Woodlice all over the room.  Found two dead on carpet one right i middle carpet when I walked in.  Found another 3 scurrying about over the night and next morning.  Dare to think how many would be under the bed and cupboards etc if there were that many in the open light areas. 

No free parking available for hotel.

Very noisy so if expecting a decent night sleep think elsewhere.

Just a quick trip in Skye. Sadly not long enough. Had a 2 night stay in the Portree for a business trip. Had a great 2 nights sleep. The room was spotless and made everyday. 

The food was lovely and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Great hotel staff and food 😃

Hotel is right on the square in a good location. It is old and quaint, and shows a little wear. We had two excellent rooms that faced the square. Comfy beds. Restaurant is very good. It is not much on atmosphere at all. Tables close together, but not in a fun way like a pub. Based upon the atmosphere we were leary of what the food would be. We were expecting plain, But food was very good. Pork chop was excellent. We ate there two nights.

Good hotel, very good restaurant

WARNING: they will not refund you anything, despite their policy to the contrary.  They require full payment to secure booking and "claim" they will refund you if you cancel more than 48 hours in advance.  This is a lie.  I had booked in Feb 2023 for a September 2023 stay.  Due to family illness, I had to cancel.  I did so more than two weeks in advance.  I had back up of my payment and their cancelation policy.  They sent me a letter that because of a change in ownership, due to prior liquidation, they could not refund me.  They even sent me back a copy of my original invoice, but it was doctored to suggest I had not paid.   So they kept my $800, and more than likely rebooked it with another visitor (Skye in the summer is exceedingly difficult to get reservations so this would have been rebooked very quickly).  This is nothing short of theft.

We stayed at the Portree Hotel for 4 nights in September 2023. We loved the people that worked there! Our room was so cozy. The food was so good! I had a honey pork chop that was one of my best meals during the trip. The only thing to know is that a lot of the hotels on Portree don’t have elevators because they are old buildings. A nice young man named Calum helped us carry our bags up. Every time I wrote Portree Hotel with a question they answered immediately and were so kind and helpful. We had great full breakfasts there. The most convenient location in town. Parking lot right on the square. They always helped us find ways to save on parking with cabs etc. They provided hairdryers and everything we needed. They didn’t need to be that kind. They just were! I saw them take a bit of verbal abuse from travelers who complained there were no places to eat in town because they hadn’t reserved anything ahead and the hotel clerks took it with a smile. I can’t rate then highly enough I would go back there again in a minute! Such a great place for a home base.

Better than home away from home!

Just had a weekend at the Portree Hotel and couldn't fault it. Room was comfy, warm and spotlessly clean. We ate at the hotel on both nights and the food was amazing.
The staff are all lovely and the young staff in the restaurant and bar in particular are an absolute credit to the hotel. We shall return!

Great Hotel, Staff & Food

A. lovely welcoming Hotel was attended to by a young lady called Hazel who was very pleasant and accommodating.
There is plenty of parking adjacent to the hotel we had a lovely full Scottish breakfast highly recommended comfortable room good showers would visit again.

Ticks all the. Boxes

Really poor experience. Bar man ‘Sandy’ was very threatening towards us for no reason. Clearly took a disliking toward us. Went to many nice pubs in portree before this one. Bad atmosphere. Not worth the visit. Won’t be back.

Horrible place

Lovely hotel in the center of Portree.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly.
Our room was well heated and comfy.
The breakfast is included in the price and we had plenty of choices of food, which was well appreciated.
There is a parking lot in front of the hotel and it was very convenient.

Nice room in the center

Centrally located historic hotel with friendly staff, good food and weekly live entertainment. Good location for walking around the town but no parking is available on site. We stayed on the 2nd floor in a lovely room just above the restaurant with a comfortable king size bed that overlooked the square.
