My nephew paid for three nights in advance.  He was in UTAH to present his thesis at a conference.  When he got there they would not let him in.  They threatened him with tresspassing.  My nephew even showed them the invoice proving that he had paid for three nights.  He had to find alternative lodging at the last minute.   Don't look at their reviews on their own site.  They take down all the bad reviews.  Horrible, horrible experience.  Book at your own peril.

Don’t know where to begin with this hostel. First of all there is a self check-in system and no front desk, so if you have questions or need help you depend on emails and calls as this place has literally no staff or apart from one person who does cleaning in the morning. Very impersonal, feels like you stay in a shelter. There is zero atmosphere, the communal area is tiny and it is also the place where you do the self check-in. Nobody is ever there, it makes sense if you think about the size of the room, the tiny window, the lack of sofas and the fact that drinking alcohol is not permitted there. This is not a place to interact with other people. 
Bathrooms were clean but no hot water which made showering a very unpleasant experience.
Regarding the bedroom there was a very unpleasant smell and on the mattress you could feel a few springs. The beds are so squeaky that there is noise with the slightest move, you can even hear the squeaking noise from the beds next door. There is also a lot of noise from cars and people outside since the hostel is located next to a very central road. 
Overall the spaces were clean but when I had to strip my bed during check-out I saw the extremely dirty pillows-mattress and duvet, they all had so many stains on them that it was disgusting. 
The only positive things I can find are the smoking area outside, the clean bathrooms and the one person who was doing the cleaning and was very polite.

Worse hostel I have been

This is a cheap place a little out of downtown that has all the essentials. There is a target less than half a mile away too. It can be a little loud, especially since everyone lets the door slam, but the streets outside aren’t too busy. Everything is clean. The booking process is a little sketchy but once you get there and have the access codes it all makes sense. Check in was easy for me. I met some really awesome people staying here and had a great night in SLC!!

Exactly what I paid for

Very terrible booking experience. From the price changes on their website to when you actually pay the service was abysmal. Actually, there pretty much is no service. The manager tries to make it a tech savvy hostel where there is no front desk just cameras where you can constantly be monitored/ surveillance (what is this China 2020?), computers and codes where you attempt to serve and check-in yourself.. until you actually need a real person's help. It took me who knows how long, how many phone call and email attempts to reach someone at the hostel number when I was at the hostel and my self check-in wasn't working properly. It's like the real life in-store experience of calling a company phone service to speak to a real person, only to be forced repeatedly to speak to an automated machine and self-service option. After the long check-in procedure( maybe an hour?), mind you I already paid and communicated to them previously, I to this day never met anyone working at the hostel. I guess to save money they cut out the service. Even when you check out, you have to follow the self-checkout instructions to a tee, or you will be charged for various minuscule things. Where's the service?

On top of that before you even get to the hostel, they ask you to sign a contract (oh excuse me, invoice) and send your picture and ID in advance. For what? To scout, background check, stalk and potentially refuse people before they arrive on a discriminatory basis? Or to have credit card information and contract on file to randomly charge extra fees when ready? I tell you there was way too much time spent on communicating with them before the booking to protect their pocket than actual service when you get there to take care of the customer. And apparently they lie saying they need your ID to verify your signature on the contract (excuse me invoice). Yeah right. Mind you, you have to email the contract and ID before checking in otherwise, you can't check in (even if you've already paid)! So hungry for money and afraid of risks? I should have known. It makes sense, when you get there, there are so many cameras. This owner is definitely apparently in it to protect his own at all costs, no chances taken on good service, respect, or kindness. And to think, on the tedious self-checkout instructions they even promote to people to write reviews online of the hostel. Here's your review alright! Good day sir. Good riddance!

Annoying Booking. Minimal Service. Infuriating.

They won't respond to your need to cancel as fast as they would if you were trying to book. They will charge you for anything and you will be living in poor conditions (freezing cold, unsafe, noisy, rude and condescending workers, etc.). Do yourself a favor and DO NOT sleep here. They also monitor you so you to make sure you're not inside a room you paid for during the day.

Stay away from this shady company

When you booked, the code had to come from the code lock, but it wasn't there, and you had to correspond with the hostel staff. It wasn't easy to get into the room itself. First you had to register on your computer and only then you get the code from the key box.

uncomfortable housing

This hostel has a very clever settlement system. There is no reception, when booking the door should come with a code. We didn't get this number, we had to get it from the hotel staff by texting. When entering the hostel the query continues. on a special computer you have to go through the registration procedure, after which a new code is issued, using it a lockbox opens on the door of the room where the key is. and only then you can get into the room. It would be all right, but at a high enough price of accommodation we got a tiny and very comfortable room where we both had a clear towel and one towel on the two.

The hotel's not worth the price.

Good hostel if you had to stay in Salt Lake City- I had to spend the night there on the way to Wyoming- generally not bad, you can easily stay there- everything you need from this hostel- the bed there is very special or comfort is not to be taken into account.

It's a good, cheap hostel.

... the bedroom was really small! the hostel had no staff, only a lot of cameras that film the activity of guests in the common places. if necessary, however, you can call a member of the common staff who, as the stoves say, will arrive promptly. to enter the hostel you must get a code that is sent to you via mail and the check-in service is provided via one of the various terminals at the front door of the post office. once you have completed the procedure of locking the door, you can open the bathroom, and you can use a private room, so if you have a private room, and you have a private room, you can use a kitchen key.

Nice idea of a staffless hostel, but...

The hostel is in an excellent position to visit the city. The rooms are clean but very small!!! the bed is against the wall on 2 sides, and on the other 2 there are only about 40cm in which to move and hold the suitcases. There is a common kitchen, with various dishes available, and various common bathrooms (some rooms also have the private one).
