Its like stepping into the 1920s but not in a good way. It requires a good clean and refurb although the owners are very nice we were glad to leave to be honest. The breakfast wasnt great. I wont be back.

Not good

Ideally located for my house hunting trip, this little B&B (with parking) is in the Highertown district of Truro. Although situated on the A390, we could not hear the road, and were only minutes away from the A39. The accomodation was of good size with both a double and single bed in our room, complete with an ensuite, large television and wifi. There was no shortage of storage space, with bedside tables, chest of drawers and a huge wardrobe. All very clean and well presented. A hospitality tray was also provided and topped up daily. A continental breakfast was included in our stay and this included a variety of cereals, fruit, pastries, yoghurt, ham, cheese not to mention toast and tea/coffee.

Our hosts Averil & Mike were very accomodating and have been in the business for more than three decades, they showed a genuine interest in how our day had been, even checking how our meal was at the local pub they had recommended.

In summary, thoroughly enjoyed, good sleep and clean. Will certainly visit again.

Experienced operators who do what they do well

The rooms are quite large. We had a room with an integrated bathroom, which was really nice in size. Other rooms had the bathroom next door. The room was absolutely clean. Of course, you have to remember that you are in an old building. So don't come here with the idea of a newly built villa. Breakfast was really great. Toast and croissants, plus a selection of jam, ham and cheese. Fresh fruit, cereal and yogurt. After I get a midnight English breakfast out of my throat, this is heaven on earth.

Original and beautiful

The instant you enter the door you are transported back to the turn of the twentieth century. A beautifully furnished old world house with a very warm feel to it. The rooms are spacious, carpeted and comfortable with TV, electric shower and coffee / tea facilities. Breakfast is a real treat. It's a continental style breakfast with an excellent variety of foods and freshly cooked toast, but the environment is just fabulous. A richly decorated late nineteenth century room surrounded by victoriana and stylish open fire. The owner Mike is extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful but also understands hospitality and leaves guests to enjoy the environment. For an authentic and unique BnB at an excellent price this place is hard to beat. 

A truly wonderful Old World Gem

The place has an old fashioned feel to it. But the shower and bathroom facilities were very modern. The owner was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was fine, but should be advertised as continental type breakfast.

Old fashioned but very comfortable

Mike, the owner, is a very helpful, pleasant gentleman. He is stuck in his ways but, why not, as he has been there 30 years and seems quite content the way things are.

Front bedroom overlooking main road but little noise due to double-glazing. Large comfortable room with an unusual en-suite of just washbasin and shower. The toilet and another shower were in a bathroom next door with exclusive use. Normal TV, kettle and tea/coffee facilities with wi-fi.

Breakfast was basic - tea, toast, cereal, croissants, fruit buns. orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurts, slices of ham and a selection of different cheese portions. I would suggest  hard-boiled eggs would add variety. 

A pleasant stay at a reasonable price.

Comfortable and old-fashioned B&B

Don't go there for the quiet because near a road with traffic. Don't go there to get some air because the bedroom window doesn't open...( sort of double glazing plastic ° Don't go there for breakfast (all except English..)

Old man, disappointed overall

Stayed 2 nights at the Fieldings and was a little underwhelmed. On the positive side the room was fine, large and comfortable, shower cubicle small but good powerful shower. On the negative side the breakfast was a joke, toast, tea, cereal and the saddest "continental breakfast" you've ever seen. On leaving I found he'd taken the deposit 3 times, he thought it was twice but luckily I could show him the transactions on my phone. So, if you want a good bed, it's fine but breakfast was no good. Average B&B

No vegetarian cooked breakfast.. Just toast and cereal... and cheap orange juice and I saw it being re decanted back into the carton...... and  a coffee.. No milk in the room... Light switch broke in the bathroom... Not clean.. carpets dirty.... I certainly will not go back.... Bed, pillows, lovely though.. and clean sheets and duvet cover... TV not working either.. I had to re tune it....

Not too good...

The rooms are really empty, which can be comfortable, because everything is clean and the accommodation is probably well located. This is not the case here. The bathroom in the hallway is a private bathroom, but it's also more than old, with carpet. It wasn't cleaned during the three nights there either. The absolutely leaking window went out to the main street and in the morning there was car noise. The heating in the room clogged all night (didn't want to stop). A room with a second mini shower and sink was also dirty. Breakfast was okay. Averil is friendly and her husband gave tips, but that couldn't make us sad.
