Like many other pkaces in Bulgaria, you come once and never go back. The appartmentvwas small, noisy, darkness, cheap  style (the doors fall, the tools in the kitchen  are not enough) very bad location, no suoermarket, no decent restaurant (and taxi to other places cost 10 eur)..impossible to have a decent walk due to lack of sidewalk) close to the slopes but 500 up walk at returning). I did not feel hospitality at all. Also the food in the resort is overpriced, as well as the ski pass (the slopes were full of ice and  soft snow.

Sad experience

The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making our family time enjoyable. Its proximity to the slopes makes it perfect for a ski vacation, especially with small kids. We enjoyed our stay and the hospitality of the host.

Ski vacation in Pamporovo

it has 3 stars, so expectations should be accordingly. Still, some aspects can be improved:
- the apartment has a lot of space for clothing, but it should be adapted for skiing
- the atmosphere, the note is without any personality, not cosy, no nothing, just a transit staying feeling
- boiler in the bathroom - water dripping through a pipe - not ok at all, not even for 2 stars
- heating system with electric heaters, very dry air in the rooms
- shower bathroom space, directly on the floor, dirty and old shower curtain
- dusty room (visible on tv, heaters)
- fireplace included only in theory as for woods they charge 10 leva
- no reception presence, I saw her at check in and check out, that's it in one week
- terrible bed mattress, covered by a terribly soft top which I had to remove due to back pain
- the restaurant is close by, 1/2 minute of walking, but it is crowded in dinner time, with not enough space to accommodate all guests. and the smell of food is intense and you get stuck with it on your clothes. The food is average, as it is in the entire resort, better food on the slopes (Ochko holidays, rock cafe). The atmosphere old and tired, wit strong communist print
- the kitchen facilities are not communicated in the offer and you get there and see that you have a lot less than needed for a week stay. So, if you go, check what they have and what you need to bring if you come by car

The big and only plus is the distance to the ski lift, 5 minutes walking with your ski boots on. 
They have now "a room" for ski equipment storage, but it is just a storage room, nothing for drying/hanging the boots, so it is not a real ski storage room. 

the price was the cheapest in the resort, but still, lots of improvement needed for the payed value.

Nobody wear mask, no certificate was required!!

Apartments, not hotel

We stayed 6 night in a two bedroom apartment which has two floors.
Pros: 
5 min walk to ski center 2
super market next to it
large comfortable room
fire place
very friendly staff
cheap prices
Cons:
very small kitchen bench
very few equipment , nothing to put ur food from pan to plates  (even no ladle or similar)
limited reception time
limited sofa (only for two) in the living room 
1 bathroom with shower (one with toilet) ( if you stay 4 it is a cons)

lots of unnecessary place , cleaning is OK not bad not good

overall it is OK and recommended

pros and cons

After reading the mixed reviews, i wasnt so sure what to expect. But since this is a 3 star hotel i will review accordingly.

Hotel Pros:
- Great location, with only a 5min wallk to the Malina lift station.
- We had a 2 floor, 2 bed apartment, which was nicely furnished and extremely   spacious.
- Nice and warm.
- The shower head holder was broken when we arrived, and was fixed the next day without me raising the issue. Maybe the previous occupants notified them.
- Towels and bedding changed twice during the week.
- Smaller mini mart adjoining the apartments and seem to have most of the things you will need.
- Cheap!

Hotel Cons:
- Plenty of drawers in the bed room, but nowhere to hang your wet ski wear.
- Apartments were big but the bathroom was small, and no floor towel/mat.
- Reception only open 9-5 and even then difficult to get hold of anyone.
WIFI is annoying. You keep having to re-enter the password and it stopped working after a few days. I notified the girl on reception (whose English wasn't great - not a critism), but she seem to understand me. But nothing was done to fix it. I had to use the WIFI from the apartment next door (tip: same password throughout).
- No other facilities apart from the Massage/SPA  - which didn't seem to be open.
- No real nightlife around the area in the evening

Restaurant Pros:
- We were half board, so only had to pay for drinks. Prices are pretty cheap
- Friendly staff

Restaurant Cons:
- It is not part of the hotel, but in another building next to the Malina Village cabins
- Breakfast buffet was cold. I saw them bring out fresh (i presume) fried eggs from the kitchen, yet was still cold!
- Dinner buffet was lukewarm at best.

