Had a fantastic stay here. Clean, comfortable great location. Beds so comfy 5 sisters in 1 room each with there own bed so roomy in the room. Host was very welcoming and helpful. Fantastic price can’t wait to go back. 

Fantastic carefree break with sisters. 

Basic, outdated room's and decor,  room's could do with updating  and modernising. 
Basic continental breakfast Brought to room at 8.30 am.
1 pain du chocolat, 1 banana, 1 yoghurt 1 peice of toast, 1 juice per person ( not enough for growing teenagers)
Room was not the cleanest, had to wash the glasses before we could use them.
Bathroom was very small and not the cleanest.
Host was very pleasant and helpful as to giving directions of where to go etc.
We did arrive a few hours early, we knew we couldn't check in until 2pm and asked if we could park the car so we could go for a walk until we could check in but he said we couldn't  so ended up spending £6 for 2 hours parking until we could check in.
Nice quiet area, nice small guest house but need modernising.

Basic but ok

We booked the triple room with our own private bathroom, all very clean, not a very modern place but did the job for our overnight stay. 
Private parking was a bonus. The guy who met us & looked after us during our stay was very friendly, polite & welcoming. 
Location is perfect - short walk to city centre. 
Fair price overall.

Positives: good WiFi connection, ok breakfast selection especially during corona, Maria is very friendly 

Drawbacks: parking situation very difficult (although nice to have free place to park in city), room and bathroom had obviously not been cleaned since previous guest (even more worrying during this pandemic), no space in the room, decor very outdated, TV remote not working

Menzies Guest House good for a city break

I can say that we were very lucky that we were able to do the proposed city break in Edinburgh again, as we returned home, the world stopped.

Menzies Guest House is a good accommodation for a city breack the rooms are clean, the towels change every day, breakfast is acceptable and wifi goes well in the room.

The distance to the center ~ 15 - 20 min is not a ipediment unless it rains

Clean and cosy rooms, good breakfast, location near the city centre and very friendly and helpful owners - what else could one ask for? Stayed here for four nights and would definitely come back again!

A lovely guesthouse near the city centre

It is located in a quiet neighborhood about 20 minutes from the center. Clean, friendly staff, only inconvenience reduced time to enjoy breakfast, especially penalizes those who go on tours that start at 7.30 and breakfast is from 8.30 to 9.30.

The guesthouse is relatively centrally located. It's a rather old building and the outside is unattended. The house is clean inside and has eight rooms. We had a room in the top floor with a community bathroom. The room was neatly covered with old furniture, so there was almost no room. But it was clean. The owner is not very friendly and you can sometimes find him downstairs in some kind of office. Breakfast buffet is fine but there is no water and the empty honey was on the buffet for two days. Very impersonal guesthouse. We were given a choice of shelter for the next stay, especially since the choice is huge.

We went with 3 friends and thought it was great for what it is, sleeping. At breakfast we lacked a little more variety. Still, the quality price was very good. Comfortable to walk to the centre (10 minutes). The lovely cleaners. We liked it! A good place to choose if we went back to Edinburgh.
