I see Trip Advisor lists the White Swan’s property amenities as having free breakfast but when my husband and I got there, we were told there was NO KITCHEN, so NO BREAKFAST! We weren’t told that on booking. Had to go down the road to the Advocate Arms Hotel for all our meals, which were all lovely, and we’d have definitely stayed at the Advocate had it not already been fully booked for the date we wanted.

On arrival, we were told there would be a singer in the lounge that night and we might hear music in our room – that was an understatement, the music was so loud, it sounded like the singer was in our room with us! I had asked when the music would be finishing and was told @ 11pm but it went on way after that and seemed to get louder towards the end.

This inn should not be taking in paying guests for accommodation, it really looks like it’s on its last legs, the rooms are very small with nowhere to put anything (we couldn’t get anything out of our suitcases) and if the owners want to stage live music, they cannot expect to have guests trying in vain to sleep upstairs.

The room was very basic could do with a deeper clean couldnt walk bare foot on floor as could feel muck in carpet bathrooms are nice lovely modern shower we were suppose to have breakfast but not provided also not informed before our visit only stayed 1 night instead of 2 as the saturday evening you had to drink from plastic glasses not good 

Racing visit 

We went to the White Swan as on their web site it states food served Tuesday to Saturday 5-9 pm. When I asked today, Tuesday 23 May, at the bar I was told very abuptly WE DONT DO FOOD ON MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS. I said that we were there because on their website is says that food would be served on Tuesdays. Again we were told in a louder voice with an unpleasent tone I'VE TOLD YOU WE DONT DO FOOD AND IT IS NOT ON THE WEBSITE. At this point I got my phone out to show her that it clearly states food served from Tuesdays. It was then she became agressive and said DO'NT CARE WHAT IS SAYS WE HAVEN'T DONE FOOD ON TUESDAYS FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS, YOU MUST BE WRONG. I tried to show her the web page of the white swan but she turned her back and walked away from us. We were gobsmacked at her rudeness and agressive manner. we have never seen such rudeness!

Rude and agressive staff, stay away

The room itself was clean but tatty - the en-suite had a rusty heated towel rail mould on the ceiling and a round toilet seat on a square toilet 
There was black mould on the bedroom wall beside the window 
There was no information about housekeeping or phone numbers for emergencies 
We discovered that there is NO BREAKFAST although it clearly states that on their website 
There was nobody there the next morning when we checked out and we had no idea what we were to do with our door key 
Avoid this place 

Disappointed is an understatement 

please look on booking .com for full review, i wrote too much to repeat on here. i only wish i had photos to back up what i said.  avoid at all costs. it is not a b and b.. rooms are not tired they are retired. they are using photos from years ago to advertise. the place is run down. my partner does not drive so when we got there after a 5 hour no stop trip all i wanted to do was eat and sleep. it was not nice but after all that driving without food anything was welcome but never ever again will i  or my wife set foot in this establishment again

This pub used to be my local for years 
I have watched owners come and go I can’t see this lot lasting 
I want be visiting again but like I said can’t see them lasting long so hopefully not be long before we back

Knowing wot side your bread is butted on

Me and my partner went there as a weekend get away from big cities for our anniversary. The White Swan and it’s staff were very accommodating and welcoming. I informed them of the reason for our stay and upon entry to the room we were greeted with a lovely card, box of chocolates and a full sized bottle of Pinot blush. The food was lovely and everything was a good price. We had a great time staying, eating and drinking here!

Anniversary Weekend Getaway

Chose this place for location and I have to say was very impressed by the standard of 
service and quality of the food for a town center hotel/pub. although the menu is not extensive still enough to choose from and all at a great price. The food we chose was cooked perfectly and very good portion size. Wound definitely recommend this if your in the area and looking for something to eat. WELL DONE AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Lunch with friends

6.30am woken up by banging on our first floor window. Quite alarming but turned out to be window cleaner using brush on a long pole. Why on earth the management allow this to happen so early in the morning is anyones guess. No one except cleaner around in the morning to complain to, sent email with no reply.

We stayed here for a night while visiting family in Rasen. Found the room warm and cosy, nice to see decent pillows instead of flat ones! Good shower and comfy bed. Couple of things  could do with attention.. radiator is rusty and crack in the sink but wouldn't stop me from booking again.
