This B&B is very well located for exploring some of the country's most beautiful gardens (Great Dixter, Scotney Castle, Bateman's, Sissinghurst) and the lovely Kent countryside and villages. It's also close to Bodiam Castle and Rye. 

Our purple room was only 75 pounds a night, which we felt was good value for money. However, we booked at the last minute so did not have much choice - it was rather small (no room for seating, virtually no space at the end of the bed) so we would have opted for the larger room and paid more if it had been available. 

The room was very clean and very stylishly decorated and the bathroom was a definite highlight - the shower was large, very powerful and an absolute dream! The bathroom was far superior to most you get for this sort of price. The house itself was also beautiful. It has free parking and backs on to a lane that leads to some gorgeous countryside. 

So why only three stars? We would definitely have rated the B&B 4/5 if it hadn't been for a few niggles. Firstly, our welcome from the man of the house was rather cold and not very friendly - just got straight down to business. We've stayed in lots of B&Bs and part of the reason people stay in them is for their warm, personal welcome, so we were a bit disappointed. We don't expect the red carpet but a smile, saying things like "hello" and "welcome" instead of just " follow me " and a bit of polite conversation about our journey and the area would have been nice.

Second, on arrival we had to order our breakfast for the next day. Now, ordering roughly what you're going to have (omelette or full
English or just normal continental) is quite common in small B&Bs but we've never been asked the day before whether we'd like tea or coffee or white or brown bread! We would have preferred to have just ordered those bits during breakfast. 

Breakfast was well cooked, but it would have been nice to have some things out on the side like fresh fruit, yoghurt etc as usual in a B&B as we just had what we were served. Also, there was quite a palaver over the tea/coffee order and our order was checked again which didn't cause too much of a problem but would have been avoided if we'd ordered there and then instead of the night before! 

Finally, the room was straight on to a very noisy, busy road that was noisy until after midnight. And as the room is small you feel like you can't escape it! There's nothing the owners can do about this but unfortunately it did rather spoil what was meant to be a bit of a country retreat for us. A mad dash to a local Boots before it closed meant that we had ear plugs, which dulled the noise enough to get some sleep. But just relaxing and chatting in the room was not very pleasant because of the noise. Perhaps thicker windows and black out curtains (they're very thin and we were awake as soon as it was light) would help too. 


Excellent location but a bit disappointed

In a small plot in the countryside, charming welcome, clean and comfortable house, spacious rooms. Breakfast was very good, exchanges with the housekeeper very friendly. Parking at the back of the house very convenient.

Home and charming rooms

Lovely tidy B&B situated 10 mins from Bodiam Castle. Nice size room bed was slightly uncomfortable and walls very thin, could hear couple in next room. If you are looking for peace and quiet you are near a busy main road. Breakfast was good but small. Full English isn't full. No beans no hash browns, cereals available, its a shame seems like I am having a go but I would say be prepared for a light breakfast. It is beautiful B&B but not quite worth £90

Nice but OK

Really liked this B&B. Immaculately clean, accommodating hosts and everything you need is there. Liked all the extras; dressing gowns and nice products in the bathroom. Breakfasts was lovely, particularly the fruit compote. The only thing that could improve things is a black out blind. 

Cute B&B 

I stayed at the Tudor Rose as it provided parking and was well located for my needs as I just needed somewhere to sleep. The room was spotlessly clean and was stocked with everything I needed - hairdryer on request. There did not appear to be anyone else staying there the night I stayed. Breakfast was adequate. As previous guests have noted the road to the front is busy and traffic noise could be irritating if one is a light sleeper.

Convenient for me

This wonderful B&B is simply perfect! I have been staying here regularly since February for work and can honestly say that it has everything to make your stay exactly what you want it to be. The rooms are spotless and very well equipped and nothing is to much trouble for Rosemarie and Michael. They always make me feel very welcome and comfortable, with a great balance of warmth and friendliness with privacy and respect.
The breakfasts are amazing with such attention to detail! 
I would most definitely stay here with my family too as it is such a great location.

Perfect B&B a real Gem

We booked this on a whim, just to get away for a weekend, and it proved to be a very good choice. Our room was lovely- clean, spacious and bright. Rosemarie was friendly and welcoming , the bed was really comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. The Tudor Rose has a  relaxed and happy ambience , and we will definitely come here again.

Lovely weekend

We were very satisfied in the Tudor Rose. The room is small but functional, including Wi-Fi. The breakfast was very, very tasty. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly, without being intrusive. She helped us very much in finding a dentist. Very nice! It is also recommended that the Oak&Ivy pub, which can be reached on foot in a few minutes, food and beer were great. Unfortunately, the B&B is located on a driveway, so it is not very quiet there.
