Stopped here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. 
Very friendly staff and cheerful service. 
Food was what you expect from spoons. 
Would be nice if they cleared tables regularly lots of glasses and plates left on lots of empty tables. 
As away a good selection of drinks on offer at very good prices

Only popped in for a drink was quite busy but managed to get a table,the lady behind the bar called Emma was amazing she knew how to manage the queue and was very switched on,food was piping hot all round good experience , general appearance of the place looked good 

Drink 

Fantastic Hotel, centrally located for city touring.  Staff excellent, so courteous and extremely helpful.  Hotel Manager Emma was so efficient.  All staff should be complimented and are a credit to Wetherspoons.  Rooms beautifully appointed and comfortable.  Lift only in one half of hotel so be sure to ask for lift when booking.  Ideal for couples visiting city.

Excellent hotel for visiting city.  Clean, very comfortable and excellent value for money.

The good bits...Nice modern bathroom..Clean room..daily top up of bottled water and biscuits...

The bad bits..No body wash (luckily i took my own)..decor looking tired..one of the chairs should be binned..kettle needs replacing..ugly netting outside dirty windows..constant noise from outside generator or fan contraption..unpleasant odour that smelt like drains lingered most of the time..

Yes it was only £139 for two nights but  you'd be better of in a Traveldoge,Ibis or Premier Inn.

Wooden spoon for Wetherspoon

Great big Rooms, clean and everything you need. Plenty of toiletries, tea/coffee etc and bottled water. Air Con kept the room cool and price good. Above Wetherspoons Pub in a pedestrian street, but no noise so a good nights sleep.
Wetherspoons breakfast you pay for but it is the same breakfast you get at every spoons at a great price. We are there before going to the cricket which was a short walk and only 5 mins from the station. Added bonus of cheap beer £2.46 for Doom Bar and bar open until midnight. Excellent stay and will book again.

Great Location

Went here to meet some friends. It was packed out, so I went to the bar to order our drinks, as my friends had 'phoned to say they were nearly there. The shouty barmaid was having an argument with a customer, there was a queue building up with the other two barmen down at the empty app end, chatting because the place was full of OAPs, who don't use the App. Eventually,  one of them came up to our end and began serving, starting with two push ins. I objected saying there was someone in a wheelchair who was first and then me. 
What a shambles of a pub, The Postal Order was so much better it is a shame they closed it.

Bad service

Hotel absolutely amazing and faultless as always and staff very friendly Thankyou. the spoons food however shocking curry was disgusting and cold yet burnt. tip !! Leave the curries to the Indians  and not the  cowboys. cannot believe what we were served and on informing staff they just said ok and walked off

Hotel amazing food dire

Book a room for a couple of nights whilst visiting the Christmas Fayre. Check In was un-staffed and resorted in us giving to go into he Pub and requesting assistance. Then to be told that Check In doesn't open until 2.00pm, fortunately we were able to leave our luggage.
We returned around 4.00pm only to find Check In once again un-staffed. This again required us to go into hhe Pub and request assistance.
We eventually entered our room. Room was OK, not massive but not undersized neither. Comfortable bed with good quality linen.
Bathroom was good with nice fluffy towels and a nice powerful shower.
Gratis Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate & Biscuits. Although they did run out of Milk and was given a small jug.
Overall I really couldn't find fault with the Hotel side of this establishment. But sadly the Pub side really let's this establishment down. Wetherspoons try to encourage the use of the app for ordering drinks and food. I Don't have a problem using this and have used it on many occasions. However when for reasons unknown there is no Phone Signal and the Free WiFi simply is not functioning correctly. So as your trying to order food & drinks the app keeps say no Internet access - resulting in a very stressful experience. 
Food is typical Wetherspoons  - good value for money. But nothing special. The biggest letdown with this establishment is with its staff. Friday night they were reasonable, pace at which food and drinks were being brought to the tables was good  - But clearing away empty plates and drinks was another matter. This simply wasn't being done until a table was vacated. Breakfast on Saturday morning was just a disaster. 26 minutes from ordering to receiving our mugs for Tea & Coffee is totally unacceptably. 37 minutes from ordering to receiving our breakfasts is again totally unacceptably. Especially when seeing staff doing very little around the dumb waiter.
Saturday Night Dinner was again a disaster, table was filthy and hadn't been cleaned for some considerable time. Managed to get some WiFi and quickly ordered our food and drinks. These arrived a short while later  - actually in reasonably time if I'm honest. Attempted to reorder drinks, unable once again to get any WiFi or phone signal. In the end gave up and went elsewhere.
So there you have it - A reasonably Hotel offering reasonably accommodation being let down by A poorly run and poorly managed Pub staffed by disinterested staff.



OK it's a Wetherspoons but that no Excuse

Hotel room was clean and adequate.
Good location right on high street, even so it was quiet.
No parking and no food included.
Very cheap food from the pub, but remember you get what you pay for!!
Would probably book hotel again but avoid eating in the pub.

The first problem was the en suite bathroom in our room (202). As soon as I opened the bathroom door, there was an awful stench (a cross between poo, vomit and chemicals). There appeared to be a stain near the door, too. We couldn't work out what could be causing the stench and spoke to the duty manager, who said the rooms had just had a 'chemical flush' and there was obviously some sort of 'blow back'. To be fair, he arranged for someone to go and sort out the problem and it was resolved. No compensation of any sort was offered, however and there was no one on Reception when we checked out. The other issue was the housekeeping staff. They woke us up at 9.45am, gossiping loudly, laughing and coughing right outside our room (bear in mind we were wearing earplugs!). I had to bang on our door and ask them to keep the noise down, which they did for all of 10 minutes, then they started up again. We had a Do Not Disturb sign on our door, which they obviously ignored. If we had been staying a further night and wanted to lie in until 12 or so, then we would have been even more annoyed. I can't imagine they made a very good job of cleaning our room after we checked out at 11am, as they were all down in the bar area with drinks and had ordered breakfast by 11.30am. We also noted that the communal areas and the pub downstairs weren't particularly clean and the stairs to the toilets needed a good hoovering. Several cubicles in the ladies were dirty and had no toilet paper in the dispensers. Someone obviously isn't keeping on top of the quality of work of their cleaning staff. It's such a shame, as we've stayed here twice before and had no complaints. The last time we stayed here was 17 months ago and the place has obviously gone downhill since then.
