We absolutely loved this place and planning when we can go back already. The location is amazing - the gentleman we spoke with on arrival was fantastic . You literally are right on the beach !! Perfection . 
(Keeping in mind there is no pool and a few flights of stairs - to get to your room... but that didn’t worry us.) The kitchen / apartment is the most equipped place we have ever stayed!! It has everything . Even beach stuff for the kids! 
Make sure if you have kids you throw in their scooters, it’s soo easy to get around! The golf course is literally across the road ! 
You will not be disappointed!! 

Can’t wait to go back!! 

After discovering Bundy has a lack of apartments in town, I was directed to stay out at Bargara instead. Stumbled across this little gem and was so glad we booked it. Yes the property is old, but the friendly staff and comfort of the property made up for little features I think people nitpick about silly things because they have nothing better to do but try and find fault. Air Con was nice, kitchen was practical and the view each morning overlooking Kellys Beach was sublime. The two flights of stairs was a good work out! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with Sandcastles and would happily return back here for future stays, which I am currently in the process of doing pending partners decision hahaha.
Do yourself a favour and give this property a go. Its a short walk from the main area, close to a swimming lagoon, but being absolute beachfront is the winner. The cheeky Bundy Rum (from the Distillery in town hahaha) on the deck of an evening, basking in the warm salty air made this getaway amazing.

Amazing Weekend Away

This is a great location. Right on the beach front at Bargara which is perfect for either a couple or family. Shame the Austar was broken ???
The only  word of advice check parking as the car park was being renovated. No major issue.

The one good thing about Unit 1 is its proximity to lovely Kelly's beach, however that doesn't make up for all the other issues with this place and its management who must be inexperienced in customer service as it was nonexistent.
We were greeted with a gob of food stuck to wall with a hair in it in lounge area (see photo). The same substance on kitchen cupboards. This place said it was 'COVID clean' but hadn't even been dusted. The very poor internet. The noise from the people in unit 5 above us dragging furniture around and bumping and talking loudly throughout our 2 night stay. The dusty cane bedside tables and lamps making us sneeze. Stained tired bathroom. Having to drag our luggage across flimsy plywood over a trench to get to the unit door...surely even the builders wouldn't give this an OH&S pass? Not being told it was under renovation and having to park the car out on street and bring luggage through the construction and fencing was a nice touch . We found the dishwasher was full of someone else's dishes. We messaged the "manager" through the booking website and got no response so called every number we could find for the place and left messages. Finally got a call back from someone saying they were the "manager"but were away (this was a Friday afternoon, EKKA long weekend) and their brother was in Unit 5 above us and they would come and sort the issues after they finished cooking!!!?#....particularly the lack of internet ( not even strong enough for tv to access their own Netflix) and wall filth.  We waited around til 8.30pm and no one showed up. By this time the poor service was beyond forgivable. No internet, dirty noisy unit and then had the privilege of being bitten by the mozzies during the night so they've had the doors open at some point and not sprayed the rooms. Avoid this place!

Badly "managed", dirty, no functioning internet.

My husband, myself and 2 friends booked a 2 bedroom apartment at Sandcastles for a 3 night stay on our return journey home from a road trip up north. We booked a deluxe apartment overlooking the golf course. When we entered the building our thoughts were that we had been given a very standard apartment. On inspection of the rooms we found the security doors in the bedrooms were off the tracks so the men had to put them back in place which was difficult as the rollers were rusted up and needed replacing. There was no air con in the bedrooms, only fans which were thick with dust and were so noisy we had to put them off at night to be able to sleep. There was no washing powder which was meant to be in the apartment, only an empty box. The vinyl lounge was falling apart with chunks of vinyl falling to the floor every time you sat on it. The owner had put 2 cotton blankets over the lounge to hide the mess underneath. We found lots of the vinyl had been swept under the lounge instead of being swept up and put in bin. The kitchen did not have adequate cooking dishes for 4 people. An electric frypan would have been good. The microwave was small with no microwave dishes that would fit inside it. Rubbish was found in the kitchen cupboards.  Drawers in kitchen were dirty with black specs of goodness knows what. White ants had eaten out the timber around the door frame leading to the garden and only the paint was left. Paintwork was dirty in many places. Cushions on lounge had dirt spots all over them. There was an outside area to sit and eat overlooking the golf course but when seated all we could see was the weeds in the garden and trees that blocked our view. The tables and chairs were very rusty and quite uncomfortable to sit in. We did try and see the agent at the specified time as given in the information book in the apartment  but she was not there on opening time. I have sent an email to her with photos of this apartment but she has not as yet given me the courtesy of a reply. Please be aware that this is an older building and certainly not deluxe as advertised.

Unit 4 at Sandcastles on the Beach

Spent 3 nights in apartment 8 on 3rd floor. We were booked on ground floor originally & apparently upgraded? 
Apartment has large living area, all tiled with kitchen & bathroom renovation. Location & view are excellent. Unfortunately we did not make use of the deck as weather was much too hot. Air conditioning worked well.
Please be aware there is NO POOL. Unit 5 has sole access to pool on site & u have to collect key from another location.
First thing we noticed was the wifi was incredibly slow, we gave up on it. One small square of soap for 2 people. Half a roll of toilet paper for 2 people. Half eaten biscuit found inside saucepan in cupboard. 4 pillows in main bedroom but only 1 had a pillow case. Curtain covering sliding door out to the deck had half the hooks missing & was just left dangling to the floor. 
The most annoying problem was the fact that there was NO REMOTE CONTROL for the television, therefore no Foxtel. We had to use the small buttons on the back of the tv to turn on & change channels manually.
All these issues were discussed personally with the property manager on the second morning of our stay. She promised our concerns would be rectified within 3 hours and she would supply a universal remote and refund $100 to my credit card. I was given an apology and told that her usual cleaner was away. When we arrived home later in the day the place was as we left it. 2 phone calls were made and messages left. Finally the emergency number was called around 4pm and we were told that the managers son was at the hospital & that a housekeeper/storage cupboard on the ground floor was unlocked and we could take linen & bathroom supplies. 
We never heard from the office the following day and no remote was ever supplied.



Badly managed property

We had a two bedroom apartment, ground floor and it was fabulous. We arrived late afternoon after a long drive and the staff were helpful getting us the key. Spacious and well appointed it was a pleasure to stay here.  Absolute beach front nice surroundings, peaceful and quiet. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants quality at a reasonable price. Loved it!

Sandcastles was special

We only spent one night here on our way to Airlie Beach but love the place.  We had a one bed apartment which was massive and we had dinner at the restaurant.  Great food and v reasonably priced wine.  Apartment clean and centrally located with a large balcony looking into the trees.  Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Do not stay in Apt 3
Dark, dingy, dirty, disgraceful 
Website is deceiving as it shows only the best of a bad lot. Manager Christine was imaginary we never sighted. 
We found alternative accommodation and moved in less than 24 hours. 
We had wardrobe doors that fell off, prison bars & brick wall as our “view”   I could go on for ever but in summary the entire complex should be condemned & pulled down 

Disgraceful 

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and despite the non stop rain, enjoyed our stay very much. Our 2 bedroom ground floor apartment was very spacious and clean. Apartment contained all the requirements needed for a ‘home away from home’  stay. Would certainly stay here again if in the region
