This place made us reconsider traveling. We had to remind ourselves that not all hostels are like this one. The beds were dirty, the bathroom was not one you wanted to spend time in, and the staff was disorganized. People were loud through all hours of the night, checking in throughout the early hours of the morning. The room we were in was right next to the common area where people were drinking and loud through the night. The location also makes Rio feel like a different city that it is. On top of a hill that leads one way to a a crowded highway crossing and the other into Botofugo, which is a fine place, but the walk up the hill is rough and littered with people peeing on the side of the road. Would not suggest ever.

I guess there weren't bugs...other than mosquitos

Not a pleasant experience. Regretably booked and prepaid for the hostel. After paying an excessivly high price in comparison with many local (and better quality) hostels, I went to sit on my bed and it fell completly though to the ground. Went to use the tap at the sink in the bathroom and there was no plumbing, the water simply fell onto the bathroom floor i was standing on. The manageress was clearly annoyed that everyone of the customers in the hostel spoke English and that she didn´t speak any; I understand Portugese and picked up on her cursing English speakers while dealing with a complaint from another couple. Don´t go to this hostel!
