I have stayed in a number of rooms at this hotel over a few years . All of these were comfortable and of a good size   and due to the old building are of  different sizes and layouts which is charming and quirky.

Comfortable and quirky rooms

Booked the bronze spa package as a birthday present for my best friend which was a hassle free process, they were very helpful over the phone and more than happy to assist when I said that we would be staying for my friend's birthday, offering a birthday plate with either dinner or to be put into the room and an early check-in from midday since we decided to go to the spa the day we arrived and wanted to unpack first. Unfortunately, they did not inform me either over the phone or in my email confirmation that the lunch, which was included in the package, would normally be at the spa, or that we would need to book any treatments beforehand.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a very smiley and chirpy young lady who did seem surprised that we had an early check-in but offered us free tea, coffee and nibbles whilst we waited. We were also provided with one free cocktail voucher each because I had booked direct which was a very satisfying touch. When we were ready we were shown to our room, room 1, which I had requested when booking. The room itself was charming and well designed, the gorgeous bathtub making my friend very happy. Although the room is located at the front of the building facing the high street, we both slept very well due to the extremely comfortable bed and the fact that there was very little noise. I had also brought a bottle of prosecco with me and the staff were very happy to arrange for it to be placed in the room upon our return from the spa.

Dinner was absolutely amazing! The staff were so attentive and very knowledgeable about what mains required a side and if so what would compliment each dish. The food itself was delicious, and whilst I first thought the portions were a little small, they proved me wrong as we were both sufficiently stuffed by the end of the meal. Breakfast in the morning was very cute and we were glad of the tour when we arrived as it isn't exactly clear where you are supposed to go. The food was as delicious and filling as dinner as well, and our server informed us that he would try contact the spa for us to arrange lunch there since we had managed to book treatments for that morning after visiting the day before. He did say though that if it wasn't possible then we would be more than welcome to return to the hotel for lunch, which we did do in the end and were again very happy with the food on offer, even though the menu is the same as at dinner.

Overall, we had a lovely stay in such a charming little hotel. The staff were obviously very happy and willing to accommodate us and to offer very satisfying solutions to our very limited problems. I would only ask for a little more clarification regarding the specifics included in the spa packages offered, otherwise, it was a perfect stay.

First time visit, will definitely be returning!

This is our third stay at The Swan & once again it didn't disappoint. We were greeted by friendly & very helpful Jeremy. Josh the duty manager also introduced himself & was very attentive. We stayed in room 7 this time & we loved it, the only thing missing is a nice snuggly bath robe to put on when you get out of the lovely tub! We enjoyed a gorgeous 3 course dinner, the food & service were excellent. We both had the full English Breakfast, which was also very tasty, great service from Luke. Although we'd pretty much finished our breakfast by the time the toast arrived. All in all another perfect romantic night away. 

Third stay here

Back again for the 3rd time. Just can't fault the guys here. We feel so very welcome and relaxed. Thanks to Ruby, Josh and Jeremy who have been such good company again and always make us want to come back. Read my previous reviews about the lovely rooms, food and cocktails.... second to none!
Message for the owners.....great news that Josh and Ruby have promotions, they really deserve them. They always make our stay terrific, great at making you feel one of the family and down to earth. We love it here.....can you tell?

Couldn't be better

We had a night at The Swan as a family. The room was great, well designed and the kids slept on a fold out sofa in a separate room, which is so much nicer than having to share a room. We all enjoyed the huge copper tub! On Sunday we had a brilliant roast in the restaurant then went to an antiques fair and to Long Melfor Hall, it was a perfect weekend getaway.

The only jarring note was the breakfast which was awful! Really one of the worst. Cold, over cooked and rock hard food. After scoring so highly on everything else it really seemed weird and lacking care that they would get this meal so wrong. I discussed this on check out and was told they would pass this feedback on.
