I stayed here in August 2019 and booked an extra night because I liked it a lot. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was a highlight. The best thing was the breakfast though. The host is working extremely hard to make one's stay a pleasant experience. I recommend this place. 

Great B&B

This is a very cosy family run B&B - we were walking St Oswalds Way and found this a great start to a fairly challenging walk - especially as Julie gave us a lift to the start - all local cabs had refused to take us as they were all on school runs - without Julie we may have given up there and then - and we even managed a great breakfast before leaving. Deserves every success.

Exceptionally friendly.....

Very easy to get to, parking wasn't a problem at all. Door code entry system was perfect for us as we returned from a wedding at 130am. The room (Moor) was large and spacious with a giant king sized bed. It had a large set of drawers to put our items on and the room came with tea/coffee facilities. 
We had a great sleep and started breakfast at 8am as we requested the previous night. The choice of tea and coffee was great with the addition of orange juice. We opted for the all day breakfast which was perfectly cooked and delicious. 
Julie was very pleasant to talk to and overall the stay was brilliant and would definitely return.

Fantastic B&B

Julie was very prompt with the booking and was easy to contact.  I liked being able to access when convenient by door code and the room at the top of the house was large with great bathroom attached.  Very handy location for Hexham town centre.  Julie explained about the residential parking and we found a nearby spot, no trouble at all.  I would recommend a stay here.

No fuss accommodation

I had a couple of questions after I booked. The email I received back gave me an idea of the way it would be - ie impersonal - similarly my text indicating my choice of breakfast time was not acknowledged at all.

You are given a door code close to check in time. The location is great very close to high street. The room was very pleasant and I appreciated the tea / coffee facilities. 

Breakfast next morning was grim. A bare looking breakfast bar with unappetising cereals. A glass of orange juice was sitting in a mini fridge by itself. it had been there the night before ..No fresh fruit / yogurts. No warm welcome from the host . My breakfast was poor - 2 hard boiled poached eggs...

I wouldn’t return which is a shame as location and room were good but I expect more of a welcome from someone who has chosen to run a hospitality business



Great location - impersonal service

We loved it here and would definitely stay again. Scrupulously clean, light and airy , central yet quiet ,comfortable beds, wonderful pancakes at breakfast..I disagree with previous review that it felt impersonal. Julie was easily accessible and the ease of access via the key pad suited us very well. Thoroughly recommend. 

Perfect Bed and Breakfast

We had the front room on the ground floor and it was so lovely and roomy. Our breakfast was tasty. There was parking across the street and it was close to the central part of town so we were able to walk to dinner. I love old English inns so this was a delight to me. The owner was very pleasant to us and showed us around. A delightful place to stay.

Charming little B&B

I've stayed here twice now and never been disappointed. The rooms are lovely, bed comfortable and its a great old townhouse type building. The breakfast set me up for the day just grand but above all Julie & Mick are such kind and lovely hosts. Will be back again before long! Thanks guys

A hidden gem of a B&B

We stayed for 3 nights. Very convenient to the town sights and transportation...we didn't have a car.  Breakfast delicious, especially the pancakes and coffee.  We were taking a craft class in the nearby village of Horsley.  Corbridge and Hadrian's wall are very close by too.  Julie was great host.

Lovely little spot

We stayed 3 nights in the Humming Bird Room. The location of the B&B was perfect, close to the high street, and Hexham Abbey. Convenient parking on the side street. Breakfast choices were noted on the blackboard. 

The room itself was nice, however, upon closer look, the room was in dire need of a good clean. The front part of the table on which the TV stood had been dusted, but not behind, where a thick layer of dust was quite visible. We found several packets of pills (left by a previous guest) in one of the side tables next to the bed.

Two of the three lamps didn't work, and as a previous guest has already pointed out the telly was "a work of art to manage as no instructions".

I have to say that Julie was not the most welcoming of hosts. She lives off site, so we did not meet her until the following morning. We came out of our room looking for the breakfast room, when we were met by a woman - who turned out to be Julie - holding a tray. We asked where breakfast was served? "In there!" was the reply. No smile, no good morning, no welcome whatsoever. Our limited chats left us with the impression that we were "in the way". 

She moaned about the fact that she was tired and needed a day off. Does the owner of a B&B really believe that her "paying guests" want to hear this while they are on holiday?

We are returning to Hexham next year for a longer stay. Will we stay at Hexham Town Bed and Breakfast? NO!
