Awful, we were ripped off! 
Terrible food, service was poor, hotel is used by drug dealers and it’s not clean or safe… there as building tools and supplies left in the toilets. We felt sorry for the staff!
Avoid this place at all costs!

Zero!

Not called the Queens Hotel any more , it's a "restaurant " serving all you can eat , breakfast  , lunch and dinner . Tried it for Sunday lunch today , November 27th , advertised beef , turkey or pork on outside board , paid £24 for me and my hubby , went to the food counter , selected our veggies , only pork available,  fatty pork slices , suspended in luke Warm water.   I asked the waitress for a different choice of meat , she said the turkey is coming soon .No mention of any beef !
One hour later , I was still waiting for my meat to arrive ! We had finished our lunch , we were offered , tea , coffee or squash with our meal , for £2 each , hubby asked for coffee , told the coffee machine was not turned on , I chose squash , the orange squash would not mix with the water , it remained in the bottom of the glass like an egg yolk !
Overall , awful 😖  . Give this place a wide berth 

Awful meal

I've booked a room twice at this hotel and both times the hotel cancelled the booking with a few days notice - no explanation. By the time they cancel the booking, it's too late to book anywhere else decent, so it's caused me a lot of inconvenience.

Avoid

It's a great hotel for leisure, with a cafe, and night music, delicious food, clean room, places to go for a walk, lots of walking shops, responsive staff, I like it all!!!!!

My mother was unfortunate enough to stay at this hotel on a trip away and received bad service as well a sub standard room (one mug, no kettle, room that appeared not to have been used). She tried raising issues with staff when she was there but they claimed to work for the restaurant only and not the hotel so couldn’t help her. Upon returning home she sent an email stating her disappointment.  This is very rare for my mother as she NEVER complains so I knew it had been a bad experience. She received a response offering her a £20 voucher, and stating that she had been misadvised by staff. Whilst appreciative of this gesture she responded (very politely), stating that the voucher would not even cover the cost of a meal for 2 never mind the travel costs as it is not local. 

The response that came was nothing short of gobsmacking. The abuse directed at my 67 year old mother was shameful, and left her feeling extremely upset. I have attached a screenshot of the email so people know what kind of person is running this establishment. Avoid at all costs, unless you are prepared to be treated like dirt. He advised her to stay away - I consider that threatening behaviour. There is no chance she or anyone else should step foot anywhere near this business.

Avoid unless you want a torrent of abuse

What a lovely meal we had at the Queens Brasserie Thursday’s Steak Night. 2 lovely steaks, cooked to perfection, a choice of sauces with Fries or New Potatoes. To follow, a cheese board. Included in the price, a bottle of wine, we had the Red. Honestly, it was probably the nicest Steak we’d had for while. The price, £30.00……Fantastic,  The staff were all polite & professional. Thank you Queens Brasserie. Recommend you try it.

Thursday Steak Night Gem

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights .  On the  2nd night there was a nightclub drum and base blasting until 4.30 am in the morning and I felt as though I was in the same room as it.   Absolutely no sleep and when I mentioned it in the morning to one of the staff she just said that guests should be warned about it before they book.  I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nights sleep.  Its a very basic hotel also.

Noisy nightclub

So glad we booked the Queens for a lovely evening out with friends. The Thursday night menu of steak, wine, cheese was perfect. All was well presented and cooked exactly to our liking. (4 of us ) The staff were friendly ,patient and professional. We do not go out very often, but will certainly return to try something else on the menu in the not too distant future. No complaints at all.

A great place to dine out close to home

Room was so dirty and thick with dust, shaved hairs all in sink and shower, one cup for 2 people to share, empty bottle of water left on side, remote with no tv on the wall just a bracket! Ironing board with no iron, felt like we were chucked into a room that’s never used last minute even though we prebooked  in advance, not a good experience atal

Birthday trip

Lovely staff, lovely old building with an incredible bar, and brilliant food.  Every member if staff is friendly it has a real family feel.  I cant understand why anyone would leave a bad review, its lovely.  There is entertainment on weekends which can make it noisy seemingly but we didn’t feel that at all. Amazing value, £60 for a double room with a brilliant plated breakfast and a lively renovated bar area, what more can you ask for.
