Had a one night stay for a family wedding we were attending near by. Cannot fault the room we had, beautiful decor and ample size for 2 adults and 2 kids. Continental breakfast was more than enough, topped with fantastic friendly service from start to finish. Thank you

Beautiful room, fantastic service.

Decided to stay in Potton for a change as we wanted to be near to Biggleswade.

Our booking was bed & breakfast. At check in we were informed a cooked breakfast was only available from 10 am and at an extra charge. Instead we could have a Continental breakfast from 7 am, with our intinary this early offering suited us. 
Upon arrival at the early breakfast we were presented with nothing more than a bowl of cereal, sliced bread and a glass of fruit juice. No sign of a meat and cheese platter or any choice of rolls and pastries.

Lovely property and superb rooms but let down by the breakfast experience. Not good value for the amount charged for the stay.


Very good rooms. Not so the breakfast

Amazing hotel, with rooms deigned with alot of thought and attention to detail. Incredibly clean place - the staff team clearly place a very high priority on this. Fantastic breakfasts - substantial and well cooked. Turkish eggs to die for, and good vegetarian options. Friendly staff; nice ambience in the bar; plenty of parking space. 

The place to stay in Bedfordshire

Stayed in room number 1 on the first floor, it was very comfortable with a large double bed and a beautiful fresh-looking bathroom with a very big shower and a lovely bath situated in the bay window.  Tea, coffee etc. and a little biscuit waiting in the room.  The only downside was that it faced out to the market square and was a little on the warm side in the late afternoon.  Room number 7 was also very comfortable, facing the back or side of the building so didn't get the late afternoon sun. Staff were very helpful but mostly quite young and I got the feeling that they were a little inexperienced.  No matter, our stay was not adversely affected.  The restaurant and bar were busy, nice to see that they were attracting business as they deserve to succeed. Breakfast was excellent, we were allowed to order from the children's menu as the brunch-type breakfast would have been too much for us.  Would definitely stay there again.

Really easy check in / out system. Friendly staff. Lively bar - couples mostly - not teenagers.

We didn’t eat here so can’t comment on the food, but the room was lovely. Warm and tastefully furnished. Fantastic barge in the bay window overlooking the square. Really good shower as well. On site parking too.

Really nice

Stayed at the Coach House for 1 night. Standard room booked which was anything but standard! Very clean large room. Extremely comfortable bed! So many little touches! All toiletries provided. Fantastic shower! The staff were so attentive and friendly! And then the food!!!! We ordered steak- large portions, extremely tasty, beautifully presented - excellent! Would recommend and will be going again!

Superb

We’ve been coming to The Coach House since it first opened over 10 years ago. 

Sadly, the most recent experience (lunch last week) was rather disappointing. The Coach House used to have a lovely lunch menu, with the kind of British-cuisine dishes one would expect from a gastro pub/restaurant. Things like pork chop with a red wine reduction, sausages and mashed potato, stone bass with chorizo, fish pie, and many others. All served in one of the dining rooms with good service.

Now we are housed in the main bar area, which is noisy and feels more like a café than a restaurant. The main menu has been changed to steak, back ribs, burgers, all day breakfast, wraps, that kind of thing. Some slightly more interesting things under “small plates” but overall it seems clear that a decision has been made to “downgrade” the food on offer. The ONLY fish dish on this new menu is tuna steak in tomato – oh dear!

I ordered a full English breakfast from the bar menu because literally nothing on the main menu appealed to me. Even that wasn’t very impressive (one sausage, one rasher of bacon, then doubling-up on the cheap things like mushrooms and hash browns – I don't think that it worth the £13 I was charged for it).

The service was also rather lacking, compared with the excellent service of days gone by at The Coach House. Service now consists of rushed order taking and waiting staff who don't appear concerned when a customer points out that the new menu is basically steak/burger-heavy and not particularly inspiring! They weren't rude, they were just "indifferent". Again, similarities with being in a café!

The overall experience left us thinking we won’t be coming back any time soon. It's a real shame to see a place we loved so much head in this unfortunate direction.

Gone downhill recently

I was up in the area for a party and this was the only local option. What an amazing place. I had a beautiful huge double room with a rainforest shower and a comfy bed with Egyptian cotton sheets. The rooms were modern and clean and filled with character. The staff are absolutely wonderful - efficient, friendly and super-helpful. Their breakfast is outstanding. The village is great with a local butcher, baker and everything you need within 5 minutes walk of the Coach House. I’ll be back again for some respite escape from the noise and air pollution of London.

A fantastic find

This is a great place to stay , location overlooking a beautiful historic town centre and quirky individual rooms .. parking and a great bar .. I always find the staff helpful and friendly .. if you like character then this is the place ..I go for rooms 1 and 3 which have stunning bathrooms overlooking the square

Character treat

We loved this little place - and our 11 year old daughter was so excited about the bunk beds. The room was clean, really well decorated, and the layout with the bunk beds was genius as we felt like we had some extra space. Our bed was incredibly comfortable too.

The food in the pub was really good too, and we'll definitely be back
