Needed a quick getaway from our recent loss.the rooms have been somewhat updated the staff was very friendly with that said I wouldn't stay on bottom floor people above loud and this morning woke me up at 430ans the shower noise came through and down the wall knocking and trickling for an hour!no sleep for me!
aa I said the views are what u pay for.no breakfast no towels at the hot tub a nice man brought us a smore making kit.tv is very small for the room.id come back but not a bottom unit and maybe when they offer a breakfast option. Very expensive for no sleep neighbors up at 4am wedding group!)my kids had a good time though.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my family for a short vacation.  Booked this place last minute and what a surprise it was. It is older and under some renovation(looks beautiful). We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite lake view #37.  We had a small kitchen with a full size fridge and eating area. 
Also there is central air after being renovated. The grounds are beautiful with lake views. There was chairs and picnic tables outside our room.  They have 2 pools and a hot tub (both in great condition).  There is no beach access since this is on a cliff. The beach and town are only 2 miles away with shopping and restaurants.  10 minute drive 
The office and maintenance staff were very helpful if I needed anything.
There is free coffee every morning but no free breakfast in the morning. (If u want that go stay at a chain hotel)
Would I stay here again ?

Well…pre-Valentines weekend in their ‘best’ room (room 29, third floor closest to the beach with fireplace and whirlpool tub)…upon entry, zero toilet paper or tissues to be found. When we went to retrieve some, front desk, staff apologized multiple times, and tried very hard to assure us that the room had been cleaned. Because this was our one night away, and we had not found quite all of the mess, we had decided to stay but wanted to be very clear that that the status was SUB-par. Floors and other surfaces like vanity and tub sides covered in SO MUCH hair/food crumbs, dust!, fingerprints all over door glass, bathroom mirror covered in dry splash speckles. Someone’s nail clipping found on bathroom counter (in the morning , or we would have absolutely called it). We had been assured that there was positively coffee in the room (front desk staff to be gone overnight and not back in the morning until “9 or 10”), but zero coffee. You won’t find that or any food items in the lobby. Stink/armor bugs happen-we removed 2. The fireplace heat works! Someone left it set at 90 degrees (why???), but the fireplace fan makes horrible noises. Bathroom sink drains so slow you’d better be really fast. PLEASE believe the reviews that say it’s had some improvements but obviously does not deserve your money!

Wow. Filthy!!!

I really wanted to love this place. I had so deeply been looking forward to my stay, however I broke my leg 17 days before my stay and cannot fly due to the health risks per doctor’s recommendation. 

I emailed Lake Bluff Inn in a haze of pain as I awaited surgery and heard nothing back. I followed up, sending them a screenshot of my cancellation and refund request and they aren’t responding as far as only offering me a credit even though I made my request within their stated 14 day window before my stay. They are unwilling to be human in this awful situation and provide even adequate customer service. 

A truly disappointing experience. My extended family goes here every February for a gathering and this will be the last time we patronise this place. 

Very sad as I always prefer to stay at locally owned hotels.

They won’t honour their own refund policy

We booked two nights at this inn and upon arrival were assigned to a motel style ground level room with derelict vertical blinds that would not close. There was no privacy from people walking by. There was also no interior guest security lock on the door. We do not recommend this inn.

Bad Experience at this Motel

Have gone here for years, new owners took over last year and promised to make it better. After years of neglect.Spent money putting in wedding/party tented area, a gym, updated rec room. The rooms we had were never touched, still old pool area, broken picnic tables, no umbrellas. Breakfast no longer available. No night watch person or security. We have watched guests here try to pack in as many as they can in cheaper rooms, hillbilly heaven in a one bed room. No one around to keep check on this. Better to stay at chain hotels outside of town.

Money spent in the wrong places

I didn’t get the room I thought I booked. Instead of a lake view we were in the back area by the parking lot. The front desk attendant was very rude. She said there wasn’t another option but if there was it would be an additional $191/night. The website said they had upgraded and called it “luxury” and “immaculate”. Not at all!  Old furniture-soiled upholstery on chairs, blinds broken, outlets not screwed in, hole in the wall, bathroom dirty, soap dispenser empty, 4 hangers. Pool area and swing set needs attention. Landscaping unkempt. Picnic tables and benches hve chipping paint. View of Lake Michigan is great but the chicken wire fence was unpleasant and took away from it. Never received housekeeping. On third day went to office to ask about it and to get fresh towels. Person was rude and said I needed to request it upon arrival. I asked how I should have known it. She said that’s policy. Rude responses but finally received towels and soap. Won’t be back!  Problem is they won’t care!

So disappointed!

Will never come here again. Very rude owners, not understanding about anything. They don’t want to hear it. They just want to take your money. Our room was dirty , bugs , smelled musty.  It’s a shame because the view is nice that’s it.

Go somewhere else

Other guests were partying and playing loud music so much that we were unable to enjoy our room. Worse yet- the owner refused to make them be quiet down.- We Paid $1,000 to stay here and the owner obviously does not want repeat business from us.

Owner unable or does not want to control loud partying

Outdated, overpriced, bad service. Hasn't been updated since the 80's. Dirty, bird poop on window. We had a contractual check in time of 4 pm. Didn't get in until after 5:10 pm. They claim they don't have enough housekeeping staff to clean all the rooms in time for a 4 pm check. Well, then don't sell all the rooms every night! Or pay a competitive wage and hire more staff. McDonalds has enough workers to fully operate in South Haven. Instead this hotel just keeps throwing the "we don't have enough staff" EXCUSE at guests.
It's a 20 minute drive from the closest beach. Pool is nothing more than a large bath tub. No way this worn out, outdated property should fetch $187 per night. The Wifi is so glitchy I gave up trying to use it. Had to log back on each time I needed to go on line. Clerk at check out yelled at us for complaining about late check in. They would not offer a later check out or a discount for the late check in.
