Beautiful cottages inside & out everything you could possibly need in them we stayed the weekend for a 60th birthday so rented all  5 cottages  well equipped for all ages the pool was brilliant for all the children field for all 6 dogs! The bed was so comfortable in Drakes cottages where we stayed the cottages are of very high standard with all fixtures & fittings. Love the touch of pastries & cakes tea & coffee on arrival. We will definitely return soon didn't want to leave especially  the hot tubs in two of the cottages .

Wonderful cottages 5 star.

Three generations of our family had the most lovely time here. I was unsure about the allocated two hour pool time and thought it might be a bit restrictive but it was fantastic to have the pool to ourselves. The games room and sports field were perfect for the teens and the little shop was handy for ice lollies. Wednesday evening pizza in the village square and the village pub - around 20 mins walk away - were highlights for the grown ups. It’s around a hour to the coast but we really didn’t want to leave for long! Simon and Clare were so patient with a few different requests our party had and nothing was too much trouble, and the cupcakes when we arrived were the loveliest thoughtful touch. If you want a wholesome family retreat where you can reconnect with each other, sleep like logs and have a touch of luxury at the same time,  I can’t think of anywhere better. 

Perfect stay at Orchard Cottage 

Had a perfect break over Christmas with family and friends….. beautiful cottage with so many amenities to keep humans and dogs well entertained! 
Arrived to find a well presented cottage which had been tastefully decorated for Christmas with thoughtful gifts left for us and the dogs! 
Great little games room with a pool table, foosball and table tennis to keep both kids and adults entertained, with scheduled pool time so that you can swim with your own party. 
The garden is enclosed making it perfect for the dogs and the hot tub has great views, including of the neighbouring el pacos! 
Fabulous cottage which the owners have thought of so many little details, would definitely recommend!

Fabulous cottage, perfect for dog lovers!

An awesome Xmas stay! Two families, two dogs. This place has everything. The cottages are well stocked with good kitchens, nice bathrooms, comfy beds etc etc… wifi works well enough to stream movies. A log fire made for an idyllic Xmas setting. Stunning views, a large hot tub and plenty of space for the dogs who were very welcome.  A games room and pool helped to keep everyone entertained. There’s liads here for smaller children too, with a play room and outside play area… These guys have thought of everything and we would definitely return, maybe in the summer!

A perfect Xmas stay

This is a lovely 2 bedroom nicely decorated cottage with all the amenities that you may require for our weeks stay. It is in a peaceful, rural and romantic surroundings overlooking fields and farm land. The owners/hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. It is child and dog friendly with indoor and outdoor play area, snooker room, there are Guinea pigs, chickens on site with potential to see the alpacas. There is a lovely private swimming pool and sauna on site, which each cottage has allocated time slots at various times of the day in order to stay covid safe from other guests staying in other nearby cottages located on site. Some of larger cottages on site have a hot tub and although jonquil cottage doesn’t have one it didn’t make our stay any less enjoyable. There is a free car park on site with ample spaces for each cottage, which is located about a minute or two walk to your cottage. You can park right outside Jonquil cottage to load and unload your luggage at the time of check in/out. You may need to duck slightly under one set of beams in the middle of the main bedroom especially if you are over 5ft 6” tall, but it’s not a major issue. The owners/hosts are very welcoming/friendly. Highly recommend Mitre Inn pub, which is about 5 minute drive (under 2 miles away) which has a lovely ambience, friendly staff and does very good home made food. 30 minutes drive away we can highly recommend Spelt restaurant in Bampton which also does very good home made food. Although the cottage is in a rural peaceful location you are not far from A30, Tiverton is about 20 minute drive, Ilfracombe, Exmouth, Lynton and Lynmouth are all approximately 1 hour drive away, however you are fairly close to other seaside towns, national parks, castles and attractions. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend - we hope to be back soon.

Lovely peaceful and romantic jonquil cottage accommodation.

Me and my husband stayed in the Shephard’s Hut and could not have had a more special two days. The Hut is in its own patch of land, completely private and secluded with the most spectacular views. A hot tub, deck chairs, long walks and a Michelin Star restaurant just a short drive away. Freshly baked pastries in the morning and the local pub (which also did great food) is just a ten minute walk away. I could recommend this place more for any couple looking to escape for a couple of nights of pure tranquility

Romantic haven in rural Devon

5 adults, 1 baby and 1 Labrador stayed in Tikes Cottage (Tillys and Drakes) for 5 nights. Both cottages were extremely well equipped and clean.

