Park and Ride, which will take you to Cambridge City Centre for £3.50 return is about a 10 minute walk away. Finally all the staff were extremely hard working and pleasant but I would like to give a special mention to Harry in the bar/restaurant who was also pleasant, hard working and couldn't do enough to help. All in all, a great experience and wouldn't hesitate staying here again

Great place to stay

This is our 2nd visit stayed overnight as working nearby. Last time we stayed we didn't have an evening meal, this time we did and not disappointed. Both had the chicken pie, omg it was delicious and packed full of chicken, pastry perfect along with perfect mash potato and veg. Staff so friendly can't do enough for you. Our room spotless with our own entrance which is a bonus. Beds very comfortable, clean and cosy. Shower not very powerful but that's just a minor detail as lovely and hot, soft towels etc. Breakfast first class recommend full English 👌

First class accommodation for a very reasonable price.

When we drove in the car park was empty at 12.45 on a Sunday.  We did not have high expectations.  As we were a bit tight for a flight, we persevered.
The staff were friendly and efficient.
 The menu was Sunday roasts only.  We ordered Pork and Nut roast.  Beer from the pump was local and very good.
The food arrived promptly.  The veg was all freshly cooked, with extra cauliflower cheese in a dish.  The pork was tender, the crackling crisp and the Yorkshire pudding well done.
Very good food and service, good value pricing and we do not understand why it was so quiet.

Surprisingly good food and service after an empty car park

The positives first. Spotlessly clean, comfy room. Harry behind the bar friendly and helpful. Now the rest - stayed for a night at a weekend and needed an early departure Sunday morning. Asked if any possibility for a slightly earlier breakfast. Was told no because staff not in - fair enough I thought. My rate included breakfast so asked for something off the rate as I wasn’t having it - then it all got very passive aggressive from the ‘landlady’ who would clearly benefit from a crash course in customer service. To add insult to injury she tried to claim the breakfast was complementary as an excuse for not discounting my rate. When I pointed out I’d ‘paid’ for a room and breakfast I was informed I could either pay the full amount or leave. I felt for Harry who looked somewhat embarrassed by his boss’s ’computer says no’ attitude. I reluctantly stayed as it was evening time and I didn’t fancy looking for an alternative in the middle of nowhere. I had dinner in the bar - wish I hadn’t. Broccoli soup passable but bland, burger meat had gristle in it and the best tasting bit was the bacon. Sticky toffee pudding tasteless. So all in all not a great experience and somewhere I won’t be heading to again.

Rude owner, mediocre food. Comfortable room

Our room was immaculately clean, the tea & coffee amenities were well stocked ( always a bonus!) Our room was a twin room, the beds were comfortable enough and we was happy to see two pillows on each bed! The room itself was spacious enough with ample storage. At night the noise was very minimal.The bathroom was large and spacious I liked the fact that it was a wet room as I can suffer with mobility issues.
Good WiFi signal in the room too. 
The breakfast was super. Fresh ingredients, locally sourced too.
The staff here although at our visit was minimal were helpful and polite.
We would happily stay here again for the price, proximity to the centre of Cambridge and the comfort.

Great value and comfort for the price 

Please please don’t waste your hard earned money staying here unless you like the Karens Diner type experience. The mature lady (owner, manager, land lady?) seemed to look for confrontation,  following us to our rooms for more information after being told she could have been more polite, then calling us “pratts” when we chose to not be confrontational back. The rat infested “wild garden” right on the doorstep of our room was almost as off putting as her. The tired, badly thought out decor, (mould around the front door, no bedside table or light, no where to put a suitcase) mostly faulty equipment (air con not working, TV faulty) and the bed that felt like sleeping on a prison floor was most defiantly not worth the money. The breakfast though hot and very tasty and served with a smile was served by staff that clearly have no idea at all about the laws on allergies. Please be careful if you do have allergies or intolerances. Listening
to the hoovering being done while eating was also kind of rude and off putting. The staff in the bar again were polite but very annoying having to listen to their phone on full volume.  Felt we couldn’t complain about all these thing directly in case of it escalating with the management of face to face or else would have. 

Rude staff and rats in your doorstep

Can fully understand the poor rating of this place. Nice place but when the land lady calls you a Pratt when you ask for a drink at 11.04, you are welcomed with no our hours are 11pm, no very sorry we can’t because etc….and you just make a comment that that was unnecessary. Would avoid at all costs on the basis that they are happy to take your money and a lot for what it is… and have zero respect for their guests. You my lady are the Pratt and have no right to be a landlady… enough said..

Poor host

I would NOT recommend this Inn to anybody. 
Our experience included an over cooked meal, an over bearing individual in the bar that was yelling into his phone and therefore causing total annoyance to all bar users. In our conversation, attempting to be heard, others including myself, had to raise our voices. 
Without any request by anyone to lower our voice or tone, we eventually left and retired for the evening. I acknowledge a few Ps and Qs were said by us but no one said anything to us requesting us to stop. 
The supervisor (owner?) knocked on our door and told us our stay was cut short due to being loud in the bar. 
She would not enter into any discussion on the matter. 
Unbelievable!..., unfortunately we relocated however did find what I believe was better accommodation.

The site manager was unbelievable.

Very clean room, useful amenities including tea , coffee and hot chocolate.
Very impressed with the size of the bathroom that was also a wet room.
Decor was nice and smart and the room well kept. The WiFi had a good signal too - always a bonus!
We didn't have much of a problem with noise either.
The breakfast was one of the best continental breakfasts I've had. 

Perfect budget B&B

This is a good location for accessing Cambridge via the park and ride or bus and not having to drive into the centre and park.  It’s good value too at £90 b&b, cheaper than central Cambridge hotels or out of town Holiday Inn. The rooms are to the side of the pub, in a row on the other side of the beer garden.  They are very clean, with tea and coffee making and a large bathroom.  Noise is the big issue here, as the walls seem thin and you can hear everything going on in the beer garden and then later everything going on in the next door room. The breakfast was fine.  There was a limited choice, but what was presented was well cooked.
