The Sakal,  a long-established budget accomadation option (plus bar & restaurant) near Victory beach, has been demolished, courtesy of the Chinese. Sihanoukville is fast becoming a new province of China, with all that that entails.

Gone

We are in hell. Ok, the night cost 9$ but it does not value this. The bungalow was very dirty, not clean at all, the bathroom was durty, the bungalow was very hot even during night. The fan does not working well, you can turn on, but it does not provide wind. The towels smell very bad, the bed is dirty limit... It is not a bungalow but a hut ! It is a tourist trap ! Get away...

Bungalow of hell...

I know it's very cheap, but anyway... Bungalows are big but dirty, poorly constructed. Every noise on the street will wake you up. Place is just next to Victoria beach and pier, it's 1 minute walk to seem in the sea. Place have a very nice bar with pool and small library. Staff don't speak English to good...

Cheap bungalows... Poor quality

The staff here, especially one young Khmer lad...is extremely rude and arrogant. The kitchen lady is just as bad. They get orders wrong. Makes mistakes on accounts. Charge items to your account that you have not ordered or charge the same item twice on different bills. The food is expensive in regards to other places. We got served rotten boiled eggs...a fruit lasse that was off. Found maggots in our omelette. When you order food, the kitchen lady will first finish watching her tv program or finish chatting to someone before she decides to get up and do her job. The staff laugh at you and snicker in Khmer to one another when yiu point out that your order is wrong or there are worms in it. I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone. There are far more value for money places in Sihanoukville. 

Very rude staff

This hotel is cheap and rather clean (clean in Cambodian style if you know what I mean). The staff was not very helpful, only one manager was ready to help us. Wi Fi worked not very good. Also we had ants in our room. The cleaners came to our room once in 3 days, but they cleaned it in some special Cambodia way. A lot of old people live in this hotel. They drink in the hotel bar from the early morning. The hotel has swimming pool, but it is also not very clean. It is very close to the beach. 

Cheap Cambodian hotel

The location is nice. The European food on Victoria Hill is probably the cheapest in the city. There are two Russian restaurants next to the city's dirtiest beach, but to the left of the pier there are two bars and on their territory it is clean and cozy - bunk beds, umbrellas, drinks. It is convenient that tourist dishes leave the Victoria pier every morning. Nearby the whole street is away with humane prices. European food on Victoria Hill is probably the cheapest in the city. There are two Russian restaurants.

It's a nice place.

The staff is courteous and quick for Asian times, the structure is medium/small, the rooms are large even if they are spartan.

Personal judgment

After a long trip from Vietnam we had chosen this hotel for its location and for only one night (boat to Koh Rong Sanloem). We arrived in dim rooms, a foul smell, wet sheets and towels... Finally suspicious movements between European men and Cambodian youths ended up disgusting us and convincing us that this place is A good listener!!!

A nightmare

They found it by accident following a search for a hotel during the period between Christmas and New Year's Day, everything was complete and after a good 30 hotels they had a room for 6 nights, their prices had risen sharply like in all other hotels, but we got it at 30 dollars instead of 25 with the climate and a nice comfortable room.
