we just returned from the porthcawl hotel the bar, staff ,food and drinks were great but the hotel was dire,if it had been for more than 1 night we would not have stayed there,very disappointing stains on bedroom carpet were dreadful

This so called hotel is in desperate need of a full refurb, carpets are filthy, rooms are very poor, very loud music into the early hours from the bar downstairs! Bed was lump, pillows had no filling, toilet cracked, toilet seat very loose! Blinds on windows wrong size, couldn’t be opened or closed, no curtain to block out light!! Lots of noise coming from other rooms during the night! One good thing was the food I can honestly say out of our party of 3 couples all our lunch time meals where great, if I was to return to The Porthcawl Hotel it would only be for lunch! Very disappointing weekend away with friends, we never slept a wink!! 😡

Worse night stay ever

To be fair we didn’t spend much time in the hotel as we were out exploring Porthcawl but here’s my thoughts the music from the gym is too loud and on too late when you have a Child with you as it’s hard to get them to sleep, but that aside we didn’t have a bad nights sleep.  Bar area is lovely and all staff are very friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is the breakfast it is the worse breakfast I’ve had in a hotel, I asked for bacon, sausage and egg well done the only thing that came out as requested was the egg, the bacon looked liked it had only seen the pan for one second, hence I left it and didn’t even bother with the breakfast the next morning!!! That’s says it all for me as I love my breakfast!!!!

Short Break

Afternoon visit. Cheap and cheerful meal of a reasonable priced menu. The staff were friendly enough. Just off the seafront There's a large carpark behind.
There is also an hotel at the same location.

Lunch

Just got back from a stay here, it’s The friendliest place I’ve ever stayed, Clive and Dell are great hosts. Fantastic breakfast, be back for sure. The rooms are very nice clean and comfortable. These people can’t do enough for you, I highly recommend staying here anytime you’re in the area. Porthcawl is a lovely place to see, nice people pubs and rests to.

Great place to stay

The room was on the top floor above the gym, and it was dancing all over the wooden floor, and the walls were vibrating when they were jumping on the balcony and exercising and the music was blowing back. At 6:30 in the morning they were already starting some exercises.

Noise

We stayed three nights. We knew the hotel was old. But there was no hot water (1 day) and no water at all (1 other day), it's a surprise. And what about the smell in the room... We left the window open all day but the smell of mold was embedded in the dirty carpet and the old sheets. Bathroom with carpet on the floor (whose original color is impossible to guess), net of water in the shower because there is no pressure, etc... Good point for service and the bar-restaurant room is rather friendly.
