We booked for x2 nights over the May Bank holiday weekend, and had a great time
The Landlady was very welcoming
We took our x2 dogs, and they were welcome in all area's
we ate there on the first night - not the best, but not the worse we've had, but eh wine went down a treat and we were made to feel very welcome
Breakfast was an improvement, so we booked for same on second morning
We had the four poster room which was very clean and comfy
Would recommend for a cheap and welcoming getaway

Lovely local - very friendly

Had a great dinner on Saturday evening with our friends, warm and friendly atmosphere the host was extremely accommodating nothing to much trouble, We were seated at our table and drinks order taken whilst we looked at the menu at first thought the menu was lacking in choices but still a choice of starters and mains and of course desserts and might I add at a very reasonable price, we all chose our meals and not long after our starters arrived all of a great portion and by the clean plates all very tasty. Myself recently had been reluctant to order fillet steak as in my opinion in other restaurants overpriced and left deflated, congratulations to the glam y Avon the fillet steak was fantastic and cooked to perfection and yes definitely value for money and so it continues with the dessert delicious ginger sponge and custard  we all enjoyed our evening and will definitely be returning, we need to support our local pubs and restaurants before we lose them, so please book a table and go have a meal you won’t be disappointed and the beers not bad

Great dinner

One of the best short breaks we have taken! Room was excellent and bed extremely comfortable, shower was brilliant. We had breakfast in the mornings and was freshly cooked to order. Although we didn’t eat in the evenings we did have Sunday lunch, again brilliant.
Our dog was made more than welcome and the area is perfect for dog walking, nearest dog friendly beach about 20 mins away.
The hosts John & Kerri and there 2 daughters were very helpful and nothing was to much trouble, although Johns pool skills are lacking😉Locals are all very friendly and happy to give any advice as to where to go locally etc.
We are definitely looking forward to October!

A Brilliant Break

We were lucky enough to stay and dine here and it’s a fantastic place.  We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. 

Our room was clean, and comfortable.  It was a warm day but there was a fan provided in the wardrobe.  The bathroom had shampoos and soaps all very good quality and unlike some places 4 loo rolls were provided as well.

The bed was comfortable and the duvet was so cosy I fell asleep straight away.

We had our dinner also here and the food was delicious!  The prawn cocktail had so many prawns and came on a bed of delicious salad as well as with bread and butter.  Next course was steak and guiness pie wow!  This was available as a small or large version.  I had the small and it was so tasty.  The steak was melt in the mouth and plentiful.  This came with chips which were proper home made chips not frozen ones.  Of course I have to mention the vegetables as well!  There was a separate serving of broccoli, carrots and red cabbage which was also included  in the cost of the meal.  My boyfriend had the gammon and this was cooked to perfection this also came with so many extras such as onion rings, egg, pineapple, chips.   We had no room for dessert but enjoyed a few drinks after, knowing we only had to walk upstairs to our room.

Onto breakfast again so delicious.  We had the full breakfast, the quality of the bacon and sausage was fantastic.  Toast, orange juice and hot drinks were also provided.  

The best thing was the staff though.  They were all so friendly and helpful.  Nothing was to much trouble and they made us feel so at home. 

We will be back!  We’re lucky that we have family who live close by so a good excuse for return visits for us!

Fantastic, Friendly, Hidden Gem!

First class service and excellent food, not a huge menu but sufficient for 4 of us to have different meals from fillet steak to fish and chips, starters and sweets were also very tasty and would definitely recommend and we will be going back again.

Family meal out

My wife and I spent Christmas at Acorns Cottage a short distance away and we were overwhelmed by the welcome at Glan Yr Arron.
The owners were very chatty, quickly got to know our drinks and welcomed in the same way they do to their regulars. Food is traditional pub grub, tasted good, and was better than expected for the price with good portion sizes. 

Lots of beer selection and the roaring log fire made a lovely cosy feel

Great Christmas 

My fiancé and I stayed at the acorn luxury pod place few hundred yards away for my 40th birthday, we were delighted that there was a pub with supposedly great food nearby so we didn’t have to go far to eat! Well the hunters chicken was a flat bit of chicken with bbq sauce slice of bacon and cheese slices melted on top, the onion rings were very fatty, and tasted of fish! The steak was very pale in colour almost looked like a pork chop! I work in a kitchen and cook various foods etc, so this to me was horrendous! The menu was very small and basic, not a great deal to offer, and quite expensive for the sort of food served! The staff were friendly, some locals too. 

Food horrendous 

I have only been to the Glan Yr Afon for food, though they also have rooms.  After stopping by for a good trial lunch we booked in there for our chapel's Christmas Dinner.  Both were great.  The staff are friendly and the building has a lot of charm.  Prices were fair and the portions satisfying.

Great Local Public House

Never stayed in a caravan so dirty and run down. Nothing worked properly, toilet seat wouldn't stay up so you had to hold it whilst using it, when closing the drop leaf table you could scrape the debris off the edges it was filthy, couldn't close the blinds in bathroom so they had to stay half way all the time, curtains were hanging down with no hooks to even be able to hang them back up. No free toiletries as advertised in booking.com.No additional toilet as advertised in booking.com.  Pull out bed rusty, dirty and springs loose and hanging off. Had no choice but to stay there as it was late when we arrived and needed to be in a gym competition very early the next morning. Pictures of everything sent to Booking.com in the hope of a partial refund but nothing, all in all a terrible experience.

Be aware do not book the caravan behind the Inn

Just had a retirement celebration for my friend at this lovely, friendly pub/restaurant. It is the third time in recent years that we’ve had a Mass and meal to celebrate a retirement/leaving. With around fourteen people and changes until the day itself, the staff couldn’t be more helpful or the food and ambience better. As an organiser on this occasion and a leaver previously I can’t speak highly enough of the Glan yr Afon and recommend it heartily.
