San Gregorio de Polanco

After two nights, we can say that we felt comfortable around. The hotel is decorated in Asian style, which makes it a nice counterpoint to the usual hotels. The room was in good condition, the breakfast according to standard in Uruguay with good selection. The pool is well suited for cooling. Unfortunately, tourism in San Gregorio is not so in demand that the second floor has been tough for a long time, but this is only visible from the pool. Like many places in Uruguay, dense roofs and decent plugs are not a top priority.

Central location

We were 9 expat visited San Gregorio de Polanco and choose to stay in this hotel which turned out to be very bad experience for us. 

We had spoken with owner over phone to do advance booking since the hotel room seemed sold out in booking.com. Sounds strange but he agreed to give us 3 rooms at a reasonable price and also agreed for a early check-in (11.30 am) n late check out ( 12.30 -1 pm) next day since we traveled from Montevideo. 

On day of arrival it looked different. We were asked to take 4 rooms instead of agreed 3 rooms saying that the extra room is free for us. But in reality we were charged for 3900 per room which is very high in comparison to normal rate for given rooms. 

Till now we were ok with it as it was a experience for us to stay in this hotel as it's very beautiful n located centrally in the city with essential commodities near by available.

On day of check out we did see the change in the owner behavior from morning. We were spoken a bit rudely if we asked for any thing on breakfast. Main issue raised when we were asked to check out by 10 am rudely. We tried to remind politely that we had a deal with owner for a late checkout and please give us sometime as we have to pack the bags and shower accordingly. 

The owner showed rude behavior and didn't agree for it giving absurd reason for cleaning purpose. 

We had to rush pack and leave the rooms without shower for Montevideo.

To be very honest we never this kind of dual and rudely behavior from any hotel/ hostel owners in Uruguay.

We felt Racists behavior from owners also since other guests were given time and priority starting from breakfast service till check out timing.

Highly NON recommended hotel.

Expensive hotel with cheap behavior

A hotel that is being renovated, however, does not prevent you from having an excellent stay! Small but comfortable room, very spacious and clean. The attention is warm and the breakfast very rich!! It is located 3 blocks from the bus terminal but it is a village that can be reached on foot perfectly!!

Oh my ... crazy owner, take care of yourself - if you go here. I visited the place a few days with my wife, we made an effort and paid the suite, and at first sight it seemed nice, however far from the beach. You might even have a good stay, but do not complain about ANYTHING. The owner is not well, and he is a big aggressive guy. See photos, we mentioned the mold to the owner and that the TV was not working, having paied a very high price, we thought it was fair to mention it. Then he went crazy, started yelling at us to the point, were we felt very unsafe and we simply left the hotel. He never apologised or paid back, but in stead told  lies to the agency about what happened. Watch out, especially if you are from Europe like us, you might be used to better manners if you have a minor complain.

WATCH OUT WITH THIS PLACE

The hotel is correct even though it has maintenance details. We tried to open the door and couldn't. We called the reception three times and no one answered the phone, then we had nothing but to shout that we were being opened, otherwise we slept in the car. Then the owner appeared very angry and with a very violent look. The door was open but you were insulting (we thought it was a threat to the security of the guests).

One of the most violent experiences of my life.

I recommend staying at this hotel for a number of reasons: - following protocols contra vivid; the staff uses permanent lids; the breakfast is prepared in separate trays with film that go to the client's table directly; reception rooms, lobby and swimming pool with plenty of air flow; access that the staff do not enter your room on your order and you withdraw what you need at the reception. - accommodation and bed very comfortable. -personal friendly. - very good taste in decoration, architecture and style. - Synthesis, totally recommended for staying in San Gregorio de Polanco.

I recommend the best accommodation in San Gregorio.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, comfortable and jacuzzy room, very good outdoor area for relaxing and enjoying the pool. Typical Uruguayan breakfast but with varieties of fruit (very positive point). Very attentive and friendly attendance! They allowed early check-in, showing flexibility. Super indicated and I'll be back!

I think there are things to improve on this hotel, but it would be too much of a punishment to call it normal for those details; I prefer to give them a vote of confidence and qualify them as very good, especially because of the goodwill of the owners and the tranquility that is breathed in a hotel of white walls, wide openings and a decoration with abundant Buddhas and other elements of the Indonesian island that give the hotel its name.

A good hotel to rest in.

Small Pousada with modern rooms and White/Black interior. Small Pool and Garden to relax in summer days. Maybe the best equiped in Town. But could be a bit cleaner and more pleasant. Safe parking on the street.

We stayed one night at this hotel that we had booked with Booking.com. Within a few days Booking asked me my opinion and I answered with a more sincere opinion.That same night I called the owner and told him that I was at a dinner with more people and that he would call at another time, that's when he started insulting me with words that I won't repeat so that this criticism won't be censored but I can say that if he remembered my mother and my nationality many times and repeatedly in a despicable way I don't want to know how he would have treated the guests who gave him a worse valuation than her, I start to believe they will continue to live.
