Took my 11 yr old grandson and met some amazing owls. After seeing a large variety of beautiful birds we went into the barn (good weather cover) where four difference species flew between us to we could get a really good look as they perched on our arms.  Lovely knowledgeable people   - well worth the money

Great afternoon

Very disappointed. I know the weather was poor. I felt the site needed a major reinvestment. The cages were small and shabby. The area was overgrown. The site has seen better days. Toilet facilities are poor. Outside toilet. We had to have our tour inside due to the weather. We only saw 3 owls. We thought we could see hawks. It was lovely to see the owls close up. We saw exmoor ponies and other ponies and horses.

Disappointed

I last rode here in 2019 and it was fabulous so was hoping for a similar experience. I must say they didn't disappoint. I had the most fabulous few hours riding Tom. I was very lucky to be the only rider out today so could just relax and go at a pace I was comfortable with. We had some wonderful canters along the way and Tom was the perfect gentleman, never being silly or trying to race with the lead horse.
The staff are all so wonderful and caring, they made me feel so welcome and relaxed.
I really do love riding here, it's just a shame I live 5hrs away!
I hope to return and go on another wonder adventure on one of the many beautiful horses they have here.

Visit on Sunday 5th June for an hours Owl flying and talk, it was truly brilliant! My 6 Yr old soon loves owls and Rod was so friendly, engaging and knowledgeable that we hadn’t even finished before my son was asking when can we come back.

A lovely collection of owls, 3 of which we had the pleasure of meeting and flying in the barn; Pip, Tyto and Shadow were amazing to be around and Rods commentary and knowledge really opened our eyes to the magnificent birds.

Thank you again and we will be visiting again.

Truly Brilliant!

We visited during October half term for the Extravaganza experience as our family of three. This is a private session (I believe up to four people but larger bookings also possible) and needs to be booked in advance. I’d thoroughly recommend.

The location is in beautiful surroundings of green space, with plenty of duvks and horses to see as well.

On arrival, we had opportunity to visit the wildlife garden and sanctuary area, where information on each owl is displayed. Very informative and lots of different owls to see!

We then spent time flying seven different birds (in the barn and outside), and we learnt more about each. We were given gloves to use and food. We flew:
Tinker the Tawny Owl
Shadow the Black Barn Owl
Blade the Harris Hawk
Artemis the Buzzard
Athena the Little Owl (teeny as the name suggests)
Thistle the Barn Owl
Nadi the Bengal Eagle Owl.

It was fascinating to see their individual personalities. 

In the barn, there is information about Cathy’s life and founding of the sanctuary.

At the end of our session, we enjoyed a cream tea (lovely warm scones) in the garden.

Subsequently, we received a personalised video of our experience which is brilliant - thanks, Rod!

This was a lovely experience which I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Thank you.

Owl & Hawk Extravaganza - Half Day Experience

We booked with 2 friends for the Owl and Hawk Exravaganza and were very impressed. The location is beautiful and having been welcomed by Rod, were able to spend time viwing the birds before flying some of them. we all found the morning great fun and educational too. One of us was frightened of birds. We had not realised this when we had booked. Rod put her at ease and by the end of the session, she was happliy flying the birds including some of the larger owls and a hawk. After the experience we were able to relax in the lovelly garden with a cream tea included in the price. We were sent a video of our day too, which is a nice touch. Highly recommended. This is not a large attraction and  the Owl and Hawk Exravaganza does require booking in advance

Owl and Hawk Extravaganza

What a wonderful weekend we have just had! Cathy made us feel so welcome and relaxed and our labrador Freddie too. This isn't a posh fancy place, but if it was you wouldn't relax so much.
The house is very old and so full of character. It wraps itself around you so you feel at peace and safe. The bedroom was very spacious and comfy.
The breakfast was amazing and really set us up for the day. 
Went walking in Horner Woods which are so magical and peaceful.
Will definately be back and maybe next time will try their horses or a flying bird experience.

FAB-U-LOUS!

I recently spent two nights here & enjoyed a full day of ridings split over two hacks. On arrival was welcomed by Cathy & offered a cup of tea - no better welcome in my book! My room was extremely comfortable & so snug & I shared a bathroom with a friend. The shower was fantastic too.
Got to ride two very different mounts: Archie a 17.1 Irish sports horse & Igor a 16.2 bit less Lusitano. We got to experience different areas of the Exmoor National Park & were lucky that the sun shone too.
Breakfast was hearty & cooked to order & we also enjoyed lunch between rides.
Only regret is that we never got to see the owl show but this is reason to return next year for sure!
Thanks to Cathy, Rod, Jess & Claire - we enjoyed every minute with you.

Fabulous homely retreat with amazing countryside to ride through

Went to this centre for a two and a half hour owl and hawk flying experience. 
Location is at an amazing old farmhouse with pretty land all around, ducks, chickens and horses in stables. 
On arrival my husband and I looked around the bird pens at the many owls and bird of prey. We were then met by Rod who explained how the morning was going to play out. 
My husband and I both flew 9 birds. Rod was very knowledgeable and explained all about them and their behaviour. We flew some outside and some inside as he was training the young ones. 
An absolutely amazing one to one experience, the time literally ‘flew’ by!! 
Tea and cake in the garden to finish!

A bird experience that lived up to my expectations! 

7 of us (ages form 4 to 60+) went to see the birds.  After looking at a fascinating collection of owls in their enclosures, we watched the display of them flying.   This was done in a fascinating way and all of us learnt a lot about the birds and their behaviour.  I thoroughly recommend it for an afternoon out.
