Conveniently located for the price. Room did not have any typical musky smell. Room was spacious and looked clean.  But not too happy with the room. Bed did not have the box mattress under the actual mattress causing the bed to so low. Also coffee pot and microwave was filthy. Additionally no hot breakfast as advertised on this review site as well as motel website. Surprised to find out about it upon arrival

Ok of a place to stay and go in  rush or on route but I would not stay here again. Microwave and fridge was dirty.it doesn't look like it was never cleaned. Website indicated breakfast was included but not offered at all. Only positive thing is room was spacious

Where to start….
This place was absolutely disgusting. The first thing we were bombarded with was the smell of 50 cans of fabreeze being sprayed simultaneously in the hallway in an effort to cover up 50+ years of heavy cigarette smoke. The beds looked straight out of the 70s (sheets included) with odd unidentified stains throughout. The bathroom was a “HAIRowing” experience. There were hairs (not ours) throughout. Halfway through our stay, the toilet began leaking, to which the owner only gave us an extra crusty bath mat to sop up the mess. The door of our room did not lock properly, to which the owner told us it “wasn’t important because there are police nearby”. We felt vaguely unsafe for our entire visit. Next, the air conditioning unit was full of mold. We woke up coughing and sneezing due to this. There was obvious dirt everywhere that had not been cleaned, and garbage left from other hosts. Someone’s hospital visit tag was plastered on the mirror. There were weird brown drips on the wall and half of the lightbulbs were not working or missing. The owner, once again, shrugged this off and made no effort to fix it. Keep driving past this nasty mold infested relic of the 70s. I wouldn’t wish for my worst enemy to stay here.

The bathroom was clean. The towels were very old ,small , harsh and musty. It smelled like someone sprayed off a case of fabreeze minutes before we got there. Unfortunately after 50 years or so, you just can’t get the cigarette smell out of the walls and linen. Tv and fridge worked fine. Place needs a revamp of epic proportions.

Not what the other  reviews spell out

Picked Eldo Inn as it was priced well and had good reviews. Check-in was very slow (only me!), everything from the paint, light fixtures, rugs, furniture and accent pieces all from the early 80s. Much maintenance is clearly needed everywhere. Room window wouldn't close. Towels were musty and not clean. Spider webs, old garbage and a/c that somewhat works.  Never staying again!

Who is rating this place?!

We stayed one night at Auberge Eldo Inn in July. It was a last minute booking on a road-trip.

The exterior of the motel showed an aging property in need of a fresh paint job.

Check in was fine.

As we walked down the hallway to our room, there was a strong musty smell. Thankfully the room itself was better, but the air was stale. We started the AC and opened the windows which helped. Later we found the crank on one of the windows did not work and we could not close the window, and we had to walk outside and push the window closed.  AC was very noisy and hard to sleep with it on.

The floor was hard with a thin layer of carpet.

There was a chair that completely sank when you sat in it.

Hair dryer was broken, sink cracked, and the toilet has a lot of micro-cracks and looked on the verge of breaking.

Dated comforters, hard mattress, and uncomfortable pillows.

Worst place I've ever stayed at. Two stars is generous.

Property needs a major refresh

We checked in after 8pm June 26. The gentleman on front desk waited for us and gave us a room near the office. The room was large, two beds and clean, but definitely an older small motel. The motel could use some exterior TLC for more curb appeal. Adequate for a night’s sleep while travelling in Northern Ontario

Clean. Good for a night on the road

We recently booked 6 rooms at this location (largely based on previous reviews and ratings).  

The Positive:  Welcoming manager.  East check-in.  Great location, close to convenience stores and several eating establishments.  Rooms were large and very clean.

The Not So Positive:  Only 1 room out of 6 had hot water.  That room also had no hot water the following morning.  1 room had a broken bed.  The same room had no TV reception.  I room had an electrical outlet that sparked and blew out when something was plugged in.  Yes, we contacted the manager about all of these and, although he was apologetic, it didn't solve any of the problems.  Wifi was very slow in the room closest to the office and much slower in all the others.

We were booked to stay another night but cancelled the reservation and booked elsewhere.  The management said that they had fixed all the problems but the group just didn't want to chance things going wrong again.

Would I book there again?  More than likely.  I am sure they will try their utmost to improve everything we had issues with.

Major improvement needed

Friendly check in staff, very clean room, nice and warm, comfy beds and very good picture on the TV, close to Tim Hortons A&W and Esso station, Beer store is just down the road and a Home hardware is just across the road too.