Overall - you get what you pay for. The apartment itself was fine and very spacious, but the breakfast and dinner was a real let down. I would rather pay the taxi fare to take me to town and eat in the restaurants there (btw you must try the Salute restaurant - excellent!). I don't think i would return I think i would prefer to stay somewhere with a bit more life and other restaurants to choose from. I would say this more a 2.5 to 3 Star hotel. BUt if you are with a family on a tight budget, then this is a just OK option.

Go With an Open Mind

The hotel is located a short distance from the center of Pomporovo (by car, 5 minutes walk along the trail, which is not very convenient, although the distance is actually only 3 km). That is, there are no souvenirs, sporting goods, dinner tables and so on. Only a tiny supermarket and a cozy restaurant. But the hotel is located right in the fairy-tale beauty forest and to the Malina elevator is actually 5 minutes walk. The hotel is simple, but cozy and warm at night. Ideal for family or company. My apartments consisted of a dining room with a very nice coffee table, a small dining room with a sofa, a sofa with a very nice bathroom (you could only have a little overnight's breakfast table so you could finally have a bathroom with a nice bathroom) and a supermarket. The price of the bathroom and coffee table was only a few minutes, and the dining room was a little over a minute, and the dining room was a little over a quarter of an hour, but it was available for everyone to eat in the hotel, but it is not worth a lot of money.

The girl's silence is 5 minutes from the elevator.

For the included Breakfast you have to get out of the 'hotel' and walk across the street, in the cold snow, which is not very pleasant thing to do every morning. As for the rest of the restaurant, it is absolutely not properly scaled for the people that go there to eat. Some days you have to wait for a table 10-15-20 minutes, before you can sit to eat, after you've walked the cold mile. At least the food is OK. For the dinner we went once, and they told us to come back after 20:30, because they had people with HB and there wouldn't be enough space for us, so they just pushed us away.

I had a room with a fireplace, for the 4 nights stay I booked (new years including) I received logs for the fireplace only on the 3rd day. For the first two the explanation was that I hadn't ordered them beforehand, which I did together with my friends. Then the logs we got were wet, and I had to buy additional material from the store below to make the fire burn, which took me about 3 hours.

The 'hot parking' is a mess. In order to open it, you need a remote, which you can only get during the receptionists working hours (9-17), then you have to return it! So if you want to go out outside those hours, the only way is to push a button inside, then push it again when you stop the car outside of the garage and RUN before the automatic door closes. Getting in is even better, park the car in front of the garage or hotel, the run along to the parking with the stairs, push the button to open the automatic door, then run back to the car and park it...

As the reception only works 9-17, there is no service outside those hours, if you need anything.. well you better not need anything.

Worst value for price ever

It's really hard to say this place is a hotel. Hotel with no restaurant, no lobby, no room service. They are trying to heat the rooms with small electrical heaters which are not enough. If you have small children stay away.

This not a hotel, just appartments with no service...

We stayed for a week with a group of people. What I can say, warm professional staff greeted us... The hotel was so warm that we actually had to turn the heating off, coz it was hot. That gave me a very good impression of generous hosts...  We have breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant and always there was something new and exciting.... Could not compliment to chef enough... With a great anticipation I always headed to the restaurant to meet the warm fire place and the smiley faces of the so professional maitre d'hotel and the waiters who never left us in need.  The only little disadvantage for me was that  main reception was a different building and our reception in the hotel was not manned most of the time, but that did not spoil my experience in the hotel. 
Why 4 stars in my review.. well it is really nothing that we were failed on during out stay... but there was no gym, which I would have enjoyed...

I would definitely recommend this hotel and the villas, for all their great service , professionalism and hospitality, and especially for their great location next to the ski slopes and the wonderful forestry feeling you get when staying there.

Great warm place...

It is important to know that Residence Hotel Malina & Malina Apartments (where I stayed) share the same building, since there are two owners. 
However the apartments are identical. They are very spacious and they have enough storage places for a long stay with a big family. The kitchen is very well utilated. 

It is very close to the Ski Center 2 (however it is far from the center of the resort if you are interested in this).  

The administrator, Dimitar, was a very nice and helping guy. 

The food in the restaurant of Malina Village (over the road) is very good (in my opinion above usual bulgarian restaurants).
