Absolutely brilliant stay in Gjirokastra. An amazing hostel. Such lovely and well maintained communal spaces, with a really nice friendly feel. We stayed in the 4 bed dorm and it was so comfy and the beds were seriously good. Our bathroom was super clean and breakfast was delicious. Loved all the teas for guests and the free walking tour was also fantastic. superb location and highly enjoyed !! 10/10

One of our favourite hostels ever - cannot be improved !

We came to Stone and city hostel because a fellow traveler recommended it to us and we did not regret it!The hostel is a magic little place in the middle of Girokastër’s mountains. From our room we had a view on the castle of Girokastër. The hostel has everything a traveler could wish for: the interior is designed with lovely details, the terrace is absolutely beautiful, and the staff is great, willing to help, organizing tours and always up for great ideas. The breakfast is delicious and we even got to cuddle with baby kittens that were sheltered by Walter during our stay at Stone and City hostel.

Would 100% stay here again when in Gjirokaster. I had a brilliant time

ROOMS: Dorm rooms are spacious with lockers underneath the beds. Each bed has a light and plug. The beds are super comfortable - I had the best nights sleep here of my entire trip. There is AC in the rooms too, and they are super clean.

FACILITIES: The bathroom is also very clean with hot, powerful showers. There is a kitchen for cooking should you need it as well as books and a laptop. There is a lovely outdoor terrance and indoor seating space for chilling. Wifi is good.

SERVICES: Breakfast is amazing - eggs, bread and spreads, fruit, cheese, home made cake. The hostel runs great tours including a walking tour and also a jeep tour to various interesting places in the surrounding areas (that would be impossible to get to alone) - viewpoints, waterfalls, Roman ruins, monasteries - it was an excellent tour!

STAFF: Brilliant, super helpful and super knowledgable. There’s a great,friendly vibe at this hostel.

LOCATION: Based in the old town, the hostel is a 20 min walk from the bus station. All of the main sites of Gjirokster can be walked to in minutes

A perfect hostel - you must stay here!

It was a pleasure to stay at Stone City Hostel. It is run by high-energy people with a positive and helpful attitude and a heart for animals. The hostel is a renovated Ottoman house authentic for the region. The walking tour organized by the owner is highly recommended and shows some off the beaten track highlights of Gjirokaster. This is the best hostel I stayed at in Albania so far. Keep up the good work!

Best hostel so far in Albania

Amazing place. Extremely clean, new, comfy and homely. Breakfast are pretty good. Walking tour with the owner was more than fantastic. And the most important thing you have a good and very interesting people around. From the first second I felt like a part of a big family. Definitely the best one !

Perfect place

Family atmosphere in this beautiful building typical of Gjirokastra superbly renovated, with care and taste, right in the center of the historic city. Appearing stones and well-studied layout of space and living rooms. Everything is clean, bright and quiet. Excellent literature. Hospitality that suggests good places to visit and eat. Appetitive and copious lunch. Affectionate owner, cozy kittens. Certainly one of the most beautiful hostels where I enjoyed staying and with real regret that I did not stay there any longer. A note largely deserved for an unforgettable address. Thanks.

Stone City hostel

I had a great stay at this hostel. It is really clean, comfortable and well decorated. Breakfast was good with eggs cooked on demand. Very centrally located and the owner Walter does a city tour in the evening which was a great experience.

Fantastic hostel

This hostel was legit perfection. I cannot fault one thing in it. The hostel felt like a cosy home which I never wanted to leave. The location is perfect, Walter and breanna are amazing (ask walter about his adventures in russia), and it was so clean with a great kitchen, bathroom, dorms everything!!! And amazing breakfast! On one of the nights we all sat and played board games, drinking Rakya and listening to music. You'd be silly to stay anywhere else. The best hostel I have ever stayed at hands down, and I've stayed at well over 200.

The best hostel you will ever stay at

The hostel is really super beautiful! Totally lovingly furnished, very clean and right near the old town. The owners prepare breakfast at a table for everyone every morning and for a hostel the breakfast is really good. In the evening, everyone will relax on the terrace and drink a raki, as it is very familiar there due to its small size! Can you really only warmly recommend it?

Perfect hostel to discover Gjirokastra

I stayed here for three nights at the end of August/beginning of September. Beautifully decorated, comfy beds, good breakfast, spacious outside area, close to centre of town, decent enough showers, naughty kitten - it's genuinely hard to find fault with the  place. If you want to chill out and read a book, you can do that. If you want to drink a stupid amount of beer/wine/raki and meet other travelers, you can do that too. Walter the owner took us on a tour of some of the most interesting houses of old Gjirokaster, and even to a football match the next day. I highly recommend that if you visit this amazing city, stay at this amazing hostel.
