I reserved a room through Travelocity for 1 night in Dec. 2024. I chose the option that allows for free cancellation up to 1 week prior to reservation. I received a call from Danny, who works at the bed and breakfast. He stated that he wanted us to reserve for two nights and that he could charge us for canceling within 30 days of the reservation. I explained to him that the reservation was made through  Travelocity and they sold the room for one night with the cancellation policy I wanted. He was very rude and did not care to listen to anything I had to say. I ended up canceling right then because I wouldn’t have felt safe staying anywhere with this rude man.

I would stay here again. It is in a great neighborhood for walking and smelling the lilacs. Downtown is just a short drive from this place. Gary is a wonderful host with great stories and makes a delicious omelette. 

Great Spot!

Gary was an amazing host for our stay. All of the rooms were gorgeous, and we stayed in the Hollywood room. It was better than any hotel I've ever been to, and we felt at home. Gary took care of us with drinks and snacks for the night, and then a delicious homemade breakfast in the morning. It far exceeded any expectations I had, and we will be coming back at least a couple more times to see some of the other bedrooms. 

Beautiful home with great hospitality

In a word, FABULOUS! By far, one of the best places that me and my husband have ever stayed. Gary is the ultimate host: warm, welcoming, thoughtful and very experienced. The beautiful historic home is nestled in the Old Northside neighborhood. The rooms are elegantly decorated and very inviting. They draw you in to relax and nestle.
Gary went above and beyond all our expectations. From the home baked cookies to the array of snacks and beverages available (all gratis) and the hundreds of movies available, and the plush towels and soft sheets, Wi-Fi boosters and premium channels on the tv, and the option of having your full breakfast served at a time of YOUR choosing, and the million little ways you are made to feel “right at home,” a stay at the Old Northside Bed and Breakfast will draw you back again and again. Thank you for making our visit SO special. This place is a treasure!

A Treasure in Old Northside 

We were greeted very kindly by Danny with super delicious doughnuts and a detailed house tour. The rooms are almost a museum and each one is designed differently. The breakfast is super delicious and there is more than enough. We felt very comfortable and welcome.

Hospitality at its finest! 
Gary is the perfect host providing homemade cookies, best banana bread, plenty of snacks, drinks & full breakfast spread! All while staying in a beautiful 1800 home full of art, memorabilia from travels around the world, and interesting pictures from this Renaissance man’s life!  We enjoyed the Library room with tons of comfy space! We will be back every year I hope! I can’t come more often because I would gain 50 lbs eating the irresistible butterscotch cookies!

Hospitality at its FINEST

If you are seeking an oasis in the midst of bustling Indy,  look no further than  Old Northside Bed and Breakfast, located in a quiet area of the historic district.  We enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay in the "Hollywood Room" adorned with photos of old movie stars allowing a retreat from the madness of today's world into a nostalgic past. The hot breakfast  (a different entree served each morning) along with fresh fruit, oj, toast, cereal and anything else you can imagine was outstanding. The inn is also stocked with ice cold water, a selection of soda, chips and delicious and often still warm, home made cookies baked by Gary himself. The inn is chock full of video tapes and dvds of any movie, past or present ever made. If your schedule is not full for the day, lay back and enjoy a flick with some homemade cookies or popcorn and if Gary is available, chat with him about his extraordinary life and the fascinating people he has encountered throughout. A magical stay thanks to our special innkeeper Gary who truly goes out of his way to make guests feel at home.

Hollywood Nights

Great old house!  Gary was very welcoming and accommodating.  We had a couple of special needs, and he was gracious about them. Breakfast was wonderful!  We would have enjoyed talking more with Gary as he is a very interesting person.

Lovely and fascinating place to stay

This was my first time attending a bed & breakfast, before I would book a hotel with my partner for a brief getaway during our times off. The owner Gary told me once I try a Bed & Breakfast, I'll never go back and I think he's absolutely right! I had no idea how a place you've never been to before can feel so cozy and just like home. There's so much charm and difference in rooms that each stay-in can be a new experience. It looks bulky on the outside but stepping in breaks your perception, showing off how immensely spacious it truly is on the inside. 
Lot of classic films and music tapes/DVDs bring you back to a time where you were much younger. In a way it is reminiscent of visiting a grandparent who always baked you cookies and offered snacks during your weekend off school or other things in life. All this is amplified by the nicks and natural aging of the inn that gives it that personal charm no hotels could offer from their uniform & modernised style. The owner is very communicative and flexible on your check-ins, for the price it's worth every second of it.
My partner Sarah and I will cherish the time we spent there, and we couldn't have been more grateful for that opportunity been so well delivered by the quaint inn and its welcoming host. Thank you so much Gary!

Feels like Home

Great place, comfortable bed and room and the innkeeper was great.  We didn’t eat breakfast because we had other plans for breakfast but it smelled wonderful.  The inn keeper told us about the history of the home which was very interesting.  Also snacks and drinks were complimentary.
