I arrived at this Truckshop on sunday 30th January 2022 and i was turned away by a man in a yellow florescent jacket and i was told that this place is now  closed and been taken oover. I turned up for lunch at around 1pm with my family for Sunday lunch.

Rooms were too warm with no ventilation ~ double size room like a small box, rooms and bedding very clean ~ bathroom spotless with a great shower. The staff were sparse and obviously overworked but their attitude was absolutely first class they made our stay very pleasant ~ the food and drink were excellent and reasonably priced

Dining area clean and tidy and lovely food, just a shame they couldn't get the order right! Didn't bother querying the order as we were in a hurry and only made a quick stop to get a light lunch. Don't think we'll be stopping here again. 

Light lunch

Lovey hotel and very relaxing the breakfasts are certainly worth the price and fair enough the rooms are box standard but for the price it’s worth it and the travel time to the ferry port is only around 5-10mins and with having a local retail park near by your in the right place.

Nice hotel 

Due to several circumstances, the hubby and I used this place 3 times over 2 days and found the staff nice, the atmosphere pleasant and the food edible.  We also found the service hilarious. Each time we ate there, our order was wrong in some way.  For our first meal, I was given a cheese and ham omelette instead of the cheese and onion one I ordered. I wouldn’t have minded, but being a veggie, I asked for my original order. Queue a very long wait, during which my fellow diners finished their meals. For our second meal, the ‘build a breakfast’ option I ordered didn’t come.  We later found out it had been shared onto the breakfast plates of our fellow diners and I again had to wait an age for my food.  On our final visit, we ordered coffee and were immediately given tea.  That time, we sat in the place for 20 minus, and counted 3 occasions where the servers gave an incorrect meal to a customer and had to walk it back to the kitchen, shoulders drooping in despair. Hilarious.  I don’t know why the make so many mistakes, but they do.  Its like the comedy gift that keeps giving.  If you’re bored, go there and count how many times they get it wrong.

Overall though, the place seems unique because it serves truckers, but also has quite a family atmosphere, and offers a carvery some days, which, in view of the sogginess of my hash browns, I was not brave enough to try. Apart from the occasion where I was asked if I would like to have a shower instead of breakfast (perhaps I have a dirty look about myself), the staff are nice, and manage to smile through all the mistakes.

Consistently inconsistent

,ordered a medium breakfast came out literally 2 minutes after I ordered it on a plate that was to small ,everything piled up topped off with a fried egg that was under cooked. Sausages I guess were from the day before overcooked and tasteless all in all a rather unpleasant experience

We called in for lunch & were very impressed with the menu. The prices for food & drink was very reasonable. The service was excellent. Our food arrived quickly & was very good. The staff were very friendly & helpful. This would make an ideal stop for motorhomes, parking over night for a small charge including showers & toilet facilities, a coin operated laundry room, WIFI, games room & a bar. Open for 24hrs. Safe & secure parking. Everywhere was very clean. We’ll definitely been calling again

Great place for a meal & drink. Ideal stopover too.

While it is undoubtedly cheap the room we had was tiny no windows airless snd the air conditioning only ran for 2 hours at a time. It was really only suitable for 1 small person. A most uncomfortable night. However it was clean and the breakfast was reasonanly priced also the staff were helpful and friendly.

This was not our first visit and won’t be our last. Our Daughter lives nearby but we live in Stoke, so when we pop up for a visit it’s a great place for the whole family to eat. From me “The Hairy Trucker to baby Alfie whose food they willingly and carefully warmed up. 
5 adults, 3 kids and a baby all ate a range of meals from Steak and Chips to Chicken Nuggets for our granddaughter and still had change from £50 inc drinks. The quality of the food was as always great and the portions sizes were just about right. I have not stopped here overnight yet either with or without my truck so unfortunately I cannot leave any feedback on that other than to say that the truck park is spacious, well marked out and level. 
We will definitely be eating here on our next visit and on what I can see would have no issue in parking my big green trucking machine here either.

Not Just for Truckers

Hotels to me are a necessary part of my life so they have to fill the basic criteria I am paying for. This one doesn’t. They happily took my £60 off me for a pre booked room at 17.30 with no mention of any problems but two hours later when we came down for food we were informed the kitchen was shut. Finished up with a takeaway back in our poxy little room. Rooms have narrow beds, decent tv and bathroom but nowhere to sit other than on your bed, even youth hostels have facilities and the don’t try and pass off as hotels.
