We were stranded as our car was locked in a car park and it was 1130pm.All hotels on the seafront were full and we were desperate so my son located this hotel. We phoned them and they said they could accommodate us. We made our way there by  foot and the gentleman behind the bar  greeted us enthusiastically. He gave us the keys to our room and we were pleased to find 2 double beds and a single bed all made up with clean linen and towels upon.  We found it comfortable and very clean.  The staff were there in the morning and were also very nice but we didn’t stay for breakfast as we needed to get home. We would like to thank the staff for there welcome if it wasn’t for them we would have spent a very cold night in a bus shelter.Thankyou.

booked to stay 14-15 feb but checked out early as bed was broken was very hard to get a responce reception was shut and phone numbers didn't get answered when did was told would call back still nothing at 15.44 
room booked was diffrent to room that we was provided very poor and would not bother staying again or recommend anyone to stay they

Very welcoming, great hospitality..felt comfortable and homely. Staff were great very helpful and approachable would highly recommend a stay here or even a visit to the bar. 5 star all the way can’t wait to visit Hastings again and stay here again

Home from home

Its wonderful welcoming entertaining beautiful tranquil and delightful and the rooms are spectacular and the hosts are of the highest standard and everyone within it. It was perfect for me and my wife to be, it made me love her even more 

Excellent 

We were shocked at how grim this hotel is, worst place we’ve ever stayed in. Beautiful old building in need of care and attention. The entrance porch, hall, stairs, and landing were filthy, I didn’t want to touch the handrail. The bar/reception was dirty, run down and intimidating with builders etc drinking in there. We quickly dropped off our bags and left for the day, scared to come back and sleep there. The staff were however very friendly and helpful, so can’t fault them at all. Our room was ok, basic but clean, the sash window didn’t stay open so I had to prop it open with the bin. Awoken in the night by loud music and people going back to their rooms. Woke and left as soon as we could, no one on “reception” so left the key on the bar. This hotel shouldn’t be licenced as a hotel, it’s a proper shocker, wouldn’t stay here again and suggest you don’t either!

Hotel looks impressive from the outside and that’s where it ends the inside is awful the bedroom was damp wind whistling through the window with a breeze no curtains only a blind the room was basic but I didn’t expect anything more for the price I paid although I got told it was cheap what I paid for the night but I really wouldn’t of paid anymore than I did. Got up the next morning to check out and not a single person in site had to leave the key hanging on the bar door along with others keys as we had no clue where to put them.

Here we go from start to finish, booked in for two days with breakfast included all paid for by the buy a gift voucher scheme at a cost of £260. On arrival couldn’t park only 4 spaces. Enter hotel, book in at bar to which manager asked do we want breakfast, yes I say it’s included,  no it’s not he says  it’s £9.00 each, show him paperwork, is included, agreed to honour it at a loss to him of £50 !!!!!
Room small, smelly and not clean, hairs in drawers of bedside cabinet, shower smelt of raw sewage. Mattress, sinking in the middle, could feel the spring poking our backs, terrible nights sleep, hotel/inn looks impressive from outside, but when you enter it’s all downhill, no personal service, stair carpet leading to all floors dirty and stained, as for room cleanliness, it’s a big zero, looks like only cleaned what’s obvious
Although booked for a 2 day stay we left the next morning as could not stay in those conditions. Oh breakfast was fairly decent so it does have one good point, wether it will always be ok is a gamble you take.
Hotel/inn needs some investment put into it to at least bring it up to a decent standard,  3 * I would not give it 1* from what we experienced. Good luck to any one who uses it. Think the owners should contact that hotel lady, who gives good advice on renovations etc etc

Avoid like the plague

Depressing location, depressing building. Depressing manager/owner/bloke who gives you the key. Dank pub on the ground floor, steep wonky stairs to the bedrooms, heavy doors which are not designed for people to have luggage, carpets in hall and stairs are from 1970 and have never been cleaned. Musty dank corridor. Bedroom itself; no blind on the window- absolutely no curtain or blind on a single glazed broken sash window. Bathroom looks like it was put in 15 years ago and then just never maintained. a leaking toilet left water/puddle on the floor, the sink also had a leak. TV signal means you get one or two channels. On top of this like every one else who booked here under the delusion they had paid for breakfast you learn you "haven't"- you get told at the door breakfast isnt included, and the only reason people clearly dont complain to the non-smiling bloke is because after seeing the place you realise you would never consume food on the premises, so its hardly worth the argument and you resign yourself to staying here because you thought it was a bargain but it absolutely isnt, please spend an extra 20 and go somewhere nice.  Didnt feel very safe either- can't imagine there was any safety checks or fire checks on the property, its thoroughly neglected and on its last legs.

This is my 2nd time staying here and to be honest if you want somewhere proper and honest to stay this is the place it's very comfortable very welcoming very honest the staff make you feel like family within a day your be on 1st names terms with them all its well priced the breakfast is lovely I've slept really well my room is comfortable and relaxing the building has history it's that honest of a place it's 1 of the places what should win 4 in a bed it's not pompous it's an honest b and b and if your down to earth person well it should do for you I'm honestly telling you you couldn't find a more honest band b and I travel around a lot 10 out of 10 that's my opinion if your looking for chic and wanna pay silly money well this place won't be for you this is what you call a proper good old fashion b and b an honest 1 the decor is cool and relaxing

What a fantastic place to stay

My partner and I really enjoyed our two-night stay at the Highland Inn. Our room was clean, tidy and pleasant; the staff were friendly and helpful while they served a tasty full English breakfast on both mornings. In keeping with the St Leonard’s vibe, the building is quirky, but that suited us perfectly. We will definitely book there again.
