Charming old pub in the English countryside.  We booked the Cozy room.  It had everything we needed (except a closet) and was very comfortable.  The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and well serviced.  The included breakfast was excellent, in selection, quality and preparation.  This is a great pub to sit outside for a drink and a chat in quaint country surroundings.  We ate dinner there 3 times and it was always great.  I think we tried most dishes on the menu.  Parking was a pain due to the tiny lot, they said more free parking was available in the village, but that was equally hard to find and involved a walk (sometimes in the frequent English rain).  We will nevertheless definitely visit again and put up with the parking.

Gorgeous pub in a quaint English village.  Outstanding accommodation, food and beer.

Visiting my parents from the USA who live in Sonning and after three weeks realized that while I have been paying for drinks and food over the past three weeks, I was not presented receipts and they had been adding a 12.5 service charge. I only realized after I did ask for a receipt  on the last day of my visit. Very cheeky especially as I have been adding a tip when I paid with my card; Aka I have been tipping on top of a service charge. Quite rude and let alone doing that to one of your locals.

This is a beautiful old pub with very well decorated and thought out rooms. The special touches can be seen everywhere. The 'dogs corner' is an example of going that little bit further and would satisfy any dog who accompanied their owner to the pub. The room was extremely comfortable, had a lovely drink selection, low lights in the bathroom for a midnight loo visit, and the breakfast was completely delicious.

Wow, what a glorious place to find

Charming pub, excellent staff.  Good food except for fish pie which had virtually no fish in it.  Excellent terrine starter and hispi cabbage main course also very good.   Beautiful building and charming service.  Just a pity about the fish pie!

Love this pub, so happy and lucky to have such a lovely pub close to where we live 
We come here regularly on a Sunday for the roast live the food and ambience
There is a lovely walk down through the church leading onto the Thames path which we try and walk every visit it helps walk off the very generous  Sunday roast 
Bit wet and very muddy yesterday (to be expected) but nonetheless we did our walk by the lock

Super Sunday

Eaten here before and it was nice however, booked a table for 2 on a Saturday night and our experience was very different. The waitress was friendly but the food and service were not up to scratch. I ordered the cheese fritters which were over cooked in old oil and tasted of deep fried greasy, left to long in the fryer! My husbands Pork belly was not that hot and dried out. The sweet potato fries were over cooked same as the fritters in the same old oil, along with the onion rings we ordered. The smell of the food actually made me feel nauseous. They took along time to clear the plates so we had to sit there with the smell of grease which was not pleasant. And to top it all, the waitress forgot the wine list we had asked for so we didn’t get that until the main course!  All in all not a great experience which is a shame but has put me off going back. I am down £100 and still feeling nauseous this morning 😏 

Very Disappointing 

Idyllic evening spent at The Bull in Sonning. A really beautiful pub. Weather perfect so we sat outside. Our waiter, a University student, was excellent and very personable. The tomahawk steak was first class - good wine and good company ensured a wonderful evening, in a gorgeous location. Thank you to all at The Bull.

Nice pub with good beer in very pleasant surroundings. Only used the bar, but other facilities looked a good standard. In the centre of town but do not let the address "High Street2 confuse you. It is just a tiny lane with no through traffic. Very quiet.

Nice up-river pub

Called in for a drink and lunch after a walk along the River. My Daughter and I had the smoked salmon & creme fraiche bagel with skin on fries and my Granddaughter had the pulled beef toasted sandwich with fries. All our meals were delicious as were the drinks (I had a very nice Cider) We sat outside as it was a very sunny day and there was a large seating area with cover. Service was good and we didn't have to wait long for our order, despite being busy. Very pretty pub in a lovely village. Looked to have a very interesting main menu too - would love to visit again sometime.

Another lovely stay at this beautiful old pub in Sonning (our 3rd visit). Once again we had room 7 which is beautifully decorated with a very good bathroom.

The staff are really friendly and efficient, we would particularly like to thank Izzy and Mark for looking after us so well. 

The food is delicious and the English pea ravioli was amazing.Compliments to all in the kitchen. 

The pub is well located to walk along the Thames Path. St Andrew's Church is beautiful and it was wonderful to hear the bells pealing.
