We've just had another great week here, must be 11 yrs we've been coming, always the same friendly reception from Jim and Julie and the rest of the family and staff, shame the owner of the pub decided to close over the holiday season but it didn't stop us enjoying our break, as always we would recommend the site , it's in a great situation for touring the west coast, and it was good to meet wee Freddie,

Back again to one of our fav places

We unfortunately had a very disappointing experience at Appin holiday homes. The coin operated washing machine did nothing but get our clothes wet, leaving them just as dirty as before. The drier would not even start after 2 failed attempts (and 4 pounds) to get it going. We tried calling the reception a few times but couldn't get a hold of anyone. 

We had to cancel our plans for the afternoon and spent it hanging the still dirty but wet clothes around the lodge, cranking up the heaters trying to get them dry. This was particularly disappointing since we booked this accommodation precisely because of the advertised laundry facilities, as we were on a 2 week trip through Scotland. 

Otherwise, the lodge has lovely views and the kitchen is stocked reasonably well. The floor in the kitchen is a bit sinky at places but nothing major. Do use the non slip mat in the shower, as the bath is really slippery (i learned the hard way having landed on my butt). 

Unfortunately, the laundry issue really ruined our experience and had a detrimental impact on our holiday. 

I hope this will be taken as a constructive criticism to improve the facilities, rather than elicit a defensive response, as seems to have happened with some other negative reviews below.

Disappointing 

What a disappointment squirrel drey cabin was it is in need of a lot of TLC, the best bit was the shower room and that’s where it ends. 
The whole place needs a proper clean, I had to wash pots, plates and kitchen utensils before we could use them and the oven needs to be cleaned. 
There is a distinct lack of power points and I couldn’t find any in the second bedroom which also had no bedside lamps/lights, there were more issues I could list simply because corners seemed to be cut everywhere. 
This place is in a great spot and the views are to die for but the accommodation definitely fell short and does not live up to the online description, so much so that we cut short our holiday and left halfway through our week.

Disappointed

This is a family run business, Jim is incredibly knowledgeable about the area.
The lodges are clean and very comfortable, so sit on the veranda and enjoy the outstanding view.
Not far from Glencoe, Oban is a great town to visit, you can get a boat trip and see Dolphins, Seals and amazingly a White Tailed Eagle

What a view!

We stayed at Fox den lodge this September. It was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and the views were out of this world. We met Jim the owner who couldn’t have been nicer. 
The grounds are immaculate, there’s a well stocked games room with a snooker table, DVDs and books to borrow. We’ll be back.

A lovely lodge

We had booked an accommodation for 3 nights. When we arrived at the place at the scheduled time, reception was open but no one was there. A few houses in the works, doors are open, tools left in place. Unfortunately our bad impression is confirmed. When we call the number indicated, we get back after several calls... I explain that I am there to get the keys, no effort to give me more explanations. I don't speak very well English but this is the first time in Scotland where I am with a situation that doesn't try to help me... I hang up to call Booking for more information. The booking is in the aftermath!

Cancellation of housing on site is shameful and dishonest!

Visit this sight regularly owners and staff are so friendly and helpful views are amazing. We stay on the tourer sight ,space between Van's is excellent whether on top sight or bottom always great views love this place so much highly recommended 

Great caravan park

We booked for 5 nights - stayed less than an hour. This place is advertised as ‘dog friendly’ but I’m not sure it might be regarded as human friendly. It’s damp, dingey, dilapidated, dates and in some places dangerous. Entrance steps were broken and parts of decking were a trip hazard. Rubbish from previous guests was still in the bins. Inside, it only got worse, broken handle on microwave; sticky uneven floors; filthy basin; missing lightbulbs; mismatched bedding; stains on mattress protectors; burst wall-boarding; filthy extractor fan in kitchen and VERY rusty taps in bathroom. I requested a refund, which to be fair, was granted. I offered to show the owner the problems I had encountered, but she chose not to inspect them! I was told the lodge was ‘tidy’- it was, but tidiness does not equate to cleanliness. Avoid this place at all costs. It wasn’t cheap. You could find much better elsewhere for less money.

Fox Den Lodge - beware!

We stayed for a week in the budget caravan. As it is advertised as being tired we had our expectations set. Its really good that the owners are offering a cheaper option especially with costs rising it will allow people to afford to stay in a location they might otherwise be unable to. The caravan is old and has suffered damage over its years of use. There are fraying edges and some damage to the table and window frames. However it is clean and functional and suited us fine. We spend our days out and about. If you want to spend a lot of time in the van or have high standards you might prefer one of the other caravans. It is not advertised as loch view but you can see glimpses of the loch from the caravan and its a very short stroll to the shore. The location of this site is excellent, there is so much to see and explore in the local area boat trips from Port Appin or Oban, lots of walks and sights and plenty of places to ride bikes. There's a fish and chip van onsite Friday and Saturday evenings and the Creagan Inn is in easy walking distance too.

Great spot

We recently stayed for a fortnight in caravan L at Appin.  The location of the caravans is right on Loch Crearan's edge and have stunning views.  Caravan L was well equipped although a vacuum cleaner would have been nice as a brush is a bit too much hard work on carpets! It had an ensuite toilet as well as the main bathroom which was great.
  We saw some seals and there was a rather friendly buzzard who came very close to the caravan and was very entertaining.  There are so many great walks and the scenery is remarkable.  Glen Coe is truly stunning.
 We ate out a couple of times in the evenings. The Pierhouse in Port Appin does tasty seafood and has a lovely atmosphere.  We also walked down to the Creagan Inn and enjoyed oysters and scallops. 
Everywhere we went we were greeted by lovely hospitable people who really helped male this one of our top holidays ever. 
The grounds of Appin holiday homes are beautifully kept. Thank you for a super holiday.
