Cochrane

Rockyview is a quaint historical hotel with small rooms and thin walls, as you would expect. I should have done my homework and seen there is a bar right underneath the rooms, and on a Saturday night, it was noisy. But, as a spot between Calgary and Banff, it was comfortable and the staff very helpful and pleasant. They were willing to accommodate a late evening arrival. The room was clean and had the basics. There is a restaurant on-site, and the hotel is in a nice walking area.

Are very small would recommend for a short stay free parking behind the hotel and two restaurants attached to the hotel with outside seating and balconies not great choice for breakfast and couldn’t cater for allergies that was a shame but found another local restaurant for breakfast

Needs an update but worth a stay

What a great place to stay! The building is 118 years old, up to code and well maintained while preserving the 'old west' feel. Very comfortable, great atmosphere and wonderful people. Michelle, the owner, took us on a tour herself and was very personable and friendly. Definitely making this a go-to stop when we just want to get out of the house.

Old west but not wild

Great staff great rooms.  This is an old hotel and is charming. Shows a lot of the history of the local area. Make sure you eat at the restaurant, it is very tasty. Located in downtown Cochrane and a great place to walk and to explore the local town.

If you are looking for a Super 8, this is not it.  It's nostalgic, well set up, and something different from an everyday hotel.  True to its era, the rooms are small, but that is part of the charm.  We were impressed with the attention to detail and how very clean it was.  Thanks for the out of the ordinary treat!

Here's to something different!

My sister and I went here for lunch after shopping in Cochrane. We usually go to the excellent Greek restaurant in town round the corner, but didn’t feel like a big meal.

 I had the clubhouse sandwich which was barely edible with dried up brown turkey and didn’t finish it. Even the fries were bad and tasted like the oil had been used over and over again.  She had the fish tacos and couldn’t eat any of it it tasted so bad. I don’t know what they use on the bread on the sandwiches, but it isn’t butter. Some awful, cheap margarine. 

 The waiter gave us good service, but when it came time for the bill after she complained about her tacos and mentioned she has never had a fish tacos like that before, (and she eats a lot of fish tacos and only had three bites of one) he didn’t take it off the bill and offered a piece of cake on the house. Needless to say, we didn’t take the cake and couldn’t wait to get out of there. Never going back. Blachhh

Disgusting food

Great place ! Between the Bar and the staff this has been our best stop so far this trip. Wife enjoyed line dancing lessons while I enjoyed the atmosphere.  We played pool and were treated like family from out of town, family that you like. Shawn, Christian and the rest of the staff are great. Our room was compfy and clean. We will be telling our friends to stay here when they come through.

Great place for Us

Michelle and Mark are excellent hostesses and the staff are awesome , friendly , inviting  and very accommodating. Thank you for the exceptional hospitality and the wonderful nostalgic experience from the decor to the train going by

The best staff ever

This is my 2nd time staying here for the same work conference, 2 years later. I can’t say enough about the staff (Amanda and Jay) who treated us amazing from the time we got there , to having dinner and drinks, to breakfast the next day. Also during our dinner both owners checked on us to make sure we were happy with our room, food, drinks and to make sure we knew who to call if we needed anything. The food was amazing (dinner at the bar and breakfast and the cafe) and the prices for food and drinks were awesome. We had so much fun with the free line dancing lesson. All the locals were so welcoming, friendly and fun! The rooms are so neat and antique! It’s not for everyone’s taste and a little loud plumbing but my coworker and I loved it and would love to come again soon!! It’s located right downtown so you can walk around to all the little shops (also amazingly friendly staff). 

Love this place!

Went to Cochrane to visit friends and stayed at Rockyview Hotel, not knowing what to expect as it is a turn of the century hotel but much to our surprise, the rooms were very well decorated and very clean.  We ate and drank at the bar and had a blast.  I highly recommend this place to stay and to eat and enjoy some adult beverages while in Cochrane.
