I have been to the Dolphin numerous times over the years, as there are limited options in Gorey.... it is a really odd place, as the tables are very clinically laid out with no atmosphere, and there is usually the odd really drunk person in there.... I've always thought that that was part of the relaxed nature of the place and never thought too much of it... live and let live etc (I like to have a few beers myself).... however today i was meeting a friend there who has a very well behaved dog... the barman in there told us that dogs needed to stay outside.... I just thought that that was really weird.... they're happy to have really drunk people in there (who never seem to be thrown out), but they don't welcome well behaved dogs!! I thought relaxed open minded places would also accept dogs.... such a shame.

Not dog friendly

First class service - no matter how busy they are the service is always very prompt and friendly. A very good range of dishes - well worth a visit. Portions are always of a good size and the fish and salads are always very fresh.

First class service and lovely food

Located in beautiful Gorey Port we had expected a pleasant supper here . Unfortunately the prawn and mussel dish ordered came with cold mussels and little apology from the kitchen . The environment wasn't wonderful either ( inside the bar area ) . 

Not up to expectations

One of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Good generous food and drink. Lovely staff and a great setting by the sea. My only complaint would be the noise from the other bars outside. Great atmosphere.  Recommended 

August holiday

Stayed at this Hotel in May 2023.  Used this has a base for boat fishing trips in St Helier.
Being disabled with a multitude of problems my PA came along with me for the week.
We stayed on a half board basis.
The first few days were very nice with the waiters overly helpful in a way they were expecting a good tip at the end of the stay. Halfway during the trip i became quite unwell and was unable to drink nothing but water at the evening meals. The attitude of the waiters quickly changed because we both did not order wine or drinks from the bar to have with our meals.. On one  of the evenings we were the first seated for our evening meal and our order was taken 15mins before others arrived for there meals. It was noted by ourselves that those who ordered wine and drinks were getting there meals before us, the exact same meals we had ordered. Because of this we quickly departed and ate elsewhere. We were also charged £36 for two pints of lager and one brandy by a waiter who came running after us when we were walking to the bar for our coffee, we later found out that we had been overly charged but could not proof it because the receipt we were given did not show the prices. At the weekend the Hotel bar gets very rowdy with locals, on one of the evenings fighting and severe bad language was aimed at a elderly Hotel stayer who took offence to the severity of the swearing, the police were on scene but were very slow to defuse the situation at the disgust of other Hotel stayers.
  If you do plan to stay at this Hotel with children do not stay at the weekend, due to the constant swearing by drunken locals.  Aways ask for a receipt with all your drinks and compare the prices at the Bar. Gorey itself is a lovely place but our trip was spoilt due to bad attitude of the waiters and constant swearing coming from the bar and outside tables on the evenings..Be very aware that the waiters are very false and only after your money. 

CONSTANT BAD LANGUAGE FROM LOCALS USING THE BAR AND OUTSIDE TABLES.BE AWARE OF OVERLY HELPFUL WAITERS RIPPING YOU OFF

Lovely room with lovely views very clean lovely friendly staff and the food is amazing had various meals here this week had three courses and had the lobster Theodore it was amazing would recommend it well worth the money would give it 5 stars pus

Great lovely friendly hotel

Clean, comfortable but a bit tricky to park. Restaurant downstairs is really good and we had several meals here. Room was small but quiet and well appointed. Staff pleasant and hard working. View of the harbor front and Gorey Castle rear.

Great Food.

Amazing food, the service was fantastic and the views and venue are absolutely perfect. Thank you so much, we had the best time ever and wanted to celebrate the fact we had the most exciting sighting of Dolphin's on a boat trip yesterday. We will definitely be back soon x

Sunday Lunch Sea Food Platter

Called for drinks only and really enjoyed what we had. The staff were very pleasant and the lager went down a treat on a hot day. The location is superb and the bar area was very clean when we visited. The food going out looked good too.

Good hotel

We called into the Dolphin for a substantial lunch. Chose the Portuguese Sardines and was served 4 chubby sardines, charcoal grilled to perfection by the Portuguese Chef. A really  lovely change from the usual pub food. Although very filling we also managed the Profiteroles laced with Chocolate sauce. Thoroughly recommend the restaurant!