The Tikes setup between the two cottages for a larger family was brilliant, there was a common hallway between the two cottages allowing free flow of undisturbed movement between the two, whilst maintaining a degree of separation. The hallway only services Tillys and Drakes. 

The free roaming ducks, alpacas, ginea pigs and chickens gave the farm a sense of life. We purchased fresh eggs when they were available.

Marie, was present throughout our stay, and was easily contactable by phone (text or call), any message was returned in a swift fashion and nothing was two much too much too ask.

Sauna and swimming pool was perfect, with 40minutes notice the sauna was turned on and heated up. The Swimming pool was both clean, warm and a respectable size. A nice environment to relax after a busy day. Each cottage has a 2 hour slot, which appears to be a hangover from the pandemic.

Play Room was full of toys and games (much more than the website images show) for a variety of ages, a lovely touch to keep the little one entertained.

We didn't use the games room, but from a peak it was well equipped. Outdoor jungle gyms x 2 were onside for use, along with a football goal.

The dog, well he loved roaming in the secure paddock and whilst the sheep weren't onside there was plenty of fields to play in along with a flowing stream at the bottom of the alpaca field where he dipped his toes.

Quaint and peaceful location in comfortable accomodation

We had a really lovely stay in the Merino Hut. Enjoyed the company of alpacas, guinea pigs, cat, chickens... Shame the sheep weren't here when we visited! The hut was super clean and cosy, and we really enjoyed the hot tub!

We really enjoyed our mini-break in Orchard Cottage.

The cottage was well-apointed with comfortable and functional furniture and high spec appliances (which aren't straightforward so please ask for help).

Having an on-site pool for the kids is wonderful.  We had a little walk to see he ducks, etc.,  and this would be even nicer in better weather. The upside down arrangment of the house didn't work for us as the teens wanted to stay up late and with the bedrooms downstairs this resulted in a lot of noise. The doors also have very traditional latches. These are absolutely in keeping with the style of the cottage but with teens wanting their privacy the constant clacking around of the hinges drove me crazy. They're very very noisy. 

I think this cottage would be more suited to a group of adults or a family with smaller children where the doors wouldn't be opening and closing all the time. The deck and hot tub were great but I am sure are even better in the nicer months. In summary this was a really lovely cottage and would be excellent for letting kids play in the enclosed garden. 

Generally clean overall but lamps in bedroom were caked in dust and there was an oddly placed cupboard in the wet room.

Unfortunately our holiday at South Coombe Farm – Saffi’s cottage did not start well. 2 days prior to our holiday the owner’s called us to cancel our holiday due to personal reasons. 
We did come to an agreement with the owners & they agreed we could stay in Staffi’s. 
This situation put us on edge from the outset. We was unsure what to expect upon arrival. We travelled from Kent & as we were unsure if we was going to be allowed to stay at South Coombe we left at 4am giving us enough time to travel back to Kent if we needed to. We arrived & the owner confirmed we could stay. 
The surrounding area is great, very nice for walks & relaxing, you will need to travel as the location is at least 20 miles from anywhere apart from the local Village Witheridge. 
South Coombe Farm. As a whole the farm is great, good play areas & a few animals for the kids to interact with. 
Swimming Pool. Allocated times for the swimming pool is great, only your family is allowed in at your times so very private. The pool generally is in good condition but unfortunately not as clean as it could be. The pool side areas where not cleaned in the week we stayed. 
Staffi’s Cottage. The cottage was not up to standard. It was not cleaned as to the standard we expected nor as described given the pandemic. The TV remote & microwave did not work properly. Animal hair still on the floors, human hair in the shower & bedrooms & there was dog mess in the garden. We did bring some of these matters to the owner’s attention, hair & microwave & TV & they did remove the hair in the shower but did not fix the TV or microwave. We didn’t mention the dog mess or hair in the bedroom we cleaned it ourselves as we felt awkward about the owners personal situation. Other guests mentioned in the guest book they were give Croissants & pastries each day but we did not experience this. We found the garden was not as private as we would have wanted, there were 2 gates in our garden that allowed guests & walkers access. We had a private hot tub in our garden that was fully functional but not clean, the owner stated it was emptied refilled for each guest, I am afraid this was not the case, we also came back one day to find the cover had been removed, we was concerned the tub was used by other guests. 
Hosts. We were made aware the owners had some personal issues. Unfortunately this did affect our stay, it is not fair for us to go in to detail but there was no hospitality. 
Overall Staffi’s Cottage at South Coombe Farm has potential, other guests said they had a great time. It is such a shame but we can only conclude the owners had definitely taken their eye off the ball for the week we stayed. The owners have advised us they have now have a manager running the business so hopefully you won’t experience what we did.
