Very accommodating couple Tom and Christine made us feel welcome in their home. A complimentary bottle of wine while we sat by the rivers edge watching the people tube and relax on the water. Was very peaceful and cool compared to our temperatures in Florida. It was a great escape from hotels and people during our trip north.

Cool Escape

I can’t say enough positive things about this hotel.  It’s very unassuming from the outside, but we were encouraged by the reviews and booked a stay.  The staff couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful – Southern hospitality at its best!  The room was clean, the view from the balcony was right next to the flowing river.  We greeted tubers floating down the river and enjoyed watching the ducks.  So peaceful!  I will definitely stay there again.

Amazing stay

Tom was a great host. I was unable to meet his wife because she was  away. . However I was able to talk to Christina and she was very warm and friendly. . . The cabin was very clean. The decorations. the sheets and the amenities were quality  french products. Chocolates from France were left in our bedroom.. 
Tom made a delicious breakfast. . We ate on the porch watching  the river. 

I would definitely recommend staying at this Inn. My husband and I had a relaxing and wonderful stay.

Relaxing stay along the river.

Great stay.  It wasn't as fancy as the pictures made it seem, but it was very clean and the staff was very friendly.  It was also a great location. We were able to walk a lot of places without needing to pay for parking.  It was a grab-and-go breakfast, but it was a much better one than we have had in the past at other hotels.

Fantastic location

Tom and Christine have created a wonderful place to visit if you like the peaceful country side by the second oldest river in the world. The New River flows north, unusual but our are in the mountains near Boone. My wife and I stayed in the Mimosas room and I must say I loved the dark and quiet atmosphere you don’t get in a motel.
The breakfast was a true feast “petite de’jeuner” with all the touch of a morning in Provence on the Cote D’Azur. We also had wonderful dinners at the restaurants Tom recommended and Cafe Viollete in Blowing Rock is ‘tres magnifique’ 
We will definitely recommend a stay here and hope to return.

Beautiful get away from the flat coastal plain

A peaceful haven on the banks of the New River. We enjoyed the welcoming company of Tom and Christine. The accommodation was decorated with lovely French items, bed linens, towels and toiletries. The rooms are small but comfortable. Breakfast was a feast served on the back porch. It was a delightful and surprising experience to stay at this inn.

A slice of Provence in NC

Stayed here for the third time. Perfect as usual. A private home with two available rooms upstairs. Come while you can. The view from the porch across the river is unparalleled. And Christine provides a scrumptious breakfast.

Best place ever

The Rivers Edge is a small B&B located in the rural enclave of Todd, NC.  There are two rooms, both are in the upstairs of the owners' home.  BOTH rooms are rented only when the parties are family or connected....so most of the time, you're the only guest.

This is not a palatial estate, with Kensington Palace china and teas.  This is a quiet, rural cabin at the edge of a clear and rapid flowing river.  You will - first and foremost - get a relaxing and good night's sleep.  You will receive a personal and friendly welcome from Tom and Christine.

Christine is from the south of France, and her heritage is reflected in many aspects at Rivers Edge.  The soaps and bathroom amenities have been brought to the facility by Christine on her frequent visit back home to Provence.  The morning breakfast is very European/French.  We were treated to fresh fruit parfaits accompanied by Greek yogurt, French honey and homemade granola.  Christine's homemade almond croissants and brioche buns were spectacular.  (side note, the place smells amazing in the morning as said baked items were being prepared).  One morning, we also had prosciutto, tomato and cheese paninis, and another morning saw absolutely perfect scrambled eggs with scallions, smoked salmon on the side.  The coffee is excellent as is the freshly-squeezed orange juice.

Blowing Rock, Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway are within an easy drive (15-20 minutes tops), and being out in this peaceful valley near Todd,NC is a perfect way to wind down with a French flair.

A couple of note for answers below :
NO, Tom and Christine did not wear masks in their own home.  They did not ask that we do so either.  I am sure that if we'd asked, they would have.  But I will simply say that if you're uncomfortable staying as the ONLY guest in a tiny B&B out in the country, you probably should just hunker down and stay home.   :)

Peace & Quiet, Fabulous Breakfasts (Calme et tranquillité, petits déjeuners fabuleux)

We chose this inn for its proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway.  My husband and I stayed in the Reve Bleu.  There are two rooms and one bathroom upstairs and when one room is rented, the other one is not for privacy.  That was appreciated. Tom was hosting solo while Christine was away and he was a very informative host.  He gave us tips about stops along the Parkway and the flora and fauna in the area.  The garden is lovely and produces some of the food you will have at breakfast/brunch, which was fantastic and came in courses...Yogurt with fresh berries and homemade granola, egg dishes, salmon, capers,homemade French croissants and bread along with fresh squeezed orange juice.  Felt like we were in France with a rustic touch.  
The only reason I did not rate as excellent is because of location.  We loved that it was away from the more commercial areas, but not much to choose from for dining.  The establishment just down the road was good, but no liquor license.  Also, my husband didn't care for the petite chairs in our room...lovely, but not very practical.  Finally, I will note that our bed had the most amazing sheets I have ever slept on!  Wow!  Thanks Tom!

Lovely Spot Right On River

Tom and Christine offer a welcoming experience we won't soon forget. From the French candies left on our pillow, to the phenomenal French brunch, to sharing their knowledge of the area - fishing, hiking, kayaking and more. We certainly will be returning.
