I was made to feel very welcome on my arrival. Room was spotless and had lovely seaview. Great choice of breakfasts in a homely atmosphere. I will definitely be staying here again. 

Excellent value for money

An excellent place to stay. We were delighted with the room, its cleanliness and size. The sea view surprised us. A really delicious breakfast, cooked to order served up in a smart dining room. I recommend this guest house. 

Excellent friendly service

For a year, I've been staying at the Coventry Guest House whilst attending the boatbuilding college in Lowestoft. I couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. It's truly been a home away from home for me. The location is fabulous, right on the beach with great views of the North Sea and the amazing sunrises you get in Lowestoft. The Coventry itself is spotless and tastefully set out, and the breakfast has always been delicious. But the best part has been the lovely couple who run it. Tony and Amanda, thank you so much. I can't express how much I've enjoyed being a guest at the Coventry. I always felt like so much more than a guest! It's not just that if I'm back in Lowestoft, I know just where I will stay. No, it's more than that. I might come back to Lowestoft just so I can stay at the Coventry again! How many guest houses can you honestly say have been a top highlight of a visit to a place? Very few. But the Coventry is one of them. Quite simply, the Coventry is the best place I've ever stayed.

Had a great bank holiday stay here. This guesthouse is in a beautiful location and so close to the beach. We were made to feel very welcome as the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The full English breakfast was lovely, wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Great place to stay

Just got home from a very hot long journey from Lowestoft to Leigh, Greater Manchester,  but totally worth it. Never been to Lowestoft before so booked through Booking.com as I'd read the reviews. We weren't disappointed in any way. Lovely guest house, great position right beside the promenade. 
Room was spotless, tastefully decorated with everything needed.....and if we had needed anything, it would have been provided I'm sure.
The hosts were the best hosts we've experienced and we've stayed in many guest houses all over the country. The breakfasts were superb....every taste catered for.
Tony even carried heavy suitcase up the stairs and Amanda even made us a flask of coffee for our journey.  NOTHING was too much trouble.  
This couple deserve all the business available

Absolutely the best

I am not sure where to start, but what an amazing stay we had! Truly wonderful hosts, couldn’t be more friendly and accommodating when needed. Gorgeous decorated room, clean facilities and beautiful sea view! Location is great. Tasty breakfast to top it off. I highly recommend Coventry Guest House.

Relaxing Business Stay

This review is based on a single room overlooking the sea. I did not see any other rooms so cannot comment on doubles and family rooms.

I was warmly welcomed despite not giving a time of arrival due to circumstances beyond my control. I was shown where the dining room was for breakfast and taken up 2 floors to my room. I was also shown where the shower room was and it was explained it was for my exclusive use (all rooms except singles have en-suites).

The Room
There was a single bed with two pillows and a duvet, all very clean and well presented. The room had a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities. There is a sink in-room so you don't have to walk to the shower room to fill the kettle. A good supply of tea, coffee, milk and sugar is supplied and I'm quite sure you could ask for more. There is a bedside table and a small wardrobe and a small TV on the wall. They also supply a clean dressing gown that you will need if you need to use the facilities in the night.

The shower room
Bigger than the bedroom! A shower, sink and toilet. Clean. Two fresh towels, hand soap and Dove branded body wash. The only slight issue is the shower which is not very powerful, it takes a while to get clean. I would recommend asking a plumber about a booster pump to improve things, of just move to an electric shower.

Breakfast
The dining room is in the basement. If you are less mobile, going from the dining room up to your bedroom on the second floor is three flights of stairs, it could be a challenge so think about that before you book. 
Plenty of choice for breakfast and it seems you can eat as much as you like. Nothing was too much trouble. There is cereal with milk (I saw Kelloggs Corn Flakes, Weetabix and other branded options, plus muesli. There's also yogurt and fresh fruit. They will cook a full English for you, adding or taking away anything you're not keen on. Toast can come with, or after (with jams) your full English. 
Orange juice and cafetière coffee or tea is on tap too. 
One morning I just fancied beans on toast, it wasn't too much trouble at all.
Despite the other review saying the dining room was dismal, perhaps there was another dining room! It is fine, it's the basement, so light is a challenge, but seriously, it's not 'dismal'!

Some facts:

The Coventry never felt busy, I knew they were fully booked most of the time, but because of the 8-10 breakfast, the dining room wasn't ever full. 

The hosts are very nice and cheerful.

Rooms are clean and well maintained.

Fridges in some rooms, not singles though.

The train station is a 15-20 minute walk from the guest house. The town is near the train station.

30 second walk to the beach and Claremont Pier.

Sea view rooms are west facing. Nice for a cool evening in the room. However, they are also on Kirkley Cliff Road, which can be a noisy road. Conversely, rooms at the back will be east facing, so warmer in the evening.

Parking could be a challenge. There is free parking outside the hotel, but finding a space could be an issue. There is a car park opposite within an easy walk to the hotel, but it's a pay car park (hence why there are few spaces for the hotels along the road).

Don't park in the two spaces directly outside the hotel, they're for loading only.

Conclusion
Great for exactly what its there for; a roof over your head for a few days while you enjoy the beach and Lowestoft in general, and its many restaurants and take-aways. A good breakfast to set you up and lovely hosts who can't do enough, but are not in your face.
Cannot give 5/5 as there are areas needing a little attention like the shower and possibly new mattresses could be considered, but absolutely I would stay there again.
