Very clean and warm. Free parking. No cooked breakfast but cereals milk fruit  provided in the dining room. Very quite on the night. Room was lovely with a hot shower and tea coffee tray. Beds comfortable. Just around the corner countless buses going to the Royal Mile and Princes Street. 30 Minute walk to the Royal Mile. Would not hesitate to stop here again. Highly recommend.

Excellent Guest House

Unfortunately due to Storm Babet we were unable to travel to Edinburgh having taken the advice of Scotland's Statutory agencies not to travel or be faced with significant weather disruption. Whilst we got immediate refunds for all accommodation with no questions asked (including a neighbouring hotel in Edinburgh and a hotel in Pitlochry), sadly Sonas chose to refuse us a refund and not offer any alternative, i.e., reschedule or credit to a future booking. Particularly when we wanted to support a local smaller business, we have been left disappointed regarding the level of customer service we have received and out of pocket by circumstances beyond our control.

All we can say is beware if you have a family emergency, bereavement, illness or faced with the rare weather warning that Scotland sadly faced with loss of life and destruction, as you will not receive any compassion or resolution by this accommodation; they just want your money. 

Also, when you book you get an email stating they don't offer breakfast (when it's a B&B) so that should have been our first red flag.

A warning to future customers

We stayed here for 3 nights. We were attracted to this place because it had free on-site parking. It was a spotlessly clean ensuite room with king bed and a single. We could easily walk to The Royal Mile but there were buses about 50 metres from the Guest House. Our room was number 5 on top floor with stairs only no lift. Very quiet place. Breakfast provisions in room were basic but appreciated. Everything we needed was here. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Beautiful Guest House

This lovely guest house in a quiet neighborhood was the perfect retreat for me on weekend holiday traveling solo . Stewart was warm and pleasant in greeting me on my arrival. I had the downstairs garden room . The bed was so comfortable and inviting. Linens were fresh and many unexpected room amenities - bathroom toiletries , hot pot w coffee and tea , continental breakfast items and a to go snack bag . 
Sonas House was a little over a mile from the Royal Mile and Princes St, on the 3,8 and 31 bus line literally around the corner . I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

A quiet guest house not too far from city center

We had a perfect stay in Sonas Guest House. It’s a beautiful house in a quiet neighborhood. The room was very charming, in best condition and very clean. 
Since my friend has been celebrating his birthday there was a bottle of Prosecco and cookies in the room! We appreciated it a lot.

A very good experience

Very clean and nice room, 30 min by walk from Royal Mail, or easy and frequent buses going downtown. 

However no served breakfast, therefore the room rate is expensive for what we get.  

Warm welcome as always here in Scotland.

Not a bad place at all, still not quite value for money.

Good place

This is a lovely guest house in a good location. Our room was spacious and nicely furnished, with a pleasant view of the neighborhood and a big window that opened to catch the breeze.  Everything was spotless. Tea/coffee and snacks provided, which we really appreciated. (Breakfast was not included due to Covid wariness, but in addition to the snacks there was also fresh fruit and cereals available - a nice touch.) Location is ideal for visiting Edinburgh without being right in the high-traffic, high-rent area of downtown. A block away you can catch a bus to the Royal Mile and be there in 10 minutes. Highly recommended.

Spotless and Lovely

Sonas Guest House is in a good location and just 20-25 min stroll to many major city centre attractions. It is also near a main bus route. 
The guest house is beautully furnished and well kept.
The proprieter, Irene, is a charming host. She was happy to advise on getting about the city as well as other not so obvious places to see.
Our room at the front of the house had views of Arthurs Seat. It was spacious with a small en-suite and was well furnished with a very comfortable bed. It was spotlessly clean. Irene provides a tea and coffee tray and bottled water. Although breakfast was not included, each room was provided with a bag of breakfast snacks including instant oat pots, breakfast bars, fruit juice and a pastry which were also useful for a daytime snacks.

Good guest house in a good location

We received a lovely warm welcome from Irene who’s a real character. Irene recognised we were a couple and changed us to a double room from a twin which was a nice touch. Sonas is comfortable and immaculate and I’d definitely go back when we’re in town. Easy bus ride or walk to city so convenient location. Parking is always a bonus in the city.

Charming

A lovely quaint guest house slightly out of the hustle bustle of the city centre. Irene was extremely friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. 

Rooms very clean, perhaps a little small but we didn't mind, with lots of nice touches, tea/coffee, chocolates and bottled water. 

About a 30 minute walk to the main attractions but there are plenty of buses and the walk itself is pleasant with plenty of shops, cafe's and bars to stop at along the way. 

Look forward to visiting again.
