We spent one night there on the way to Ouray. It was a lovely experience. For just one night we booked the single room w/shared bathroom, which was no problem for the short stay. The Teller is really more of a boutique motel, only 10 or so rooms.  Very clean, incredibly pleasant manager ready to help in anyway. Would gladly return

Great Spot

The hosts were very accommodating and pleasant.  Would recommend highly!
The place is historic and the accomodations felt like traveling back in time.  
The hosts were understanding when we booked the wrong days for our trip and let us change them after they had technically started.

Weekend Stay

The Teller House is a very cool place to stay. History abounds. Our room was awesome with a tangible feel of old days. The owners could not have been nicer or more welcoming. comfortable bed, good shower, and surprisingly quite (mid week stay) Silverton is a great town with a good vibe.

Enjoyed very much

Typically I don't book ahead for hotel rooms, but we were traveling with a friend who didn't go for the whim of the day way. He booked a room at another motel in town, and when I compared prices, I opted to stay at the Teller House for the same price. At the time, no one else had booked for the same time we were going so we had choices of all the rooms.

We ended up opting for the room that overlooked the Main Street and included a private bath. 

Finding the hotel was easy and it took a moment to realize that neither store on the sides were part of the hotel. You went up the flights of stairs to a landing that had open doors to the rooms. There was a desk that gave you instructions on how to find your room. For us however, there were other friendly guests already there who told us that we were to find our name on the door and that our keys would be located on the bedside table.

Personally I thought it was a really cool way to check-in to a hotel. I loved how personalized it was to see my name on the door and then have easy access into the room. No going through the process of the dutiful checking in. The innkeeper was around if we did end up needing them. 

Our windows opened so we definitely did that to bring in the fresh, cool air. When you were laying on the bed you could see the tops of the mountains. Our personal bathroom was small but greatly appreciated. Everything fit without feeling cramped.

There was enough outlets for me to be able to plug in all my electronics (GoPros, phones, laptop and etc.).

In the evening the town pretty much shut down and went quiet. Except for the few noisy people who decided a quiet street was perfect for blaring music from the side-by-sides. 

Despite all that, it was overall a really great stay and had a good night sleep. The bed was comfortable. All in all if I had to do it all over again, I would definitely stay at the Teller House again.

Truly Enjoyed Our Stay

Loved this historic hotel.  The host & hostess were very helpful and great to chat with. Walking distance to everything you need in this quaint town.  No A/C but we really didn’t need it. Extremely  clean.  Ice machine for guests and also nice coffee station accessible for your early AM caffeine fix.  We would definitely recommend this great find.

Awesome historic hotel

Not sure how they expect someone to sleep in this room with the stains on the pillows and the street light shining directly in their eyes. They also advertise a private bathroom went to my room does not have.

I'm very disappointed with my choice as I'm planning on getting up early and having a long day of driving. This isn't going to help me do that.

Bright street light in my eyes

Booked online and confirmed with credit card information. Called and confirmed with staff 2 days before arrival. The next morning received an email that the hotel is booked. When we spoke to Naomi she said the hotel was closed and we could pay $110 more at another establishment. Is the hotel booked or is it closed? I guess we will find out when we arrive in town tomorrow.

Colorado family rejected

The Teller House is this antique old building that is very comfortable and cozy.  You go in and your name is on the room that you booked.  There is a coffee/charge/tv room you share with others.  It was clean and exactly as it had been described when I booked the rooms.

Awesome stay

This was the easiest hotel to check in/out of and very welcoming with your name on the door and the key on the nightstand. Clean, friendly, relaxed. I would highly recommend it. The old building makes it feel like Ireland. Simplicity is wonderful! Keep doing what you are doing!

Wonderful Stay

Teller House is a Victorian hotel from Silverton's heyday as a mining boomtown.

The hotel is located on the second floor of an older building on Silverton's main street. It's centrally located within a block or two of everything Silverton has to offer. Walking upstairs to the hotel is an experience in itself. The building is charming and impressive and draws you in immediately.

When we stayed, we never saw a single hotel employee! We arrived to find a sign on the beautiful, period reception desk telling us "If you have a paid reservation, your name is on the door of your room and the keys are on the nightstand." Since there are only about 10 rooms all located within eye sight of the reception desk, this was no problem and actually a welcome expedient.

The room was large (ours had two queen beds) with large windows overlooking Silverton's main street. The small bathroom included a shower. A small breakfast room was just steps away and ice water was available in the hall.

We felt like we were staying in an old west town at an old west hotel and having an authentic experience, yet we never felt like we were roughing it. We'd recommend this experience to anyone.

The Mexican restaurant downstairs is good and the proprietor proudly makes all his own desserts so be sure to ask for his recommendation.
