Denali Crow's Nest Cabins

We were disappointed in our stay at The Crow's Nest for a variety of reasons:

-  Our room had a Broken window
-  TV did not work
-  Wifi barely worked
-  Shower temperature went from cold to scalding
-  Bedroom floor slanted
- The toilet was stained
-  Mattress covered in plastic sheeting
-  There is a fairly steep trail you have to walk up/down from the cabins parking lot to the street

One positive note was the on-site Restaurant.  Very good food and service. 
 For accommodations, I recommend you stay across the street at the Princess Denali Wilderness Lodge.

Disappointing stay !

Great location - near the NP.  Two good restaurants on site.  Excellent service from Andreas.  The shuttle bus picked us up from railroad station. When we wanted to go to the NP, Andreas again was very obliging.  He took us back to the rail station when we were leaving. Nothing was too much trouble. Authentic cosy log cabins. Great memories .

Do visit!

The amazing staff of the Crowsnest are just one reason for my good review.  Andres has a gift for getting to know the guests, anticipating needs and providing solutions.  Susan too goes above and beyond.  The shuttles to and from the Denali visitor center make a car unnecessary.  The on-site restaurant is excellent and appears to be a town favorite.  Make reservations.  The rooms are simple, no fuss comfortable.  There can be stairs, and there will be help with luggage.  But again...the staff is exceptional.

Expensive quality of rooms variable.

“Rustic” cabins should not be another word for unmaintained cabins that are quite literally falling apart and a health hazard. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon ($400 per night for a 4 star cabin, we expected a much different environment). The front door has large gaps between the door and frame, there is trim missing and falling off doors / door frames throughout the cabin, the bathroom sink was in the bedroom not even 1 foot from the bed, which was great when the sewage smell came through the drain, the walls are cracked, the room is slanted, there is plywood under the mattress, the mattress is covered in plastic sheeting so it’s very loud anytime you move, I had to request room service for new towels and trash removal after 3 days of no service (and they did the bare minimum), and my personal favorite was the ceiling covered in black mold in the bathroom and fungus growing in the shower. The ONLY good thing was convenient location to the National park. We tried booking another hotel while there and everything else was booked, which should have been a red flag when j booked that this hotel had availability when everywhere else was sold out. I complained in person and over the phone, management does not care for the health or happiness of their customers. Save your money and go somewhere else. 

Black mold and fungus

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Denali Crow's Nest Log Cabins.

The Crow's Nest Log Cabins are located roughly one mile from the entrance to Denali National Park (towards the town of Healy). It is across from the Princess Lodge, and on the hill above shops and restaurants on its side of the road (opposite the Princess Lodge}. Kind of easy to miss the entrance (prior to all the shops on its side of the road, and towards the bridge you cross when on your way from Denali National Park), but once you know where it is, you can't miss it.

The staff were friendly and accommodating.  A boxed breakfast for each guest is included with your stay (in the cooler inside the main office). The room had a king size bed, a table for two, a Keurig coffee maker, a bathroom with a stand-up shower, and a sink in the bedroom area. 

Outside each room is an insulated cooler for your use, and complimentary bags of ice are available in a freezer outside the main office.

There are multiple levels of cabins, and you have to park below the main office. Stairs are required in order to get to every level, but the higher you go, the better the view. Although we didn't need help, staff will assist you with getting your luggage to your room if you're unable to.

The Overlook restaurant lives up to its name, with a beautiful view of the area. The food and service were fantastic (we had a salmon entree and reindeer stew that were out of this world - thank you, Bruce!). Our waitress was very attentive and friendly (thank you, Samantha!).

We highly recommend staying here, and also visiting the restaurant as well (note: the Overlook is seasonal, and it shuts down towards the end of the week of Labor Day, depending on when supplies run out).

A clean, comfortable, perfectly located cabin close to Denali National Park.

We loved the quaintness about the Crow's Nest.  It was off the road, but easily walkable to restaurants.  The restaurant had excellent reindeer stew and a great view.  The folks were very nice and had a shuttle for the train and park.  the room is a bit small, but this was much closer to a real Alaska experience than a normal hotel.  We enjoyed it!!

Excellent Spot in Denali

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. We didn’t know what we were booking as it was a last minute trip, but everything about this place exceeded our expectations. The cabin was really cozy and the grounds were absolutely gorgeous. Also, the food at the on-site restaurant was damn good. It was the best salmon that I ever ate. Finally, it was crazy that a lot of the staff were Jamaican … I found it fascinating because I’m a native from Jamaica and did not expect to find my people in Alaska of all places. Worth the price!

Our cabin was small and the unventilated bathroom was even smaller. Anybody with a disability would never make it up the many flights of stairs. The worst of all as many other reviewers have mentioned NO HOT WATER. How can you rent rooms at their prices? The staff were vague. The only good thing was the view.  I would never recommend this property.

Don't Stay.  No

There are big, corporate hotels to stay near Denali, but we loved staying at the crow’s nest.  It is a small hotel with a much more authentic Alaskan feel.  We loved our little cabin and stayed for 4 days.  However… it is a climb to the cabins and if you have mobility problems this isn’t the place for you.
