very reasonable cost. Food was good and a handy place for visiting other villages. There was music downstairs on the night we were there and the sound travelled upstirs. Make sure you don't stay in a room over the entertainment area!

Nice hotel when it was open but it has been closed for over 2 years so why have I been asked to write a review on it ????? If it ever reopens it could be made nice especially as they had a small pool & Jacuzzi. and only an easy bus/car ride to centre of Durham

This place is CLOSED and has been for over two years
Can’t understand why trip advisor has not blocked this hotel as it’s been closed for years and is derelict 
It’s a ghost hotel falling apart and down

ITS CLOSEDOWN 

Closed permanently.  Booked in April for end of June.  Got to this hotel and it had obviously been closed for business for months.  No one informed us so we had nowhere to stay when we arrived.  At first the chain called Coast and Country said it was not their problem as booked through Groupon.  But did eventually call back, when we were on our way back home, and offer us 5 nights in another of their hotels that was at least an hour away.  The other hotel was ok but not great.  Not a nice surprise.

Ghost Hotel

yes when we and our freinds go to the north from Grimsby we allways seem to end up here its a big hotel lots of rooms good prices and a good base for looking round the county .and if you like to hope on a bus you can go up the road to the next village chilton were they have a lovely working mans club they make you very wellcome.

needs some ltc

Stayed on a four night break with Shearings.  Warm welcome and given a nice clean room with a bath (as requested). The staff were efficient and very friendly. The meals were very adequate and if you are not fussy, very nice. Used the pool a few times and the temperature was just right. The jacuzzi was very warm. The evening entertainment was great considering the attendance they got.!!! Met some great new friends.

Winter break

Stayed at the Eden Arms Hotel with my partner recently and had a lovely time. Leisure area was worth a visit. The staff were all friendly (must be a northern thing). The food was hot and tasty, compliments to the chef. I was a bit wary at first as the hotel seems far away from everything but Brett was absolutely fantastic he was very knowledgeable about the local area and showed us how to get to some fantastic little places using local transport.  I would stay again.

Lovely old hotel

I found the hotel well run, reception helpful even the night porter. The restaurant and bar was well run and the meals well cooked and presented. I would like to mention Lindsay and her staff who made our wedding anniversary celebration a special evening for my wife and myself.

Plenty of interesting places to visit in the near vicinity

Stayed her in room 1 which was pleasantly spacious and well appointed. The green and black chocolates and shortbread were a nice touch. Food was ok. Did not use the spa but could smell the chlorine from reception. Would have no hesitation in staying there again

An interesting hotel

Stayed there 10th to 14th February.  All staff worked hard and were friendly and approachable.  Nice room,  gym,sauna and spar.  Pool on the cool side but didn't deter me from swimming every day. Was warm enough once you got going. Food good, breakfast buffet style so we got a good start to the day. Evening meal portions were adequate and pnce had all three courses had had sufficient. Two entertainers could have been better. Thanks to All the Eden Arms staff for making our holiday enjoyable and comfortable,especially Janet and Lindsay.
