Overall, it was pleasant enough. I think our experience started on a negative as we arrived early as our boat booking had been cancelled due to storm Kathleen. The place was virtually empty with young staff stood around chatting. I asked the girl behind the bar (not sure of her name, blonde hair, caterpillar false eyelashes) if she could check whether our room was ready early? She didn’t even bother to check just said “no 3pm is check in” then continued chatting to colleagues. I then visited the ladies bathrooms and they needed cleaning, someone had been ill in one of them and the other was blocked.

Fortunately, when we did check in at 3pm Ryan was friendly and welcoming and he seemed to be working very hard the whole time we saw him there.

Positives :
- amazing location, beautiful views 
- nice decor 
- spacious family room 
- nice cocktail menu
- Dog free lounge relaxing with board games to play.

Even better if:
- food is massively overpriced with small portions. £17.50 for ham, egg and chips, £20 for fish n chips.
- breakfast was okay, but the hot plates need turning up as it was all cold apart from the beans.
-breakfast needs some fresh fruit options.
- bathroom in room 16 needs a new bath, and a shower screen rather than shower curtain. Rust around the taps and mould.
- bathroom had some hairs from previous guests and cobwebs in the corners.
- more areas to relax with a drink, the dog free lounge was great but small and no one ever cleared away the empties. We had to clear the tables ourselves. Maybe the area near where you check in could have sone arm chairs and sofas rather than just dining tables?
- staff training. Maybe some scripts could be given to staff about how to interact with customers (just thinking about our arrival)
-10am is too early for check out when there’s a strict 3pm check in. It offers very little value for money.

Overall, it was fine, but I wouldn’t return which is a shame as the place is in an excellent location. It has put me off trying any of the other hotels in the Inn Collection as we’d never stayed on one before.

3 star hotel charging 4 star prices

We visited for Easter Sunday lunch. Staff really friendly and helpful. We asked for pie and they agreed as long as we could wait 30 minutes for them to be cooked. We were happy to do this and appreciated the offer.    The dinner was very tasty, although the pies needed an extra five minutes cooking as the base was still partly uncooked, which was a shame as they had been so accommodating. Well worth a visit, the view of the lake is stunning.

Friendly restaurant

Wow, wow, wow, what a special place that has won over our hearts. Brought my partner here as part of his 30th Birthday year celebrations and what an experience we had. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed Thursday 28th March to Sunday 31st. 

Staff are one in a million and go above and beyond. Can’t thank them enough and nothing is too much trouble. 

The location is so peaceful and magical with fabulous grounds with lots to explore. We enjoyed the walks into Coniston and enjoyed the walk to Torver on recommendation from our waitress on the Thursday night. The food was out of this world and well worth the price. Keep doing what you’re doing. 

We enjoyed the Old Man of Coniston walk which is simply stunning and beautiful-people were very encouraging and lovely which made the walk even more memorable. The walk is a hard walk so be prepared to be pushed out of your comfort zone!! 

We stayed bed and breakfast and the standard was astounding. Not only was there a continental option and a hot buffet selection, people who had bed and breakfast could also order off the separate breakfast menu at no extra cost. 

Thanks again for the most amazing stay. We feel so relaxed and didn’t want to leave.

Fantastic in to.spend a few nights at. The location is 2nd to none the staff were fantastic the food well.again best I've tasted in a.lo g while. I can't fault this place.loved it loved.the fact you can take a nice brew and sit by the lake and relax. I will  be back. Thanks to all.

Great 63rd birthday treat

We had the most amazing time at this exceptionally clean, friendly and beautiful hotel. The food was amazing and the staff very attentive and helpful.  Stunning views of the Lake District. Many thanks for a wonderful stay 

Excellent service

 Nice location, extensive gardens, and easy walking distance to Coniston. Food was good.

Disliked · The service model is awful and certainly bewildering to the many foreign customers. Disliked having to order everything at the bar, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You even have to get your own cups and saucers at breakfast along with your tea or coffee. There is no table service at all, except for the delivery of food. There's an annoying doorbell ring that goes off every time a dish is ready. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The Scottish lady is like a ray of sunshine. What this place desperately needs is a dynamic and talented manager who has the vision to change things for the better and fewer paper driven processes. It would appear that the present incumbent has been there for a long time. The room was functional, lighting poor, and the bed was uncomfortable. We were also chased repeatedly after checking out for an outstanding balance that had been paid three hours previously.

Nice Location - Good Food.

Unbelievable horrendous ignored by staff for 40 minutes food inedible slop bar staff couldn’t open a bottle of wine ? Never ever again , disgusting . No apologies from anyone , take no notice of good reviews this place is the pits 

Don’t ever come here & eat

This was our first time staying at the  Coniston Inn for a much needed break . The location is absolutely stunning , dramatic scenery at every turn within a calm and peaceful setting . The view from our room was spectacular overlooking the fields of sheep and lake beyond . Our room was spacious , spotlessly clean with a very comfortable super king bed too . This place really has the potential to be absolutely perfect but they need desperately to improve the quality of the food . The standard of meals is very much “mass produced weatherspoons“ rather than chef quality . Every evening there would be at least two choices they had run out of . The macaroni cheese was the worst meal we had , tasteless and bland . The chicken meal being the best of a bad bunch . Between us we tried most on the menu staying here for 6 nights .
If the food improved I’m sure this could easily be a 4 star hotel . Superb location that could not be faulted . 

Great location ,disappointing food 

Went for breakfast. We were not guests, but they accommodate non residents. The breakfast was almost £17 with a coffee. It was awful. The scramble eggs were powdered, not well mixed and sloppy. One sausage, egg and bacon. It was cold and so not worth it. I won’t be going there again and I would advise to wait an hour for other local cafes to open.
