So disappointed. I was expecting much much more based on the reviews online. Everything about it was average . Will not stay again as not value for money. It was fairly clean, however the room was fairly noisy due to it being in the road. Disappointed

Disappointed

We paid £116 per night with no breakfast for a deluxe room. Shower drain was blocked with hair and sand, sink plug broken, bathroom door did not close, windows did not close properly and were dirty and the quilt had brown marks all over it? There was no water in the room as advertised and when these issues were mentioned we were told to write a list and hand it to them when checking out. The bar and restaurant were closed throughout and we certainly expected a little more for the money. On the plus side, the location is good and close to everything you’ll need but if driving then parking is a lottery. 

Finally, we got the impression that if we’d asked to move rooms and given the deliberate oversight on basic cleanliness, we would have been moved to something similar so didn’t see the point. 

Not as expected

This hotel has both good points and bad points.  I'll start with the good ones...

The staff member we dealt with almost exclusively, called Justine, was absolutely charming, and made a real effort to welcome us.  She was also really helpful with advice about local restaurants and so on.  She is a real asset!

The room was beautifully decorated, with a lovely sea view, a comfortable bed, nice sheets, lots of big towels, good quality bath products, and  well-stocked with facilities, like hair-dryer, iron, and safe.

The tent in the garden, where we had our drinks on our first evening, was lovely, and would actually make a really nice venue, for something like a small, family party, or some such thing.  The basement bar itself, is also quite pleasant.

However, a big issue for us was that we only discovered on arrival, that breakfast was not included in the price.  We're absolutely sure that it was mentioned in the website that we booked through, and we would never have booked the hotel, if it didn't include breakfast, as that's one of the main things that we enjoy about going away.  The website of the hotel apparently doesn't say breakfast is included, but we didn't actually look at that.  Also, the word "restaurant" appears both outside and inside the hotel.  This meant that we ended up spending something in the region of £50 more than the cost of the room, having to eat elsewhere, which we haven't budgeted for.  I had actually spoken to a man the day before we arrived, because we were having trouble booking a restaurant for friends on the Monday night, and wondered if the hotel had a dining room.  He mentioned they didn't serve dinner, but did not take that opportunity to tell us that they didn't serve breakfast.  Whilst we understood the reasons explained to us, why they no longer serve breakfast, it would have been really helpful to know in advance.  They certainly need to sort out the information on booking company websites. 

The bathroom initially looked spotlessly clean, but we had trouble with the sink, which drained really slowly, so we ended up actually having to just take out the whole plug mechanism; and when I had my shower on the first morning, the shower didn't drain at all, so I ended up pulling out the plug mechanism in the shower as well, and unfortunately, I found it absolutely clogged up with long, black hair, which was absolutely gross.   

Overall, I would say that if breakfast isn't important toyou, then this is probably a decent place to stay, but we would certainly not go back there ourselves. 

A Total Mixed Bag

Very expensive and not worth it. Its a guest house at best. Silver painted furniture and expensive wallpaper does not make it a boutique hotel. No breakfast is an absolute disgrace for the price. Rip off look elsewhere you'll only be disappointed 


Rip off don't bother

Wonderful location on sea front at the highest end of the harbour - also perfect for exploring Cliftonville and Northtown Rd - a quaint, cosy and clean hotel with pretty rooms. The staff - Justine and Michaela - couldn't do enough to help us. Really friendly, gave us local tips and helped us get ready for Pride after we'd checked out by letting us use the Bar toilets! Helped us with our bags and taxis - really kind, fun and helpful. A great place with lots of heart.

The lady was very nice , but the man/boy was a total let down, what a horrible person, I think he needs ro understand how the British treat their customers so so rude and no understanding, didn't listen to anything

We stayed on Valentines day. Its a homely, very welcoming hotel. Nice interior. Excellent sea view room. Very friendly helpful staff. Chris cooked us the most amazing breakfast, so chatty & friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Situation of the hotel was very good, walk into the old town & along the promenade. Bonus was that we had 2 lovely sunny days. Will definitely be returning.

Margate stay at Victoria Hotel.

Had an absolutely wonderful overnight stay here on a very last minute booking.
Made to feel very welcome by all the staff. I stayed in a wonderful room with sea views.
After a meal out I returned to the hotel and enjoyed a couple of drinks in the downstairs bar. Again made to feel very welcome by the staff and locals.
Looking forward to my next visit

Lovely hotel. Room very comfortable with a great view. Friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. Bar is also good with reasonable prices. Will visit again. Within easy reach of shops, bars and restaurants.

A weekend in Margate

To whome it may concern,
Dear sir/ madam,

Having been back in Amsterdam a couple of days, and having had time to reflect on our stay with you. 
We would like to thank you and concratulate you on the fantastic service you offerd us for the 5 nights that we were with you.
Special mention to Chris and Penny who were both briljant! They were both so friendly and hospitable during our whole stay. Always bright and smiling, tru hospitality mentality ( verry lacking in this day and age) 
It was our 1st visit to your hotel, but it certanly wont be the last.
We will be back next year sometime.
