The guesthouse is cheap and functional but very sparse. Rooms tend to get hot in March. Second floor is better and the redeeming quality was the big balcony to view the sunset over the Mekong. Fridge in reception is locked at night so get any supplies during the day. 

Be careful if booking onward travel through the guesthouse, they will cram you into a minivan like sardines! 

Cheap digs on the river 

Use to stay at Heng Heng hotel but pay 15$ a night for a basic room who provide just a little bit of water in the bathroom with noisy people at night...no way anymore... Better to move up north along the riverside next time

Need to be renew

Heng Heng II was the perfect spot for my two day stay in Kratie; extremely helpful, well mannered and cheerful staff, a super tightly run ship, clean well priced rooms, excellent riverfront location next to many restaurants, etc. Laundry, motorbike rental and onward travel logistics options were also all done in tip top fashion. Definitely my fave pic for a return visit to this lovely little town.

In response to some of the erroneous, negative comments in some people’s reviews:

To the reviewer who complained about a lack of toilet paper (“An advice, remember to bring toilette paper; we booked two rooms and none of them, had it.”); it was missing in mine also. Miracle of miracles, all I had to do was ask for it; problem solved immediately...

To the reviewer who complained “the owner didn't speak English so used his 8 year old as a translator, fab idea! Only an 8 year old hasn't yet perfected customer service :)” his son during my visit did a fantastic job. *You* are the guest in their country and it’s not the world’s obligation to learn English ffs so roll with it and be glad there was someone (very nice I might add) to help you. What is it with people who expect everyone on the planet to speak English?! (speaking as an American).

To the reviewer who complained “The staff is helpfull, but a little too pushy and controling. e.g. where do you go today, what will you do tomorrow. We felt like we always had to explain where we are heading (just like when I lived with my parents back home).” Guess what; that’s the norm in SE Asia, just like asking “are you married, do you have children”, etc. They’re just trying to make conversation and yes, maybe seeing if they can help you and in the process make a few extra bucks. No foul and lighten up.

Heng Heng II: two thumbs up!

For a very low price you will find super spacious rooms, very clean, and at least in my case with incredible views of the river, the only problem is that the receptionist, although very kind, always tries to sell you all the tours so you can play with him and always a little more expensive than if you hired him on your own.

Stopped 1 night in Kratie on way to Kampong Cham.

Hotel staff managed to trip over and damage my motorcycle when bringing it inside their shop for overnight parking.

They didn't seem to care much at all or offer any help fixing it. Just very bad attitude.

Repairs cost more than the room which was decent for $8, although there were ants in the room the next day.

Wouldn't stay again

Simple family-run hotel. The owners are very kind and, although they speak very little English, they do it in 4 to help customers, organize excursions to the area, tuk tuk tours and transfers to any location in Cambodia. Perfect location on the riverfront, right in front of the buses arriving from Phnom Penh, in the center.

Fantastic location on the Mekong

After an overnight stay at the smudged neighboring hotel Heng Heng 1, we moved to the II. The location is just as good, but you also see yourself there as a sales-oriented tour and bus operator. For $8 a night the rooms were solid, the bathroom in a fairly decorated condition. The internet is solid and available in the room. No more need to wait.

Good condition, depending on the performance of the staff

Double room with ventilator and bathroom for 7 euros a night. There are two common terraces that offer a superb view of the Mekong River.

I'm good.

Unless you want to make friends with all the insects don't stop here.

Running away

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Receptionist friendly. We rented a double room and it was clean, SIN sheets (you can order them and te las dan). Regular clean bathroom. It has a terrace facing the Mekong River. Located next to the center of Kratie and the bus station.
