Saltburn-by-the-Sea

Just returned from a 2 day break with 12 golfers. Absolute perfect service from start to finish. Accommodation was great, really comfy beds and good shower. Food choice was good and quality excellent. Golf course was in really great condition for the time of year. Very testing course which is undergoing improvements- should be even better once completed. I must single out the service from the lady who was behind the bar for the whole time we were there. An absolute credit to the establishment. Nothing was too much trouble and she was always there to help and make sure we had everything we needed. Hopefully we will be back soon.

October golfing weekend.

We stayed at Hunley hall GC on a £149 weekend rate for two rounds, dinner, bed and breakfast. It is great value. Right from the beginning, the organisation of our golf trip was first class. Stacey was great at organising the rooms and being able to pay separately was a god send to the organiser, alongside being to book some single rooms for some of the guys was also useful. The rooms were well appointed and all had great showers, and sea views. The lodge at the back of the hotel was very well furnished with loads of space, and it was a good base for the group to meet up and enjoy time together. Although a slightly limited menu, the food in the evening was good, and the full English breakfast was a triumph. The golf course has 27 holes, we played the jubilee and imperial layout. The jubilee was easier, but that was mainly due to the wind on the second day. The holes have water, hanging lies and well placed bunkers. Some of the holes have spectacular views of the coast. Greens were good, tee beds could be improved, fairways were great. The bar is a good place to relax although not that busy, but does have SKY TV and a pool table.

A superb value golf break

Can't fault Hunley Hall for making our daughters Holy Communion celebrations just perfect! Claire was amazing in organising and managing everything, the Yorkshire buffet was amazing and the staff so attentive and welcoming.....nothing was too much trouble....huge thankyou too all involved

Hunley celebration

What an amazing stay. The hotel is beautiful. The view is stunning. The golf course looks well kept. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated, well equipped and I slept great. Very comfortable bed. As for the food that was delicious and the staff are all so friendly and efficient.  Thanks team Hunley. Hopefully I will be back soon. 

1st class stay 

Not a bad place to stay, best description is a golf course with rooms, but don't let that put you off. Rooms clean and bright, hotel staff are conscientious and friendly. 

The food on site is OK featuring local cuisine, you will not leave any slimmer than you came. 

The location is quiet and good views out to sea across the golf course.

The staff are brilliant..Claire was so helpful sorting us all out.Food lovely and amazing views of the sea.Will be back for another weekend.Thankyou to all the staff .The lodge is going to be our next booking its a home from home brilliant.

Vinters golf weekend

Went with friends for 2 rounds of golf,evening meal and breakfast 
The plus points: room was clean tidy and presentable.
Golf course was good and a good test. Staff helpful.
The bad points: evening meal was atrocious, prawn cocktail starter was just a handful of prawns thrown on a few very wet iceberg lettuce leaves
Couple of lads who had soup had to send back to get warmed up. My main was salmon which was very crisp on the outside but wasn’t too bad. Came with a few lukewarm broccoli florets and some hard( possibly re cooked) new potatoes. The lads who had the chicken parmo had a piece of chicken breast with some form of melted cheese on it and chips that were crap. The lettuce on some of these was almost rotten and when pointed out to server she said would let kitchen know, but we didn’t hear anything else about it. 
Desserts were tasteless too

All the corridors were cold and obviously not being heated
Shower in morning took ages for any hot water to pull through, had to run hot tap in basin and bath to get any. 
Breakfast; full English, hash brown was cold, bacon was like shoe leather, black pudding was that hard thought about using it for a ball marker, one cherry tomato cut in half and grilled but cold. Fried eggs were really runny and barely fried. Poached eggs were very runny too. We asked for jam and marmalade for toast. None!!
Think hotel is struggling. Would go back for golf but wouldn’t stay and certainly wouldn’t order any food. 
Was going to give one star but golf was good and staff were ok.

Sunday golf

Stayed for 2 rounds of golf, dinner, bed and breakfast. Staff were helpful both in hotel and pro shop. 

Rooms were clean and well appointed, great sea views, course greens well kept and a driving range to warm up on. 

Previous comments about every fairway sloping left to right sounds like someone having a bad round as not accurate. Yes the 1st and 3rd do but remainder of the course is a mix and that’s golf (certainly in Scotland) if you want to play par 4s in a flat paddock up and down stay at home. 

The rough is a genuine penalty to go into but some very reachable par 5s as well, so personally nothing to grumble about and enjoyed the course. 

Staff gave us few taxi numbers to get into Saltburn few minutes away and enjoyed couple of pubs in town. 

For the price and this all comes down to bang for buck, excellent deal.

Good value for the price and pleasant staff

The hotel is OK but not brilliant, the course that we played was very demanding as all the fairways rolled left to right so we lost a good few balls. Later the staff couldn't serve a meal without dropping something. Our starter was served on what looked like roofing tiles not plates so no wonder it all went on the floor. Not happy but at least we had a nice view.

Golf weekend

looked at previous reviews  after hubby booked it for my birthday treat. Not expecting  much how wrong was I ...staff so so lovely every one off them .Breakfast really lovely  meals  were really  good  ..Golf course in excellent condition and a good test. Overall a delightful stay  will definitely  be back Thank you Claire and all your colleagues
