Lovely place just outside Canterbury very handy for Howletts we stayed in the Stein room that has a small balcony to sit out on if you wish . We had a great nights sleep a couple in the other room seemed to be having a good physical session 😍😍 so other rooms a little noisy.

One night Friday night stay

A very friendly welcome in a very quiet village, the pub and the rooms are welcoming and warm, the excellent creative dinner without being pretentious, a good choice of wine, a very good breakfast.

It's a perfect and quiet stopover near Canterbury.

We were attending a wedding at Preston Court, hence the stay. A beautiful pub in a village in the heart of the Kent countryside. The team were very warm and welcoming. We were told everything we needed to know. Well appointed room. Lovely little bathroom. Comfy bed. Decent coffee machine. There was a little noise from the pub downstairs, but it’s a very old building so this is to be expected. Nothing ear plugs didn’t solve. Breakfast was scrumptious. Probably the best granola starter we’ve ever had! We sampled the vegetarian and full English. Both fantastic. The evening ‘Mussels Night’ was also great! Thank you Duke William! We would definitely stay again if we find ourselves in this part of the world.

Lovely stay in a beautiful village pub

Such a lovely mini break at the Duke of William. Everything about it was perfect. Nice room, comfy bed, powerful shower, delicious food, first class service and the best breakfast I’ve EVER had!! 
The lady this morning said we love our jobs and you can tell. And they were super sweet with our dog. And and it’s set in a picture box pretty village. 

Can’t recommend more highly 😀

Delicious food delightful staff great place

Ate a very mediocre meal which was over priced.. it did not taste’home cooked’ and the menu was very limited. Basically burger or gnocchi for a choice of hot main meal! No bread was placed on the table.
The atmosphere was very noisy due to a drunken celebration in the garden room and the mens toilets were apparently‘absolutely disgusting’.
I will not be returning!😡

Very disappointing dining experience

We book a room as we were attending a wedding locally, 
When we arrived we had the warmest welcome!! 
We were showed to our room which was clean and had everything we needed for our nights stay. 
We arrived back from the wedding again a warm welcome. 
We sat in the pub and had a dessert, cheese and crackers with a glass of port. Both were great!! 
The bed was comfortable. 
We had one of the best breakfasts we have ever eaten. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked. 
Again the staff were amazing!!

A must place to stay…..

We stayed in February and again in April. Loved it the first time, loved it just as much the second. Yes you could hear the hubbub of people chatting from our room MPW but it is to be expected in an old pub and once you accept that you might find it quite relaxing! We found all the staff lovely and despite not doing food on a Sunday night they gave us all the bits and pieces we needed to eat a takeaway . We really enjoyed the meal we had here in February.
We felt like we were locals on our first stay which is down to those who work and drink in the Duke. I wish it was in my neck of the woods. Fortunately for us my sister in law lives in Deal nearby, but this is where we’ll choose to stay in future.
And apart from all that , I think it is good value for money too.

Fantastic place !

We stayed due to a power cut at home. From start to finish the team could not have been any more understanding and welcoming. As my husband needed to work from his room they ensured we had a room with great WiFi access. Our elderly dog was warmly welcomed as well! The room was lovely- we stayed in Ramsay at the back, it was cozy. The shower pressure was excellent the room had a coffee machine.
Excellent dinner and service and amazing breakfast!
The bar in the evening was busy with welcoming locals. 
We are looking forward to returning!

This pub/hotel is located off  the beaten track in a special part of Kent surrounded by fields and miles of public footpaths. We only came for one night as a base for a tour of the Kent coast. We were greeted by staff and shown to our very well presented room and the access and fire escape routes explained to us, very professional. The whole interior of the pub has a good feel and lots of space leading out to a large garden and fields beyond. There was a variety of lagers and IPA with some unusual brands on offer which we tried, a good selection of wines. The menu provides good options, we tried the Lamb Rump and Skate Wing which based on our experience were exceptional, staff very attentive, we can’t wait to come back and bring some family and friends with us👋👋
