Currently staying here till Monday . Location is good. We have stayed in many lodges but this does need some TLC. Living area needs some care and attention its dark and not lit well at all. Lights on the stairs dont work. Taps drip in kitchen sink constantly. Door to decking is stiff and needs a hard push to open it. It appears very unloved. Hot tub canopy is cheap and nasty and by other reviews it has been there quite some time. Hot tub position right near main entrance so not that private.  Bathrooms were best thing in lodge by far. The big upstairs room has balcony but has fake grass on it is dirty and needs replacing. The furniture looks a mish mash and cheap.
Beds !!!! As all other reviews bad. 
Compared to other places we have stsyed paying much the same this is disappointing wouldnt book again. Also didnt know about security deposit of £150 never paid this anywhere else.
Cant comment on staff or pub as it didnt look open.


Shabby and not worth the money

We booked the Chestnut Cabin through Hoeseasons.

Upon arrival, it was easy to locate & the cabin had its own parking spot directly outside. 

First impressions of the cabin were very good. It was clean & neatly presented. Kitchen seemed fairly new & modern. All cooking utensils, glasses, plates ect… provided were all clean & appeared new. 

Bedroom was cosy & bed was comfy, en-suite was practical & clean. 

Hot tub was fantastic! 

Outside/garden area was a little odd though. Beyond the patio was a bit of nothing? Seemed a bit of waste & could have been an extension to the patio? I can see why it was left though due to the rather large tree’s & roots?

Chestnut Cabin.

My partner, pet dog and I had a wonderful stay in Redbrick Woodland Lodges - Cedar. The lodge was very clean and spacious. The bed was super comfy. The lodge is located towards the back of the grounds, making it very quiet and private. The Park Manager was very helpful and responsive to any questions we had. 

The hot tub was great, and much needed after long days of hiking through the Peak District. The only downside was the tub had way too many chemicals in, making it very very foamy! 

The lodge had almost everything needed for our stay, including a big smart Tv and decent wifi. Our only comment would be to add a bread knife and some baking trays. 

We ordered a Chinese takeaway from China Moon. The food was great and had quick delivery despite it being Saturday night - we ordered way too much as always! 

We hired the telescope for star gazing which was a good extra. There was a little light pollution from the external lights, so it would be good if there was an option to switch these off, or a dedicated star gazing area on site.

Overall had a wonderful stay and will hopefully be back in the future - maybe to stay in The Barn as it looked amazing!

Wonderful weekend stay!

Just got back from a mon-fri break and stayed in the ‘Pine Cottage’ 
Absolutely great,immaculate and very clean!
We took our little dog with us and he had lots of space around to explore it’s great for pets and we had a good size front lawn for him to run!
Lots of lovely walks around the area to explore!
We cooked every night and kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need,we also had a bbq the one night on the patio as we fell very lucky with the weather!

Recommend staying here,very lovely people on site aswell and happy to help.

Great Stay!

Had a fantastic stay in the Sherwood lodge. It was spacious and clean for a family of 6. The bathrooms are lovely and kitchen well equipped and had everything we needed. 
Only critism would be a path connected to the woods for walking to both sides on the site would be good.
We saw deer on 2 occasions in the local
fields.

Excellent family weekend

Just come to end of 4 night stay in redbrick wooland lodges,set in a very quiet and peaceful place.the lodge itself was very nice and clean.had everything you need, from cooker, microwave, dishwasher to tv and free wi-fi. On arrival the staff was very helpful and friendly, and told us how to use hot tub Which ours had to operation of automatic gates at entrance.
Loads of walks, nearby for walking our dog, to good dog friendly pubs a short drive away. Will definitely be back again.
Other people comments complain about problem with beds, but our bed was great, looked like a new mattress to me, had a great night sleep.🛌

Relaxing break

What a stunning lodge this was and loads of room, great kitchen and heated flooring brilliant,  but the beds really needs updating I contacted hoseasons before we even stayed there about the bad reports on the bed and they said they contacted the property and had been updated well that was a lie we all ended up with bad backs at the end of the weekend they were sunken and if u rolled into the middle you felt like it was going to collapse, apart from that and the on site restaurant and pub not being open it was fine I think there needs to be a path way to walk around there wasn’t much of a forest to walk.

