We made a reservation for one night at the Sun Cloud Inn. The property was beautiful and the host was very congenial. However there were a few things that we were disappointed in.

1. One of the things we look forward to at a bed and breakfast is the chance to eat a yummy breakfast and chat with other guests. The sun cloud inn apparently used to serve a nice breakfast, but now you get a very limited fix your own breakfast. There was a supply of store bought muffins, yogurt, and fruit. That was about it. 

2. There is a nice game room, where you eat your breakfast, but strangely, there were no tables to sit at while you eat, or if you wanted to play a game. 

3. No tv in the rooms, but there was a large tv in the game room. However, it did not work. Our host told us he was having issues with the service provider, and it was not working.

4. We received a separate strange charge on our credit card that was in addition to the room. I sent an email asking what the charge was for, and never received an answer.

5. All of the guest rooms are up a long flight of stairs, so if you are older or hanicapped, this is not the lace for you.

If you just want a nice quiet place for the night, then this place is okay, but I did not feel like it was worth the price.

Beautiful property but ...

We stayed one evening as part of a 14 hour trek to visit family in Idaho. After a long drive we landed our intended evening accommodation in route.  Guy was gracious and responsibly attentive provide dining advice (taken and spot on for our price pointe and food quality), history of the property and we were more than satisfied with our stay by value and amenities.  They ambiance was quaint, homey and felt like a wonderful evening respite in the hills. Room and common area was spotless and Covid precautions plus, plus attended to and in summary we  enjoyed the gardens flora and the evening fauna delight of a deer pack grazing in the grass. We would stay again in a moment except next time we stay longer and take more of the Inn and the surrounding area in as well.  Family operation with every detail attended to with care and appreciation for their guests.

And oh so quiet, did I mention that?!  We came up for a wedding I was officiating further up the road at the Dutch Flat Hotel.  Our stay here was much needed in this crazy Covid time.  Gorgeous rooms and furniture in classic old country inn style.

Of course in these strange times there’s no longer a big delightful breakfast served but the “continental” offering was good and filling.

Beautiful Inn — Spectacular Views

We had an enjoyable time here.  The inn is situated atop a pretty wooded hill. Views are very scenic and the grounds are lush with gardens. Accommodations were clean and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good. The hosts are genuinely nice people. For the price of a modest hotel room we had a much more enjoyable experience. 

Very pleasant stay

Beautiful hilltop site with views of Sierra foothills. Gorgeous sunsets, colorful foliage, beautiful pond. A real Oasis of quiet. 

Breakfast was substantial. Guy and his sister are great hosts. 

A wonderful getaway about 30 minutes from Grass Valley.

Wonderful, Serene, outstanding

The B&B was just the perfect get a way from our daily hectic schedules, it was great to unplug, no TV in the room.  The breakfast was very good and the grounds were spacious, nice to take strolls.  The pond with the jumping frogs was definitely a highlight. You are close to Grass Valley as well as Nevada City for dining options.  Yes, there is great WiFi! The spa just outside the back door was a great way to relax before heading to bed.

Want a great staycation near Sacramento Area, this is place!

Nice custom built BnB on view hill not far from Colfax and Grass Valley, California. Lovely, clean rooms and very nice bed. Salon for guests with coffee, wine, etc. Impressive hot breakfast and great coffee. Genial host and lovely grounds.Excellent adult get away.

Very pleasing stay

The grounds and views surrounding the Sierra Sun Cloud Inn were gorgeous!  The sunset that we saw was beautiful!  We stayed for our honeymoon night.  There was complimentary wine and champagne and water in the  common room.  Fresh flowers in our room.
Guy, the host was very friendly to all of the guests and made each of us welcome!

Foothill Beauty!

Unfortunately, I'm just passing through. This B&B is highly recommended. Beautifully located, the facilities are detailed and very friendly. It feels like home.

The B&B is located on a very well-maintained and large plot above the mountains. You had a wonderful view of the mountains. We enjoyed the tranquility very much. The house is tastefully furnished and super clean. We were very friendlyly received by Guy and surprised with a great breakfast. We would like to stay but we will come back. A great place to rest and relax, highly recommended.
