It's been a good choice for 12 years, but now it's a great 20 dollar room, climate-controlled, or uncontrollable, no one intersects. Shame on the bed sheet, mold in the bathroom, flushing defective, no hot water, loud Chinese until 3:30 in the morning and from 7:30 in the morning press-air hammer from one of the three surrounding construction sites.

Unfriendly reception,dirty bed sheets,bad rancid,doesn't like to take a shower than that,waste from the sink just drips to the floor,air conditioning is there but it's not cooling,ventilator is there covered in dust,hairs from our predecessors on the toilet,toilet door can't be locked because of lack of a door knob.

Never again!

Luckily we were only there for one night, we couldn't have lasted much longer. Dirty from top to bottom for the proud price of 20 dollars!!! Very unfriendly man at the reception.

Filthy, terrible, the 10$ room i had, i had arrived late at night and tired and didn’t check the bathroom properly. What is saw after a while, was a toilet seat covered in yellowish orange piss, on top of that there was a used condom on the toilet seat, i wish i could post pics here really!!! The shower had no tap to turn on/off, luckily i always have my Victorinox with me, so i could manage to shower. The “freshly washed” towels had a long black hair on it... great place if you want to pick up a slapper and take here there, but there are far cheaper places for that... Room 207 it was...

It's a nice room at first sight, but if you look closely waouhhh household half done, never clean the ceilings full of spider webs. They have to run after them to get the towels changed.

Stayed at Mealy Chenda Guesthouse on Victory Hill in Sihanoukville when I first relocated to Cambodia 9 years ago. Back then Mealy was the classiest hotel on The Hill. Had a positive experience there – service was attentive, rooms were well furnished and maintained and the overall mood was pleasant. Due to that stay when travelers would ask for a classy place to lodge on the sort of ramshackle Victory Hill I’d recommend Mealy. 
For Khmer New Year this year I booked a room there online. Well, what a gloomy surprise nine years has done to Mealy. The times have change Mealy and its rooms, service and attitude are mere ghosts of my fond memories. 
Arrived there Thursday evening, dog-tired from two days on the bus. First room they placed us had unfortunate electrical issues – power would only stay on for 4 minutes before automatically shutting off. Second room had no workable electrical outlets except for the one that powered the refrig and TV and after settling in for 15 minutes we were told we had to move because it was pre-booked by another guest. Third room had no refrig or table. Anyway about an hour and fifteen minutes after getting there we finally had a room with proper furnishings and power.
Breakfast is included in the room cost. Went to the restaurant and initially was given a five or six page menu with a wide range of brekkie choices. Two minutes later the waitress shyly handed us a one sheet menu with an extremely limited number meal choices. She apologized for the menu confusion, though the options on the one page menu were basically tokens and skimpy. No meat options, no cheese options and no vegetable options. Portions could politely be  “diet plates”. Definitely not filling.
Next day we spent a few hours at the nearby waterfall. Got back at 4PM, hot, dusty and thirsty. Looked in the refrig for the two bottles of water that were supposed to be supplied to guests daily…… no water. The wife went to find a worker to ask for a couple of water bottles. The worker said she’d get it in 10 minutes since she was busy at the moment. Two hours later still no water. And the room was not tidied up or bed made. Very sloppy service and maintenance. 
The devil is in the details. The hallmark of a classy hotel is found in the attention the staff pays to details. A good hotel is run like a precise Swiss watch; a lousy hotel is run like a slapdash forgetful jumble. Sad to say, Mealy Chenda has devolved over the years from a topnotch inn to a disappointing, shabbily run has-been. 
A gyp, worth half the price charged. Lodged at far superior places recently for a third the cost.

A Gyp and Careless

Three successive passes,a total of six nights in a nice quiet and clean room for a very honest price.In the Victoria hill area,perfectly located for access to Royal Harbour (a lonely beach destination in Koh Rong).Close to the profess and quiet beaches frequented by locals.Many reliable services.Bus and boat booking,skuter rental in good condition,washing room massage...No need to look elsewhere for meals and breakfasts served on a huge sea view terrace.Quality and reasonableness.A young, attentive and attentive customer,under the watchful eye of the two sisters who own the establishment.By looking for a perfect French restaurant, there are no servers and no means of changing the room.

It's worth being known for.

I've been staying here on and off for 14 years. The bloke who runs the place is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well presented. OK everything is a bit dated but I quite like that mid 90's look!! I've got no complaints.  I always look at the room before paying and if I'm not satisfied he shows me another. I've never booked online and that way you save a few quid. 

I don't know what all the fuss is about. 

I can't recommend this hotel. I can't recommend it at all. I had booked a room with terrace. When I arrived, I was assigned a suitable room. Just as I was packing up, someone from the reception came and said that I had changed my mind. I had to move to another room. It was dark and there was no terrace. Then I went back to the reception and passed a room lt. booking confirmation. I was (unfriendlyly) given the most disassembled room, e.g. without a refrigerator, without a table on the terrace (like in the other rooms). I was especially annoyed that the first room that was okay and was in line with my booking confirmation was filled in exactly 8 days. I could not see the air conditioning of this hotel again. This restaurant is located in the sunset and it is not possible to get a fresh view of the sea.

I didn 't like it.

Located in the Victory area, this guesthouse has ample parking,clean surroundings and characteristic furnishings.