Beautiful lodges horrendous beds 

I stayed with my family for a weekend in November. 

I would not recommend the Sherwood Lodge to anyone in its current state.  This would be a wonderful lodge if the management were prepared to address the issues I flagged to them in my email - rather than sending me what can only be described as a rude and dismissive reply. 

Firstly as a positive note - I will say that the site is very nice and quiet and so would be very relaxing. 

The beds are absolutely awful and desperately need replacing.  Not one of the family slept well in any room.  You can feel every single spring.  Management say that the beds are in good condition.  They are not.  You'd be more comfortable on the sofa. 

The lodge was dirty on arrival.  There was a plaster stuck to the wall which is absolutely disgusting.  Everywhere was dusty.  The wooden bowl in the kitchen still had a crisp in it from the family who stayed before us.  The sofa had bits of popcorn on it (we didn't have any popcorn!).  The shower head needed a good clean as did the extractor fan.  The windows and tiled walls in the bathroom were covered in hand prints. 

In the kitchen, please be aware that the hot tap is so hot I accidentally scalded my hand - if you have children please be aware of this as there is no warning sign up on the wall.  The knives were all rather blunt, with one of them actually having the tip missing(!?). 

The hot tub lights did not work at any stage during our stay.  

The towels provided are tiny so if you want to cover up take your own. 

I have raised all of this with the management and have only received rude emails which obviously contradict what I am saying.  I can assure anyone that this is an honest review.  None of this is made up.  There are much nicer and much more pleasant lodges out there!

Sherwood Lodge - Beds need replacing - management rude

Me and my 5 friends of 36 years spent 3 nights at this delightful lodge and weren't disappointed as we had a fab time .The lodge is tastefully done with loads of space and a fantastic hot tub which we used loads.  We had a problem with our heating but Connor the matenience man guy managed to sort it for us and all done with a smile . Although there was lots of kitchen utensils provided there were a few essentials missing like a good pair of kitchen scissors and the fridge could do with being bigger as with food and drink between 6 of us it wouldn't all fit in so less freezer more fridge would be perfect . I would definitely recommend this lodge and I think we would more than likely revisit .

Oakridge Lodge was fabulous 

We stayed here for two nights fri-sun as we was attending a local festival. We had a 3 year old and requested a family room. We was told only the second floor was available, the hotel didn’t seem busy so this was hard to understand but not the end of the world, lots of practice on climbing stairs for the little one! 

Beds weren’t the best, bearable for two nights. We were also told only a twin room with fold out bed for our daughter was available, again when arriving and seeing how quiet it was, didn’t really understand this but we left it last minute to book so didn’t bother to question it. 

•lovely complimentary coffee and even a little juice left for our daughter when we arrived 

•Decor was ok, could do with modernising. Towels lovely and soft but very small. 

•breakfast included was a selection of cereals, toast and a hot breakfast menu - we went for full English, it was ok - pretty standard, nothing amazing (breakfast was set out each morning with our room number which was lovely and the service was very quick the ladies serving can’t do enough for you) 

•bar reasonably priced and staff friendly enough! Very quiet - not much of an atmosphere but we didn't mind 

•staff really pleasant helpful and welcoming 

Over all our stay was ok, not the best but not the worst, you pay for what you get! It was absolutely fine for a base while we attended our all day two day festival. Wouldn’t of liked it as a weekend get away. Although staff are very welcoming I wouldn’t recommend it for families with children - at times we found we had to try to keep our daughter quiet as it was so quiet each day/night. If you are adults looking to lay your head somewhere then I would recommend.
