We arrived at 6pm so were classed as a ‘late check in’, we collected the keys for the cabin from the out of hours office and found the accommodation. It was -6 outside but there was no heating on in the cabin. We turned the electric heaters on but even after hours, the cabin was still freezing. 

We had been told that electricity was included however found 5 power cards in the envelope with the keys. We were rather confused and eventually found the meter and loaded the cards on to it. The next day we went out for the day but had to turn the heaters off so we didn’t run out of electric. By the time we returned we wouldn’t have enough to heat the cabin overnight and as reception was closed, we went to the Boathouse. The staff were completely unaware of the meters as they believed they had been removed months ago. The lady working managed to find us 2 power cards which we hoped would keep us warm and allow us to make some food! I contacted the online chat who also believed the meters had been removed and had no idea how to advise us. The site manager came to see us out of hours, visibly annoyed and barked at us that the £2 we had on the meter would last us till morning and then we would have to go to reception. We visited reception the next morning who could offer us no explanation or help and gave us two more power cards. False advertising considering all advertisements say ‘electricity included’. With the weather being so cold, we shouldn’t have had to be stressing about running out of electric!

The kitchen was filthy. A film or grease seemed to cover all the surfaces, including all the plates etc and cutlery. The water wouldn’t even get hot enough to remove this grease thoroughly. After contacting the online chat before our stay and being abruptly told they are self catering, the lack of equipment is shocking. Not even a pair of scissors or a sharp knife. Mismatched cutlery and old, dirty out of date pots and pans. The oven was filthy. Bins disgusting.  

The dining room furniture was all mismatched and felt sticky to touch. 
The bed is far from luxury, needs a new mattress and more bedroom furniture. The line didn’t even come all the way down the window. There is a general theme of ‘ah, that’ll do’. Considering the outside temperature, a winter duvet would have been nice, rather than the paper thin one provided. 
The bathroom was awful. Dirty toilet, half a toilet roll. Towel rail doesn’t work, towels horrible. Shower was dirty and there were holes in the ceiling. 

Inside doors wouldn’t close properly. Paint chipped in multiple places. Dirty washing up bowl. No tea towel. 

I firmly believe they do not employ a cleaner. All the paperwork tells you to empty your own bins and clean before you leave. We always leave places clean and tidy but I got the feeling here there is no deep clean and no accommodation checks. 

Before a reply comes saying that we should have spoken to someone about this and it would have been sorted:
1. We did report the problems, to reception, the online chat and the site manager. None of whom were bothered 
2. Providing clean accommodation should be standard, not something that should have to be requested. 

We travelled 8 hours for this long weekend away and have been thoroughly disappointed. We always make the most of our time away and spend the days exploring, however worrying about returning to cold and dirty accommodation ruined the atmosphere.

My advice is to avoid!

Fantastic amenities , the woodland cabin was clean on arrival and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We ate at the Boathouse restaurant twice on our stay and the food and service were fantastic both times. There are plenty of walks around the site and up Ben Lawers so our Labrador (Hamish) was well walked.

Fantastic stay and not for the first time.

We arrived on Saturday night and realised we had no hot tub, when we had upgraded to a hot tub as a back up plan incase we weren’t able to get out on our paddleboards. When I went to the reception on the Sunday morning, the lady in reception could not have been more friendly and helpful. (Maggie)
She apologised and refunded us the upgrade and arranged to move us for our final night when one was available. She explained that it was an error with booking.com and I emailed the information over to help her deal with the mix up. The men that helped us with the logs for the hot tub had a good laugh with (or maybe at) us! All in all, a beautiful place with spectacular views and outstanding staff. The outdoor shop in Killin couldn’t have been more helpful also, definitely give them a visit when you go! 10/10

Highly recommended 

Went with friends and just had a wonderful stay. Weather wet but lodge fabulous and it was about being together. Hot tub also great. No noise after 10pm suited us, reduced the need to party as we are all a bit older!!! Surroundings are beautiful and the noise of the waterfall was amazing. Will go again. Boathouse restaurant was good but kitchen winding down so a little disappointing for some in our group. Newcastle waiter was superb. Thanks for a lovely stay. We'll be back.

Beautiful place.

we had a great time  the only thing was people set off fireworks on 5th November at night apart from that everything was great  so the dogs where not good at all the food in the restaurant is good cant wait ill we go back again

great holiday

The holiday park is beautiful it's setting is out of this world. The pod itself was adequate for the 2 of us & the dog for 3 nights, the bed was fine although the seating was not comfortable at all. The log burning hot tub just wouldn't heat up so we didn't use it, we weren't alone in this. 
The Boathouse restaurant was beautiful whether its just drinks or food the staff are lovely and they welcomed the dog. Just be ready for the uphill hike at the end of your visit to the Boathouse back to your accommodation it's very steep.
We would come back but to different accommodation.

Couples Birthday Getaway

Great visit to Loch Tay Highland Lodges for half term - stayed in Eldersburn Lodge, immaculately clean and well equipped. Felt very indulgent with hot tub, stove and deck with those amazing views. Swam in Loch then warmed up in hot tub! Bliss. Lovely staff and facilities too. Frisbee golf good fun. Thanks v much!

Ps - hot tubs are filled on check in day so not guaranteed to be ready on your first night's stay... Understandable to fully clean it, but we hadn't read the small print, kids rocked up expecting to jump right in. Just a heads up for others!

Wonderful stay for February half term

Lovely family weekend break. Location was amazing. Very beautiful and so relaxing. The lodge was dog friendly which was great. The restaurant was really nice, staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

January get-away

Stayed at Loch Tay on numerous occasions and sadly we won’t be returning. Booked a 3 night stay in a dog friendly Woodland Cabin and it was filthy. Visible clumps of dust in radiators, the bathroom fan and along surfaces, cobwebs everywhere, plaster falling off the walls, broken toilet roll holder and bedside light. It’s disappointing that these small repairs are being neglected and that guests are expected to pay extra money to bring dogs due to an enhanced clean being required on our departure yet the cabin appeared as if it hasn’t had even the most basic clean in months. The bed is also like sleeping on cement. 
The reception was closed when we checked in so I emailed over a complaint with pictures when we returned home and they weren’t interested. They stated this wasn’t their usual standard but judging by previous reviews, the place (or cleaners) have definitely gone downhill. 
The area is beautiful and plenty of scenic walks nearby. The log fire makes it lovely and cosy. 
All in all it’s a cracking place but the cleanliness and value for money ruins it. 


Tired and grubby cabin 

First I would like to say I have been to loch Tay a few times and sadly my last after the lodge/cabin we were in wasn’t very clean the flooring needs replaced as all swollen and the dust on the radiators come on months worth of dust not just a week also curtain rails had been screwed back up but holes not filled so every time you close door plaster fell also the door lock was very temperamental loose and struggled to open and lock. Came to relax and had to wash dishes before use and the fact the dust is on these radiators is shocking. When leaving we saw a young girl she was the cleaner. My advice would be get a cleaner rather than paying a young girl penny’s (you only get what you pay for)
