Staff was very friendly, especially GM ..
Nice view, room was very clear,

One of the best Backpackers hostel in PP 

I have traveled extensively all over the world for years, and have never felt compelled to take the time to get online and write a review.....until now.
Camory itself is a fine enough place to stay. Accommodation is decent and looks clean (save for the used condom under the bed) and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant, but after I saw a couple cockroaches I decided not to eat there. But it will take more than condoms and cockroaches for me to write a bad review.

It wasn't until 4:30am in my 8 bed dorm that I had one of the most surreal, bizarre, infuriating experiences in all my years of travel. I was alone in the dorm, sound asleep when one of the male workers at the hostel and a friend of his barge in loudly, obviously drunk, texting noisily for several minutes, and then proceed to pass out on a couple of the bunks nearby. I get they were drunk and wanted to crash somewhere, but I still think the way they went about it was extremely unprofessional. They (or the one guy for sure) work there, they are not guests. GUESTS have more common  courtesy than they did. So I'm annoyed at being woken up, and even more annoyed that one of the guys started snoring loudly, so it was hard to fall back asleep. I put in earplugs and try and fall asleep. 

And then an hour later this happens....

I am still not asleep, and I hear someone get out of bed next to mine (my earplugs are cheap and not very good), and a few seconds later another strange sound. I look up and over and notice one of the guys (the EMPLOYEE of Camory. Later he told me he was the OWNER!), and he has his penis out and is PEEING ALL OVER THE FLOOR right near my personal belongings. Had he been a couple more feet to the left he would have been peeing ON my stuff. A lot of the pee did 'drain' toward my stuff and some things did get damp with urine.

So I was pissed. I yelled and cursed for several minutes;; which I understand did not help the situation. I wiped up the pee the best I could with a towel. The other guy woke up and it took them both a few minutes to shake off their stupor and grasp the situation. The 'pee guy' tried desperately to convince himself, his friend, and me he didn't do it - 'Are you sure?', 'No way', 'It's the air conditioner leaking' (the air conditioner was nowhere near the spot), 'It does't smell like pee. Want me to lick it.' He asked his friend for confirmation. 'No it doesn't smell like pee,' his friend said (ok). Then the friend said I must be crazy on drugs since I was yelling and so angry. They said they were going to call the cops (they didn't). They then left still denying that it happened. Then I left a couple hours later to catch a bus. I never got an apology or even recognition that it happened; but honestly I didn't care,  I just wanted to get out of there.

Such a surreal moment. Sometimes drunk people pee in weird places at weird times (I myself pee'd in a tent once. I get it), but something like THIS in this situation should NEVER EVER happen. It's sickening really. Please please please stay away from this place. 

I am very curious to see how Camory responds to this review.

Wow. Never in all my travels

The thing I liked the most about this hostel is its location. First, it is facing a river, a perfect view while taking your breakfast and second, it is walking distance to about everything like Royal Palace and Restaurants and bars. However, I did not like the room assigned to us, as it is not only on the top floor (5th floor I think without an elevator) but the atmosphere is kinda creepy. The breakfast is good and the staff were great (always gladly to assist). 

I might try other hostels when I get back in Phnom Penh.

Not bad

We stayed two nights at Camory when we arrived in Cambodia, and was happy enough that we went back there a couple weeks later before flying out. We stayed in the 8-bed mixed dorm, which was never full. 

The room and bathroom were clean and they provide towels. The bunk beds are nice and big and the lockers can fit all your stuff. 

The staff were friendly but Nin was the only one with good English, although the others tried their best.

The location is great, right on the river and about two blocks from the night market. If your tuk-tuk driver seems unsure of how to get there, tell him it's on Sisowath quay near the Burger King. 

Great location

We stayed here for 2 nights based on the great reviews on tripadvisor and we were really disappointed. 

The dorm room was OK but the staff was just really confused and it didn't seem like there was any system. For example they gave me a bed that I later found out they had already given to someone else the same day. Also the keys to the lockers were completely mixed up.

Would probably have given them an average score if it wasn't for the bad experience we had:
We booked a busticket to Siem Reap through the hostel. First of all the guy at the reception tried talking us out of taking a day bus. He kept talking bad about the day bus and told us we should take the night bus instead. We decided to take the day bus anyway. We paid for a ticket with pickup from the hostel. When the pickup didn't show up we told the reception (the guy who booked the ticket the first day wasn't there that morning) and another guy from the reception said he would try calling them. He told us that they didn't answer the phone and that if we wanted to catch the bus we had to take a tuk tuk (and not just any tuk tuk, but the tuk tuk the hostel provides). We said we didn't want to pay for a tuk tuk because we already had paid for a busticket with pickup at the hostel. He just gave us back the busticket and didn't say anything, indicating that it was OUR problem that the pickup THEY arranged didn't show up and if we wanted to make it to the bus we had to pay. We ended up taking the tuk tuk because we didn't want to miss the bus. They could at least have offered to pay for the tuk tuk. 

However if you decide to stay here anyways make sure you are not in a rush when having breakfast. It took them more than 40 minutes to make a pancake with fruit salad, even though we were the only ones eating in the restaurant at this time. 

Bad experience

The rooms are not bad for 7€ (July) as they are clean and have air conditioning and the bathroom is also good. The only thing is that it is a little sad. I recommend not staying for breakfast, it is better to do it somewhere else. It is located in the resort, although if you want to go dancing you will have to get a tuctuc (3$). It is very close to the ladys clubs that you do not need to explain what it is;- Respecting the staff, there is everything... although most are very friendly.

It's fine, very centered.

Very well located hostel, next to all the nice bistros. Bathroom and rooms well maintained (not just hot water). Quality/price is top!

That's a good address.

The first days in a new country and culture where you will be staying for a while are always complicated.I chose Camory to spend my first days in Phnom Penh, and the experience was unbeatable.The breakfasts are a delight.The beds and rooms are very, very comfortable.All the staff at the hostel make an effort to take care of every detail so that you feel at home at all times.Think about staying for four days, and I ended up staying for two weeks.Thank you for a memorable stay!

A very special place.

Air-conditioned dorm at 12 dollars a night which comes back pretty expensive but c is small dej included (which comes back easily to 3 dollars when you're a big belly in big cities) extremely clean and tidy, a high-end dorm and very well placed, facing the river and not far from the old market

Bruno - Montha: I recommend this hostel. Very nice place. Very clean, recent establishment. Overlooking the river from the balconies. Close restaurant bar and city centre. staff available and friendly. Good quality restaurant.
