It's a very private hostel, you have to enter through a gym shop, when you get to the part of the rooms that look more like bodegas, you start to get depressed, it's grim, the walls of the rooms sound like offices.

Look for another option.

Well we booked on booking.com as we arrive back late without booking anywhere and as it was Saturday everywhere was full so we found this dive, when we arrived the guy at reception told us he was full and forgot to take the one double room he thought he had off the site, 
Then he decides he had a 3 bed sharing room?!?! 
Well where do I start, the smell of urine/sex right through the building,
I was sitting on the toilet whilst a thin corrugated tin wall decided me from some lucky/unlucky guy was getting it on, then I realize there wasn't any toilet paper, so I ended up having to clime over a single bed that my girlfriend told me was hers, to then sitting on my bottom bunk with a wafer thin pillow and a old tatty hello kitty bed sheet, 
I then have to sleep using my jacket, I'm in the army and sleeping rough is what we do but this place makes Beirut look like Beverly Hills, 
1/10 is even far to modest, the rooms are make out of tin walls the locks on the doors are broken and the AC sounds like is going to blow any second, avoid like the plague!!

What a dive

Me and my boyfriend were in this "hostel??" For the World Cup, in July. We payed more then 100€ per night, because of the WC, for a double room. The shared bathroom was always dirty , never hot water, they never clean our room as well, for one week!!!! Stay in Copacabana or somewhere else. Save your money!!!

Never again

Ze Carioca is by far the worst hostel I've stayed in.The rooms are for 12 people and NO TEN VENTANAS, the attention is poor and of the 6 days that I was there, in 3 there was no water.The hygiene of the place is non-existent and I'm pretty sure the place is not equipped as a hostel.

The worst of the worst.

I hope I don't have to go through this experience again, the rooms look like cardboard boxes, no ventilation, air conditioning that drains water into the bedroom, poor reception, scary.

This is a disaster!

When we arrived, we noticed that the place was precarious, walls of a durlock, super-small rooms, no closets, bad ventilation, dirty, they assigned us a room that we had not hired, the argument is that it is occupied and only 2 days to have it unoccupied. When I sat in bed it fell down, everything was in such bad condition that we decided to go. Previously, we used to work with the person at the reception to explain what had happened and we were told that we were calm that the operation was canceled. Within 2 days, I noticed a credit card in my account for the total stay of this hotel, to talk to the person at the place, a very bad holiday, and a violent spending that was practically done, and I hope that no one should be able to tell us what happened to the rest of the staff despite the bad conditions we had not been able to use.

A large staff.

It was a mandatory decision for me to stay at this property. Still, I can say that the staff was helpful without any English though. Other than that half point, I can say it was like a boot camp. The building is designed for the huge gym below the hostel so it's not much of a hostel.
